Excellent Choice

It's strange that though amazon claims that this is one of their top sellers that they have very little (and false) information on it.

I've used other "touch screen" organizers and found that they have several problems. You will often hit the wrong key or the key will repeat and also they seem to have a lack of features in the lower price range. This organizer suffers from none of these problems though I have found that sometimes the key I press doesn't enter (but at least it doesn't repeat 2 or 3 times).

The size is great (easily fits in my palm), the case is sturdy, the stylus entry is more reliable than any other unit I've seen, the SEARCH FUNCTION for the phone, memo, schedule, etc. Works just as one would expect it to.

There is one thing that it was reported to do that it simply does not. The functions and prompts are supposed to be able to be displayed in 7 languages but on this model only English is available.

All in all a wonderful organizer though. And ...you can't beat the price to feature ratio. This unit is even on par with the data features of my Casio B.O.S.S. ...

If you want to carry a PDA in your pocket, this is it. Simple to organize & store info. I can't leave home without it! Has a backlight for low-light conditions & 43 cities in different time zones. Has a calculator, calendar, schedule, anniversary, memo, expense, & to do mode. It also offers an English-Spanish bi-directional word translator function too. The best thing i like about the SHARP YO-290, comes with a PC Link software & cable which you can exchange data between the Organizer & a PC!

A waste of money for me.

This was my first PDA and I haven't used it for 2 reasons:

1) I can't get my computer to talk to it. Sharp told me a couple of basic things to check - i.e. the com port settings. Since that didn't help me, they told me to contact the PC manufacturer. At this point I have still been unsuccessful. Since I do not want to have to duplicate entries in my computer and PDA, I have not used the PDA.2) Even if my computer was importing and exporting the data, I still have to enter every item very painstakingly one at a time. There was a CSV import feature, so I thought I could put things in another application much quicker and then convert it into a CSV format. However, I was told by Sharp that the file import is for CSV files created from their CE491w software only. So, I asked about getting that application and was told that it wouldn't work on my device.

I had seen the high ratings on this product and thought it must be a good choice. I was excited to get it and use it, so I have been very disappointed. I have never used another PDA to compare it to, but at this point, unfortunately, it was not even worth the low price for me.

Lighter weight, long lasting, high power, safer, circular saw

Makita 5277NB Hypoid SawI've use my Hypoid saw for years, to build decks, additions, finish basements, etc. In all that use, the only maintenance performed was to use an air gun to blow it clean at the end of each day. It's never needed any parts except new blades. Have cut through just about every type of material one of these saws can be used for, and as long as the correct blade is mounted, it's a great saw, and easy to follow a cut-line. As with any circular saw, if you need a perfectly straight cut (e.g., trimming a door bottom), use a saw guide of some type. The saw has never lacked for power.I find this type of saw safer than circular saws with the handle near the blade, because it's nearly impossible to have the tool torque out of your hand. This saw is designed for a right-handed person; i.e., with the blade on the left it's much easier (and safer) to see what you're doing, than with the blade on the right. I frequently use just my right hand for guiding the saw -- it's that easy to control. I bought a Hypoid saw because it's lighter than a worm drive saw. That was important to me at the time, as I was constructing a 2 x 8 roof truss system 2 stories up. You might want to personally compare the weight of this Makita to a worm drive model, in a local store, before deciding.

Great saw, a little on the fragile side

I've had this saw for about a year now, and I have to say, it's a little on the fragile side. It definitely has the power to do just about anything, as a worm-drive or hypoid should. I work for a remodeling company, so it's usually got a $5 cheapo blade on it that's been thrashed around far beyond its useful lifespan, and I can still cut down the siding on a wall, nails and all, right down the stud (why I've done this, is another story). It's easy to control, and cuts straight, once you get used to the kick - it's important to note that worm-drive saws kick sideways, if you've never used one. The blade on the left makes it really easy to see what you're doing. I cut a cord and had to replace it, and when I took it apart, I noticed that the internal clamp that holds the cord is one of the beefiest things I've ever seen; I have no problem using it to support the saw's weight to lower or raise it from a roof.However, it isn't quite as rugged as some similar saws out there. While the shoe has remained straight, it has on a couple occasions developed little jagged spots that have damaged finish-grade material (yes, I do use this as my finish saw). The lever to retract the blade guard (a cheap piece of plastic) broke off when it fell off a sawhorse once; it's not much of an issue for me, because I keep the guard wedged up (which I highly recommend NOT doing, unless you're a professional who's okay with taking that risk). The bevel adjustment has also drifted out of square on a couple occasions, probably from being banged around in the back of my truck, dropped, etc., and the lever on the depth adjustment seems to need to be removed and bent back into shape once a month or so to keep it from snagging on the rail.All in all, I feel like I got my money's worth from this saw, and it's paid for itself more times over than I can even guess, but my next saw is probably going to be a Mag 77 (more rugged) or a left-blade sidewinder (lighter).

perfect saw for framers

Being from the east coast ive used mostly right handed box saws.. However this saw is definitely worth its salt. Once i got used to the blade being on the wrong side (which i later found an advantage when cutting plywood) i really liked it. It is lighter than some of the other worm drives ive used and is almost impossible to bog down ripping large stock. Another good feature is that i dont have to ever worry about checking the oil level as with conventional wormys.

Mad at ups

It's in town, but ups decided a $35 old tube monitor should be signature required even though I usually request My packages be left at the door or office, AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM! Hopefully I'll get the stupid thing before they return it. I work during the day and don't usually have to figure out how to meet up with the ups guys. There's a small possibility the ups guy was being nice and brought it back the next day when I was there and carried it up the stairs. At least it was delivered in good shape and it is very bright, made in 2004 but appeared to be new in box, NOS.

A+ First Class Quality Pieces, F for gift giving packaging

I was very pleased with the quality of each serving piece, as I was trying to match an existing set. The sugar spoon was especially nice. This was a bridal shower gift, and the packaging was similar to a box that held an oversized tube of toothpaste - the 5 serving pieces were stuffed inside of this nondescript box. Each piece was in a plastic sleeve, so it was protected. As an item that cost $100.00, this was not presented in an attractive fashion.

Platinum Trim probably being discontinued

BEWARE: I too was thrilled to see the Platinum trim Holiday china, but after some research, I found that there are only a few companion pieces for the platinum. I actually called Lenox to ask if I was missing something and was told that they are probably going to discontinue the Platinum due to customer disinterest, which I can certainly understand if they are not committing to making companion pieces. A lot of people would be interested in this trim. I however would be really upset if I had invested in the platinum only to find there was no way to complete the set in the future.

A superb monitor

Bought this a couple of weeks ago. Looked great at Fry's so splurged a little and bought it. Could not be happier. Elegant plain semi-flat black frame, looks pretty impressive just sitting on my desk. I'm not an expert but colors look great to me, type is clear and easy to read. Games are great with that 19". I do a lot of work at home, a lot of teleconferencing. Lots of space, I can watch netmeeting and at the same time read thru my emails. For me it was worth the extra money.

Great monitor...after some minor tweaking.

I bought this monitor for a Gaming Rig and have not been dissapointed! It took some minor tweaking when I got it set up, the automatic stuff just didn't quite cut it. Mainly for black. I ended up having to turn down the brightness quite a bit so that black areas of the screen LOOKED black. Other that that I LOVE this monitor and do not regret spending the extra money on a large LCD.

Outstanding 19" LCD for the price...

I purchased this 19" puppy after convincing my dad that he needed my 1 year old 17" Hitachi LCD for his office. The Hitachi was an excellent monitor, but I just couldn't resist upgrading to a larger screen--especially with Sony's rebate offer (now expired...I think).

First off, this screen looks beeeeauuuuutiful! I mean, wow, talk about clean, simple and sleek. I don't need all the crazy bells and whistles such as speakers, USB ports, etc, that this monitor lacks...c'mon who the hell relies on a monitor's speaker; likewise, if you need more USB ports, get a freakin 4-port hub for twenty bucks.

One other factor to note is that this monitor is only analog signal, no DVI. If half of you reading this even know what that acronym stands for, let alone what the difference is, I'd be very impressed. Basically, it's a digital signal that should make images on the screen appear better. Guess what, I couldn't give a hoot about this; in fact, my video card on my 1 year old Dell doesn't even have DVI output. Unless you're a gamer that has no life, no girlfriend and sits reading amazon.com reviews all day long, then don't worry about having only analog.

With that said, onto the actual image quality. Well, upon turning the screen on for the first time, I prayed to the Lord Almighty that no dead pixels should appear. And the Lord heard my prayer and proclaimed, "Thou shalt not have any dead pixels, not even ONE, lest Sony give you a hard time with their dead pixel policy". And the Lord gazed upon the screen and saw it to be good. Ah yes, Bible studies ver. 1.0 amazon.com style...

...anywhoo, this is the most brilliant screen I have ever seen. The contrast ratio is like 600:1...that means it's amazingly bright and vivid. Be prepared to actually lower the contrast and brightness--that's a good thing to have to do with a monitor folks. The onscreen menu options are clear, concise and virtually dummy-proof. For all you fretting about manually adjusting the screen size, rotation, alignment etc., fear not; this is an LCD and it automatically adjusts all the settings for you, like most other LCD's on the market. I have the image size set at 1280 x 1024 on my Windows XP computer and everything looks magnificent. Text is clear especially using the "clear type fonts" available only on XP for LCD screens.

If you're in the market to toss your 60lb CRT out the window and upgrade in style to an LCD, this is the one. Don't worry about Sony's newer models they have out now with DVI capability. Chances are your video card doesn't even have the output so you'd be wasting your money. This is an EXTREMELY affordable 19" monitor. Now's the time folks...buy it.

1 Micron Cleaning is where you want to be

I highly recommend the book, Controlling Dust in the Workshop. In there I learned a lot about setting up dust control in the workshop. One of the more profound things was that we can only see dust particles down to 20 microns. The 1-micron particles are the ones that get into the tiny recesses of the lungs, and can do the most damage.Even though I have just bought a second JDS Air Cleaner 750JER, the author mentions that they are effective at cleaning the big stuff, but the little stuff they send flying through the shop. In all fairness, the JDS air cleaner cleans 99% of all particles, and gets 80% of the 1-micron type. I use them to try and keep a clean shop.What the author states is that if you get your dust collecting system together properly that is all that you need. You just need a dust collection system, and no ceiling air cleaners. Capture it at the source, he says, nip it in the bud, keep the air clean before it gets dirty. That is where this 1-micron bag comes in. He is emphatic about cleaning out the 1-micron size dust.The author also suggests that a cyclone dust collecting system is best. Without getting too wordy, essentially, cyclone systems prevent wood chunks, or even worse metal screws for example, getting to the fan blades, and denting it up, or causing a spark. The problem is that they are expensive. Also they do not pull as much air as the JDS Dust Force unless you buy a 3 HP unit.Combining the JDS dust force, the Woodstock International separator, and this 1 micron bag kit, you are spending about a third of the money, and getting the same results. The 1-micron bag kit is essential though. What good is it, if you are collecting dust from your tools, then sending the finer stuff into the air, and into your lungs?Look into the Woodstock International separator. It is cheap and fits on top of a standard inexpensive, 30-gallon trash can. Only the fine dust makes it to the JDS dust force or shop vac.So cleaning the bag is not as frequent.I would like to mention that I wear a respirator while sanding, sawing, etc. Not that little white cotton thing that leaks real bad, almost like not having a mask on at all. A real mask like the 3M Paint spray respirator. When I am not active, the neck straps keep it on, while it drapes on front of me like a bib.Going a little farther, I have a fresh air supplied system, with a helmet mask, that is 100% fresh air from the outside, fed to me from a diaphragm based, fresh air supplied respirator pump. That is a moderate investment. I break that out when I am doing something that is caustic.I had a body shop for 20 years. Did a lot of high-end cars. All in all, I don't have any breathing problems.There is a disease in the woodworking industry called, black lung, or brown lung. Comes from a long-term exposure to fine airborne wood dust. The government has announced it is officially a carcinogen. Ouch!So get the book, Controlling Dust in the Workshop, and read about how to set up your shop for clean, clear, and more fun, with less work to clean up. And spend the extra money, and get the 1-micron bag kit. It's a bargain, considering the money you saved buying the JDS Dust Force. How do they get 1200 CFM, relatively quietly, and still keep the price so reasonable. Just check out the cyclone units at Onieda-air.com to see what I mean. Hope this helps.
