5Great deal, fast service
By MLHollis
These are the only plugs I use for my boat. Got twice as many for less the cost of one box at the local marine dealers. Shipment came when promised, actually a couple days early. Will use this vendor again.

5Why 12 for the price of 3
By Drifnav
This product in the UK costs as much for 3 plugs as you get 12 for from Amazon in the USA. Is this yet another case of rip of UK. The only thing these plugs do not have is the red mark on the outside to line up when fitting into Evenrude Etech outboard motors, easily sorted, look at one of the old plug an put on your own lining up mark on the new one. Also thought I had ordered 8 plugs as the add showed a pack of 4 and I had ordered 2 packs. What a good deal to find I got 12. Great place to shop.

5Use this heater in my shop, love it!
By HotRods4Ever
I needed a heater for my 30`x42` Workshop. In this shop, the ceiling is 16ft high at the center span and about 14ft high at the walls, so there is a large volume of air to heat. The shop has 1.5" thick insulation before the steel siding. That's it. I also have sidelights that let the sunlight in. They run along the top edge of the 42' side so there is no insulation along those panels (about a foot tall x 42' long x 2 sides). This is a great heater. You simply plug it into propane and an electrical outlet (it has a 3 prong 120VAC plug). There is no on-off switch so once its plugged in the fan and ignitor runs constantly, making a fan whooshing and then light buzzing sound. Turn on the gas at the tank, then push and hold the startup button - the propane begins to flow and it sounds more like a small jet engine (not unbearable or difficult to talk over from 10 feet away, but the wooshing sound changes to a deep throaty sound).Low is the 50,000 or so setting on a red arrow dial. High gives you the full 85k. The dial is a quarter turn dial, and in-between settings do work also.In my shop its hard to work unless its about 40 °F. I wear three sweatshirts and sweatpants, plus a stocking cap. The heater can get my shop from 30°F to 40°F in about 30 minutes on the low setting. Getting it up into the mid 40s takes about the same amount of time above and beyond the first 30 min (again on low setting). The high setting works noticably faster. After that I usually turn it off because with the stocking cap and three layers, it's bearable and easier to work. When its colder than about 25°F outside I will often restart the heater if working for more than a couple hours.A 5 gallon BBQ tank will last 3-5 hours and a 7 gallon RV tank will last 5-10 hrs depending on my usage.Upon the first few uses I did notice a small leak in one of the factory tightened/sealed fittings near the regulator. The owner's manual clearly states to check all connections with a bubble solution (soapy water) but I didn't actually "had to" do that. I should have because I had a small leak. It was easily fixed with Teflon tape and has stayed sealed for years now.NOTE: I do run a carbon monoxide detector in my shop, which is recommended since this heater burns the propane directly (no vent to outside air). However, running the propane heater for even a few hours does not trip the detector with my tall ceilings. Your "mileage" may vary so be safe.I would definitely recommend this heater - its been reliable for three years or more and it works effectively.

One of the best purchases I ever made for my bass boat. I am a guide and thought this was just another fancy and unnecessary item. Boy was I wrong. I cannot believe how much easier and safer it is to control my boat.

4Mr Heater 25000 BTU
By A Customer
This is a really nice unit if it fits your purpose. I must stress however, that is if it fits your purpose. As I now realize, 25,000 BTU/hr is not an enormous amount of heat. This unit really is designed for use in a closed in space w/ minimal air curculation. The heating method is to raise the temperature of all objects in the radiant field so that the space stays warm. A breeze or draft will reduce it's ability to maintain the heat. The unit comes with a thermostat for mounting on a wall and setting a desired heat. I've eliminated the thermostat and just hard wired the unit. If it's cold enough to have it on, then I want it on. Mr. Heater advertises using the term "millivolt" ignition or something to this manner. This is misleading. This is not a electronic ignition unit!!! This means the unit has a pilot light. The pilot light heats a thermocouple which provides the "millivolt" current they refer to. The thermostat either "opens" or "closes" the circuit, depending on the temperature and thermostat setting. The "closed" loop opens a solenoid valve in the pressure regulator which releases the gas to the burner.

My unit is installed on a large covered patio outside approximately 8' above a sitting area. Sitting below the heater in a 8' diameter circle is nice and toasty, even with a slight breeze. Sitting across the table at 12' you can feel a slight warming effect with no breeze. More than 12' away....no impact. This is not a highly effective heater if used in an open space. As advertised....this is a garage heater. To get the heat I need I am adding a second heater across the patio from the first.

Clearances around the unit are important. I have 2' clear above my unit, and the lumber above the unit gets warmer than I would like. After 2 hours of use I can touch the wood with my bare hand without having to remove it, but it is quite warm. I'm thinking about 120 to 130F. I have some harditrim up there too and it is even warmer. Not too sure how long the paint will last.

Installation is a breeze. Includes a video if you need it, but there is essentially nothing to it.

Good buy....if it's what you need. If you are thinking of installing it outside......you may want to consider getting more BTU's.

4Good space heater
By S. Lau
I have used this in my garage for several years now, if I have my garage door closed it will warm the space pretty well. Directly under the heater its really nice and toasty, but the furthest corner of the garage will still be cold. In a 20-degree day with the garage door closed (I have a two-car garage with most of the garage walls NOT insulated), I get over 70 degrees directly under the heater (where I usually change the oil etc.) and at least 40 degrees at the coldest corner of the garage. Most of the garage becomes very comfortable to work in, that I usually don't even need to wear a jacket. BUT - as soon as I open the garage door, I lose all the warm air and it takes a little while to heat the whole place back up. That being said, I typically also let it run for an hour or so before I start working on my car, just so I know the area is nicely heated.Hope that helps. :)

4Good cheap garage heater
By Palhaco
I purchased this heater about 2 years ago to keep my garage about the freezing level, principally to melt ice and snow from the cars, but also to provide a comfortable sleeping environment for my dog (and to keep his water from freezing). For this purpose, it works very well, and even keeps the snow melted from my snowthrower, which I keep on the opposite side of the garage. It was quite easy to install after getting all the proper fittings and hoses, which are not included.I do have some complaints, which keeps me from giving this 5 stars.1. Clearance is very important. When the burner ignites, I'm always alarmed because of the small ball of fire that the heater emits across the burner.2. Because of the radiant heat nature, I have burned my hands while working under the heater, similar to getting a sunburn.3. I've had problems with the pilot light going out. It is easily adjustable with a screwdriver, but is very sensitive and this was very annoying to fine-tune in the beginning. I still have to adjust it about once a year.4. The garage always smells like natural gas. This heater worked well in my situation, because I had natural gas stubbed into the garage when the house was under construction. Had I not done this, I would probably opt for an electric heater next time, and this means you need 220 volts. Depending on the size and type of heater, most also require some type of vent.I would recommend this heater as it works as advertised for my 625 SF garage. However, I also recommend you explore other options first.

5good product
By Harry Truman
Just installed in a 28 x 24 garage with an 8' ceiling (the ceiling is not completely insulated yet). It's a cold windy day (0 degrees wind chill), and this heater is keeping the garage warm enough to work in a flannel shirt. Without the ceiling being finished, much of the heat is obviously escaping right out the roof vents. I do believe that once the ceiling is completed, it will do a fine job in this garage. Shipped quickly from Amazon with no damage; instructions easy to follow; installation was simple. Called Mr. Heater's Customer Service line with a simple question, and after punching a few buttons to get to the correct department, I actually spoke to a real person who also spoke English. Thermostat wiring could have been a bit longer. Two points to consider when installing:One, although overall very light, the heater is quite a bit heavier on one end due to the control valve, making it necessary to put a slight bend in the hanger to make it hang level. The factory could have positioned the mounting point slightly to the left to counter balance the heater, but this is minor and easily corrected. And two, be patient about letting air bleed from the gas line and getting gas through the control valve when you first light the pilot. My supply line is less than 40' from the tank to the heater, but it took several minutes of holding the gas valve in at the 'Pilot' position to get gas to flow.I'd recommend one of these to anyone with similar heating needs.

Got this Windline to replace a 2 step Windline and while the holes line up, the ladder won't lay flat so I have a strap to hold it up, while riding. Not what I like, but did not have to drill new holes and fill old ones. Really wanted and needed a 3 step so I am happy with it.

2Pleasant but over priced
By Bob from LA
Summary: A pleasant sounding speaker for back ground listening but over priced and out classed by the competition. Tonality is distorted to produce pleasant sound rather than accurate sound. Bass is loose and wumpy sounding. The 301's can shake the room but only over a limited range of bass frequencies. Direct-reflecting design hurts imaging. The combination of bad imaging, unrealistic tonality and loose bass make them a poor choice for home theater. Fit and finish are only OK for the price. Background: My roommate has a pair of 301s set up in our living room. I have a more expensive "audiophile" type system set up in the side room. Often I think it's hard to get good product reviews off the internet. You either have the people who *hate* the company (pick one) and are out to trash the name or you have people who bought the product and are defending their choice. You rarely have someone who has spent considerable time with the product (not just 15 minute store demo) yet doesn't care if the product reviews well or poorly. As I had nothing to do with the purchase of these speakers I don't care if they are good or bad. I have put effort into proper setup since I do listen to them frequently.Basically, they are not *bad* but you can do better for the same money. I don't expect these to match the various, more expensive speakers in my side room system while my roommate had these in the living room (Meadowlark Kestrel, Vandersteen Model 3, Magnepan MMG, NHT 2.5i, Pioneer HPM 100). However, I have heard similar priced models that I like better (PSB, Paradigm, NHT, Boston Acoustics, B&W). Many high end manufactures extend their lines and expertise into the Bose price range. The sound:Imaging: These really do not image well. As Bose says, these are sound everywhere speakers. That means you have a dispersed sound rather than tight imaging. An orchestra sounds wide and tall... so does a single guitar or the drop of a penny in a movie. This allows the speakers to sounds very big but, unlike some of the alternatives, you will never be able to tell the piccolo player is sitting just to the left of the first flute. This is not really a disadvantage if you aren't the type who sits in the sweet spot to listen for a while. But it can be a problem if you want to use these for home theater without a center channel. On the other hand, this is a reasonable trait if you turn on the music while walking around the house they will be fine.Tonality: They don't have a very clean tone. Bose has tuned this speaker to make everything sound pleasant if not really true to the recording. Again, if you just want something nice to listen to in the background they will serve this function well. These speakers are excessively warm. They boost the mid bass and roll off the highs. Music will never become fatiguing but you traded realism for that tonality.Bass: Several compromises were made here. Admittedly, the Bose can make the room shake with a moderately powerful receiver. This was great for college parties and OK for movies but it has limits. First, they have very limited bass range. These speakers do not go deep and they can not present all bass evenly. They favor certain notes over others (one-note bass). They excel at turning Watts into mid-bass but they just can't go really deep. I would guess they are done just under 50 htz. This is not shameful given the size of the speaker and /or price but people are often surprised when they learn how much bass is still left untouched whey they hear better speakers. Additionally, the 301's lack controlled bass. A tight thunderclap sounds like a suggestion of thunder. One of the true marks of a good bass speaker is the ability to *stop* producing bass in a heartbeat. That's what makes thunder clap and a kick drum kick (tight Bang! versus a loose wump like that car stereo next you at the light). The 301's wind up their bass then wind it down when they are done. The price competitive speakers from the companies above are far more nimble with the ability to start and stop quickly. Think of bullet train vs sports car. The bullet train Bose may be fast but it takes a long time get going (generate the desired frequency and amplitude) and a long time to stop. The entry level products from the like of NHT, PSB, Paradigms are like sports cars. Their top speed may not be as fast as the train but they can accelerate, turn and brake quickly (dynamics and transients). Which is better? Well if you just want to shake the room at one frequency go for the Bose. If you want to have tight, crisp bass, get something else.Home Theater: Due to the warm forgiving sound of these speakers I found them OK for music. Two channel home theater is a different story. Without the center channel it's important to have good imaging. That imaging keeps the sounds on the screen rather than all over the room. The 301's poor imagining comes back to haunt. A single voice or clink of keys becomes the size of a full orchestra smeared across the room rather than staying in the TV where they belong. In addition to the poor imaging, the poor bass is also an issue. The loose wumpy bass does little justice to explosions and mechanical sounds. The "pleasant" tonality strips believability from every day sounds.Overall I can see people saying they like the speakers because they sounds pleasant. They really work well as relatively low cost background speakers. The problem is they can't deliver anything more when asked. I accept that if they were $150 a pair but given the good choices for the $300+ asking price... well Bose is lucky most consumers don't bother to cross shop or that fewer stores sell the other bands I mentioned. If you are seriously considering these speakers check out Audioreview dot com. They have good reviews of similar priced products. It's OK to buy them, just cross shop first.

4Great for some forms of music, good for others
By Free Thinker
Two things I need to share up front: first, I have widely diverse musical tastes. Second, what I don't know about acoustics would fill multiple volumes of encyclopedias. I tell you this up front so you'll know the perspective this review is written from.We ordered these speakers after listening to them at a major electronics retailer I don't think Amazon will let me mention by name. Delivery was super quick. Be aware that these are large and heavy by bookshelf speaker standards. Setup was a breeze; I'm using an older JVC CD player/receiver we've had stored for years. The first music I played on them was a duet Jazz CD from Boney James and Rick Braun. I was just a tad disappointed. Don't get me wrong: sound was full and quite crisp, but the stories about Bose products being heavy on the bass are definitely true. The second CD was a greatest hits collection by BB King. This time the speakers KICKED A**. The sound was powerful yet absolutely pure.Next came a classical CD. I listened to a piece by Bach. Believe it or not, I think the speakers played it better than the other forms of music! My ignorant layman's guess is that, since classical has almost none of that "bass" sound common to Rock, the speakers couldn't emphasize that aspect of the music over the others. In any event, the piece was delightfully reproduced in the small room, the individual instruments both making themselves known while also blending together very nicely.Right now I am listening to "Peace of Mind" by Boston and, with its strong bass beat and electric sound it's like being at a live concert. This is how Rock should sound!A word here about volume: if you plan to put your speakers in a small room you might want to check out the more compact, not to mention cheaper, 201s instead. These 301s are rocking the house right now even though the volume isn't set very high. Sound is clean and distortion-free, however."Do Ya" by Electric Light Orchestra just started. Very nice!Bottom line: I recommend these speakers for good all around use. I put in a Jazz classics CD a little while ago and it sounded fine, the sound was very "full," and that's the only word I can think of to describe it, but I liked it and that's all that matters.I think I understand why Bose products are so polarizing: these are speakers for "the people," not audiophile snobs. They are designed to excel with the most popular forms of music. So, if you like Rock, hip-hop, even Blues - or, weirdly enough, classical! - then you will probably like them.If your taste runs more towards, say, flute musicians from the Andes, you may want to look at Tivoli or Boston Acoustics instead. Overall, however, I am quite pleased and would give these speakers a glowing recommendation."High on You" by Survivor just kicked in. Man, that song brings back some memories...UPDATE ON THIS REVIEW: I originally had these speakers resting on a fireplace mantle about five feet high, well above my head when I am sitting in my recliner. I recently moved them to stands that are about 30 inches high and pointed them directly at the chair I sit in. The result is greatly improved sound quality with ALL forms of music - just thought I should toss that in.

5An Outstanding Bookshelf Speaker at Any Price
By Tome Raider
The reviewer below identifying himself as "An Electronics Fan" obviously has a deep bias against Bose. His multiple reviews about Bose products--here and elsewhere--are transparently motivated by some animus against Bose. Was he fired by Bose? Did a member of the Bose family reject his romantic advances? Did a Bose executive accidentally run over his cat? Did he drop a Bose speaker on his foot and hurt his toe? The true motivation for this guy's negative reviews would be fun to know. In the meantime, what we do know is that he has no credibility, and his reviews (two here, others elsewhere for other Bose products; he's made maligning Bose his life's work, apparently)) should disregarded.I bought a set of black 301's several years ago to go with my Onkyo receiver. We have it hooked up to a television and DVD player for movies. These speakers are in constant use both for the DVD and for music of all types. The room in which they are placed is huge, with an 18 foot-high flat ceiling. The speakers saturate the room with exquisite sound day after day. The speakers work fine for spoken audio for DVD's; we can hear dialogue perfectly; I feel no particular need for a surround-sound system. Several times my young daughters have turned on the 100 watt amp with the volume turned all the way up or close thereto. I feared a ruptured speaker cone, but the 301's are very forgiving, no damage has been done. The cats sleep on the speakers; they clean right up and still look new after five years. These speakers keep on giving total satisfaction, and I quite simply love them.About three years ago I decided to go all out in another room and bought the highest quality stereo stuff on the market, or at least what I determined to be best after a lot of research. This included a set of the gold-series tower speakers from Monitor Audio. (The speaker cones are metallic, with some amount of gold, and gold connections, etc., etc.) These Monitor Audios have to be the best looking speakers ever made (real wood veneer cabinetry, with the gold cones and the black covers, etc.). These speakers cost well over a thousand dollars each. Well, I must confess, as awesome as the Monitor Audios sound, I can't really say they sound any better than the Bose 301's!!! They can maybe handle more power, but I assure you the Bose 301's will play loud enough to bring the cops to your doorstep in five minutes or less. So, when I recently set up my third stereo in a bedroom, I looked forward to buying a third type of speakers. I ran around and listened to what I could find on display. Well, after much contemplation, I went for a second set of the Bose 301's!!! They just couldn't be beat, and I would have gladly spent more if I had found something I liked better. But I'm not going to spend more just so I can say I spent a lot...there has to be increased performance. And, in my opinion, the 301's couldn't be out-performed by any other bookshelf speaker of any price range. My first set of 301's were black. This time I went for the cherry. Folks, these are absolutely beautiful speakers: almost as cool looking as my Monitor Audios. The black cover and the black housing fixture in the back really accentuate the cherry colored wood. No, it is not real wood, but it looks very nice. These things are simply gorgeous. The kind of "mod" or futuristic shape which Bose has designed really stands out in this lighter-colored version. And, yes, they sound just as good as my original pair. I listen to soft music (jazz, typically, or ambient) in the morning and these speakers deliver all the nuances at very low volume; I listen to hard rock at high volume on other occasions, and the 301's don't scare away or distort at all: these things would tear the house apart before they'd lose sound quality. So, yes, I recommend these highly. They'd still be the speaker of choice for me at three or four times the price.

5Great Transducer
By Geoffrey D Shayler
On the Garmin website they want $89.00 for this product so the value here at Amazon is awesome. Thought that I would have to pay alot of money when this broke on my boat but once again the power of the internet has saved me. The product does exactly as it is described and functions without having to buy any additional products if you already own a compatible Garmin GPS/Fishfinder unit. The Garmin 178C is the GPS/Fishfinder that is use this transducer for in my boat.

4Bose 201 A Great Value
By R. L. Johnson
Moving from a large home into a smaller one it seemed the right time to set the huge twenty-six year old quasi-wood enclosures in the car, take them to Goodwill and buy something of current technology yet in a smaller package. After researching big and small and a dozen brand names we went off in search of the right speakers for us in our smaller setting. Most we listened to were terrible. Inaudible, booming with no clarity or tinny, even the names of note. Then we met Dr. Bose's collection of speakers. We were used to our 12" woofer, a couple of tweeters and a bass that boomed until our chest vibrated. Though we didn't get the booming chest, we got clarity and sound that was true to the instruments and the voices. My receiver is twenty-six years old too and is screaming to be replaced but even with it and it's limited ability to equalize, the true sound we hear from the set of Bose speakers quickly grew on us and proved satisfying. I do miss the ability to go for the booming subwoofer sound when we wish and may buy a small unit to fill the gap. But....if we don't add to this set, we are well satisfied with the Bose speakers and feel fine about spending a few dollars more for a quality sound. So far I haven't found a way to distort the sound and am also happy that we reach a nice volume level without pushing the slider.I have read mixed reviews from "uch" to "the absolute best" and wonder how so many mixed expectations can precede the purchase of a set of speakers. We, as life long lovers of music and musicans ourselves, are seriously pleased with the Bose speakers even with the slightly less "boom" to which we are accustomed.

5Fantastic speakers for stereo applications
By BillJitsu
I recently decided to set up a small, but decent quality stereo system in my office so that I can listen to CDs and the radio when I feel like it. I had a Sony STR-DE197 stereo receiver, which worked fine...but the tiny Yamaha speakers I had hooked up to it didn't do my music justice.I purchased these speakers after looking around a bit. I auditioned them briefly in the store, but knew that the true test would be come when I got them home and hooked them up.Well, right out of the box, these speakers performed beautifully. I dialed them in a bit by adjusting the bass and treble on my receiver to my preferences. I also opted for the high-end speaker wire (Monster cable) because I wanted to make sure that I was getting the best sound that I could. The Bose 201 speakers do a great job for small-medium spaces, and have sound that belies their relatively small size. The bass is something you hear more than something you feel. For the type of music I generally listen to (blues, rock, acoustic, pop) they are very good. The highs are clear and the middles and lows are right where they need to be.These are probably some of the best speakers I've listened to. I'm not an audiophile, but I do know what I like. I have no doubt that there are better speakers out there, but for a couple Benjamins, these may be one of the better values out there. The only potential negative I can think of is that the speakers are designed to sit horizontally because of the direct-reflect technology. Oh well. They're a little bit different looking, but I am very pleased with them, and would recommend them to anyone looking for great sound.

4Nice speakers but NOT for high volume!
By Rick Devore
Back in the 1970s, Bose came out with their world-famous 901 series speakers. They could get extremely loud and produced thunderous bass and a big, wide room-filling soundstage. However, they were around $1000 a pair with the equalizer and stands. For the masses that couldn't afford the 901s, Bose released their 501s and 301s. The 301s produced a sound that was similar to the 901s at lower volume for about $200. They were, and are, great sellers. This review is for using the speakers in a stereo system. I haven't tried them in a home theater setting. There are a few major differences between the 301 speakers and the lighter, cheaper 201 series. (I've listened to both extensively.) First, the 201 is not really a direct reflecting system. It lacks a second tweeter that fires toward the walls in the corner of the room that creates the large soundstage of the 301 series. 201s only have a front firing 6" driver, a bass port and one angled tweeter that helps to produce a more spacious sound. They are not direct reflecting however. There are pros and cons to the 201 design. The cons are that they can't handle half the volume of the 301s, they don't produce a full direct-reflecting sound, they can't produce the deep booming bass of their big brothers and the trebles aren't as smooth. That's a lot of cons but the 201s are for situations where music is listened to at very moderate volume. With the 301s in my living room, I tend to crank up the bass and volume on my 100 watt per channel JVC amplifier because they don't sound right at low volume and you need to get that rear-firing tweeter cranking to bounce the sound off the walls to enjoy the full Bose experience. The 201s don't need as much volume to push them and they can't handle nearly as much volume. Getting down to the nitty gritty, if you play your music at fairly high volume and like deep, strong bass, the 301s are for you. Of course, they must placed very precisely to make the direct reflecting technology work in your listening area. If you listen to music at lower volume and don't want to hassle with the specific requirements of placement, you can enjoy a replication of the Bose sound in a small room.If you pump too much volume into these speakers, they will distort awfully. And, being that the treble response can be tinny, you want to keep the treble knob on your receiver cut back more than you would with some other speakers to acheive a more natural high end. Another advantage to the 201s is that they are quite efficient and don't require a powerful receiver. I laugh when I see them listed as "120 watt speakers". Realistically, they are rated to handle 60 watts each before blowing. If you actually pumped 60 watts into each speaker, they would sound atrocious. They sound best with about 10 - 25 actual watts into each, so you could use a receiver rated at anywhere from 25 - 60 watts per channel, whereas the 301s require a mimimum of 60 watts per channel, and ideally 100 watts per channel. So, if you want some small speakers that put out a nice sound at low to moderate volume from a lower powered receiver, I highly recommend the Bose 201. They sound best mounted on a wall but don't have the strict placement requirements of larger Bose speakers, or you could put them on a bookshelf. They could be superb out on your porch but you wouldn't want to leave them out there. There is a cult of Bose-haters who will say don't buy Bose, get Infinity or Paradigm speakers. Such "high end" speakers in the same price range may have a more articulate sound but they are small and thin sounding with little bass. I say "Go for the Bose".
