Product Description

Offers the largest "sweet spot" of any speaker type. Fill your exterior living space with sound. Sitting off center which ruins normal mono directional speakers has no adverse effects upon Omni Speakers. You can submerge yourself in pure sound whether in front, behind or to the sides of the omni speaker. This is what "surround sound" systems try so hard to copy. Multiple listeners in the area do not suffer from mixed signal noise but enjoy pure consistent sound.

4Good! But took some work.
By Benjamin Olson
When I receieved the item I was to excited to hear it before I installed it in a perminant location and I am glad I did. Everytime the woofer would hit some lower bass tones it would get this rattling noise, I thought at first the speaker was blown but after opening it up I found one of the lead wires going into the spider part of the speaker was bent and was hitting the cone causing a very annoying noise! Do note that this speaker is suppose to take your left and right signal from your receiver/amplifier and send the signal then onto your full range satelite speakers, I never found that until I received my item. I am actually not even using the crossover inside of it to send to my satelite speakers because I am a believer on sending them the full range if they are capable and they are. overall I have been quite satified with the subwoofer, it is very nice to have because you dont need to turn the volume up alot to get a full range sound between it and your full range speakers.

5Very Nice Addition
By John G
I added the TIC GS-50 as a compliment to a pair of existing outdoor speakers. These are mounted under the roof overhang aimed down to an outdoor deck/gazebo area. The existing speakers sounded okay but just did not reproduce decent low end frequency. This sub does a excellent job of filling out the low end that was previously missing from the system. Another great feature is the built in cross-over which makes the system more efficient. The entire system sounds very full at low volume without disturbing the neighbors....and when the neighbors are gone.... they can be cranked to fill the entire yard with impressive sound! Highly recommended for outdoor high fidelity.

5Terrific kid's room item!
By Melanie R. Mcgrath
This VHS tape rewinder looks like a sleek red sportscar--complete with headlights that run when it's doing its work. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase of this item because my 4 year-old now enjoys rewinding tapes almost as much as he enjoys viewing them! We constantly borrow educational videos from the public library. All of the rewinding necessary takes a lot of time AND puts great wear and tear on VCRs. This takes a lot of stress away from those expensive machines! Also, the price is a bargain!

5A better PDA than this does not exist.
By Sylvia H. Avellan
I have an NX70 and tested the 80....the 80 is AWESOME. However, remember 2 things: the 80 is the 70 with a couple of great new features....and if you already have the 70 there really is no point to step up to the 80. Key points...1. The 80 is the first palm os pda to have 32mb internal ram (as far as I know)...fantastic!!! While it is true that because of the structure of the palm os (compared to pocket pc) a good chunk of memory is not needed, the multimedia capabilities of the clie series made you wish more than 16mb were available internally. Sony listened and added the extra memory. There are large programs out there that simply function better having them on internal rather than a memory stick.2. The 1.3 mpx digital camera is a substantial improvement. Remember, up to 3 years ago that was the max you could get with a dedicated digital camera. Combined with the capture light you can get substantially better pics, not to mention the mpeg4 video clips you can store.3. The screen is beautiful, period. 480 by 320, the pda equivalent of 16x9 or hd. At it's lowest brightness level it's better than most color screens out there.4. Video playback is awesome. You can download from the web a music video or Seinfeld episode and play it back on the Clie beautifully rendered!!!5. Audio-the headphones sound great...the external speaker is ok for the job, serious music lovers gotta use the headphones. If you're in the business world and want to show something off the Clie you can use the speaker - it does the job. Pulling out headphones for your boss as if I were a teenager does not cut it.6. Great resolution allows your pics to be seen in all their beauty.7. Docs to Go software allows you to work on MS Office documents-suggest you get the portable keyboard if you intende to do serious typing...at that point it truly replaces your laptop unless you're a cpa or a rocket scientist.8. Voice recorder captures crisp, lengthy voice memos limited in size only by your free memory stick space.9. Sony retained the rotating screen which lets you carry the Clie like a notepad.10. Very easy to place music on the device.11. Drawback: if you want Bluetooth, don't bother with this unit; however, I have no need for BT....also has no WiFi built in, but again, I have no need for that either...WiFi service is still fairly limited in NE Florida although that will change w/in a year.12. The size of the unit is large. It's slim though and fits comfortably in my carrying case...it has a good feel in your hand...it's properly balanced which means it stays level when fully extended.13. If the 80 is like the 70, it's unbelievably sturdy...I dropped the 70 twice on bare ceramic tile and discovered (after recovering from the horror) it didn't even have a scratch! Of course I switched my case after that.14. Anyone that says it's overpriced is mistaken, you have to appreciate the value...ever have a time you wished you had a camcorder to film that coworker goofing off? Or a camera to avoid writing a lengthy note (of course after struggling to locate pen and paper) by taking a pic of a document? Or record a key moment in a presentation? Or wish you had something to work an important excel file, but your laptop had it's battery drained or the file is at your desktop at home because you don't have a laptop? This sucker has solved these things for me, it is truly amazing!

A BIG MISS I JUST REALIZED TODAY-IT DOES NOT PLAY WMA FILES. THIS WILL BE A PROBLEM IF YOU INTEND, LIKE I DO, TO BUY MUSIC ONLINE. MUSIC IS OFFERED IN WMA FORMAT AND THE AUDIO PLAYER ONLY HANDLES MP3S. I DONT KNOW WHAT SONY HAS IN MIND TO SOLVE THIS, EVEN THE AUDIO SOLD ON SONY MUSIC WEB SITE IS IN WMA AND INCOMPATIBLE WITH CLIES. UNBELIEVABLE MISS IF YOU LOVE MUSIC.

I insist, after playing with ipaqs, palms, jornadas, etc. there is nothing better.

5Sony Clie PEG-NX80V
By A Customer
Just thought I'd take a few minutes to express the joy in my recent purchase (NX80). My experience in handhelds dates back to the early Palm days, switched to PPC in 2001, but now I'm back to Palm and have found the perfect handheld for my welcoming back. I'm sure by now you've seen all the specs this PEO has to offer, so I want beat that drum. What I will do though is tell you that this by far is the best PEO on the street right now, I even rate it higher than the UX-50, which is getting not very good reviews. The NX80 came out around June / July time frame, just shortly after the NX73 and just before the UX-50. Sony took the request of it's users and put it all in the NX80, most notabley was the addition of the CF slot, which by the way is absent from the UX-50. The NX80 feels very solid in the hands and I love the jog dial and the back button. Because of these two features, you can literally use one hand to navigate your way around, it works fabously with Avantgo. I know you've read all about the memory and the way it's distributed, leaving the user with just under 16 meg, but I use a 256mb memory stick for anything I add, for example; I have almost 5 meg of Avantgo info on the card and will soon be adding family photos and more. Point is, it's not on the handheld and the precious memory is there for common functions such as To dos, address, memos and the many Sony apps that come with it. The PPC I had previous was the IPAQ 3835, loved it, but got really tired of the resets and hangups, and most of all the having to click and click and click to do what fewer clicks achieve with Palm OS. The keyboard lights up as stated and the pictures the 1.3 megapixel camera takes are more than satisfactory. You say wireless not built in, I say, how often do you use wireless, if plenty, then look elsewhere, if here and there then this PEO is for you, buy the wireless card (under $125 at mysony) and pop it in your CF slot that some other handhelds don't have and you have wireless. Battery life is not a problem for me thus far, I'v e always been the sync every day type, so mine gets a charge daily, but I did test it for a few days and the battery life doesn't drop dramatically like some reviews I've read states, even using the camera the drop isn't dramatic. The display is awesome, I have my setting at the very lowest brightness and if you didn't know it, you'd think it was set to med or high, it looks that good. Now that I'm using the Sony application launcher, I can't do without it. Yes you can take your word, excel and even ppt presentations with you on this beauty, and when you're in that meeting, it'll certainly turn heads. The cradle is terrific, you just lay the NX80 in it, no pushing, and you just lift it off when you're ready to transport. Oh yeah, you can hotsync with the PEO off, couldn't do this with PPC. There's alot of grumbling about the stylus, small and lightweight. Well I felt that way initally, remember I went from IPAQ 3835 (heavier stylus)to NX80, so I too thought it was flimsy and lightweight, but after using it, it's just as comfortable, actually moreso that the bigger one I've used before. Overall, you want be disappointed with this PEO, go to cliesource.com and brighthand.com for reviews and user reviews. Go to local electronic stores and hold it in your hands and you'll be heading to the checkout area. Sony pumps products out really fast, which is why this particular model isn't getting the hype, but you find a user of this PEO and I'm willing to go out on a limb and say they're very happy with it, I am. Now go get yours!

5A fantastic high end PDA
By Mark Johnson
I have had several PDAs, from early Casios to the fantastic Psion 5mx and Palm Vx. I looked for a long time to find my next, and I based it on the following critera:

1) It wasn't Microsoft - I have heard too many stories of strange behaviour, particularly in synching as well as the ever faithful "just reboot" to solve problems. Palm OS or Symbian were the only two I was interested in.2) I don't want a phone. I have a nice small Nokia, I don't need to carry around a large PDA just to make calls3) I wanted some nice features like MP3 playback, colour screen, etc.

Based on these criteria I looked mainly at the Palm Tungsten T2 and the Sony Clies.

Here is why I bought the Clie NX80:

1) Engineering - this is one sweet package. As soon as you hold it, you will know what I mean. The buttons are all good and in logical positions, it feels tough and durable and it looks fantastic.2) Features - well beyond my requirements, this unit delivered a fantastic large screen which is amazing, keyboard input as well as 2 types of graffiti (Decuma is great), camera and voice recorder.3) The Flip screen - this is a fantastic feature. By flipping and swiveling, you get the benefits of a secure package (when closed), keyboard and screen as a clam or a large screen when flipped around and folded back. To me, this means that using the keyboard is easy in open mode, I can read eBooks in bed with the flip around mode and the rest of the time I don't have to worry that something is going to scratch that gorgeous screen.

I am a technology nut, and I love my gadgets. This is probably the best all round gadget I have ever bought. The longer I own it, the more I like it. Better still, it actually helps me do work as well!

Don't be fooled - it is expensive and is not a small, light unit, but it certainly exceeds all my expectations for what I need.

Some people have complained about battery life - I don't know why. It seems to last through a lot of use. I read my eBooks at least a couple hours a day, book appointments and enter tasks. It lasts at least a few days of serious use and at least a week of more limited use.

The camera was one feature I thought would be a waste. Having said that, I am glad that the NX80 is the only model on sale in Australia (the NX73 didn't make it out). The 1.3 megapixel camera takes pretty good photos and I have surprised myself how much I have already used it in meetings to print whiteboards. Get some good electronic whiteboard software and you have an electronic whiteboard whereever you go!

Finally, I have to say that the Clie application manager is much nicer than the Palm OS one. I bought SilverScreen for the Palm to make it nicer, with the Clie I can't see that happening. It works really well with the scroll button and I find I can swith applications much better than on the Palm - particularly to applications that aren't coded to the 4 buttons.

Overall, a very impressive unit that I am recommending to everyone I meet.

4Unique, interesting type of construction set, but one flaw
By Christopher Thomas
This toy consists of just two kinds of pieces: marble-sized ball bearings, and short plastic rods with magnets in their ends, which attach to the balls with a fairly strong attractive magnetic force. Using geometric and structural principles, you can assemble strong, rigid or flexible sculptures.

There is only one length of rod, which might seem to limit the kinds of shapes you can make, but one of the attractions of the toy is in discovering that very complex and beatiful shapes can be constructed from simple elements. For the educationally-minded, this stimulates thinking about geometry, spatial relationships and physical forces.

In addition to just connecting rods to balls, you can actually connect the _balls_ to each other, using the magnetic field that extends from attached rod(s) through the balls themselves. This lets you build interesting kinetic sculptures that swing and spin with almost no friction. The magnets in this set seem to be stronger than in similar sets from other manufacturers, which makes this kind of construction work even better.

There's little chance of actually breaking any of the pieces, but I gave this a lower durability rating for two reasons. First, the pieces are small and tend to roll away, so there's a definite possibility of losing parts of the toy over time. Second, the balls are just barely too small for rods to properly fit around them in standard geometric formations. For example, one should be able to fit six rods around a ball at 30-degree angles, but the sixth rod gets crowded out. This might be frustrating when you are putting together a shape that you know should fit, but just isn't coming together.

5Not just for older kids
By Alexa & Jordyn's Mom
I have to say that I do not OWN this toy, but I was at a museum with my daughter and they had it out for children to play with. My daughter is 4 1/2 and LOVED it! She asked me to buy it for her and to be honest, I forgot all about it and happened to come across it just now on the computer. I will have to buy this for her. It says that the recommended age is 8-12, but I have to say that younger children can also have a blast with it. Though a 4-6 year old may not make complicated things out of the magnets or use it for building science projects, it is definitely a lot of fun to play with and easy enough, as well. Of course, it is not recommended for kids under 4 because of the marble balls...don't need them swallowing one! But for some science magnetic fun, it's worth the purchase at many ages!

5Fun for ALL ages!!! Best gift idea of the year.
By momoftwoplus
We bought these as a birthday gift for our son when he turned two. They were his absolute favorite gift, rivaling his new Fisher-Price GeoTrax set (and he's a train freak). He loves carrying around these heavy little marble-sized silver balls, and sticking the inch-long rods together. They are extremely, strongly magnetic. The polarized ends jump together - or push apart - and the balls jump onto the rods in strands of two or three. The balls are not magnetic, so they do have a tendency to get separated (and carried away) from the set, but the magnetic rods all stick together, so they won't be easy to lose. The more sets, or the larger set you have, the better. 35 pieces is not as much as you'd expect it to be, definitely get at least 70, and a storage box/jar/bag for them as well. We're storing ours (140 pcs) in a standard-size peanut butter (plastic) jar - the screw-on lid helps limit accessibility to little hands. The 35-piece set has 14 balls, five each of red/yellow/green rods, and six blue rods. The 70-piece set has 28 balls, ten each of yellow/green rods, and eleven each of red/blue rods. 70 pieces clump together in a wad about the size of a tennis ball; 140 about the size of a (melting? hehe) softball. My husband had to get a set of his own and loves playing with them as much as our son does. This is a GREAT GIFT idea for anyone, particularly a guy, of any age. Our son is good about not putting things like this in his mouth, but of course I keep a close eye on him while we have these out. I would not let age (if you're careful) deter from a very high recommendation!!! I would not trust a cheaper brand - these are very durable.

5Excellent replica!
By J. Leigh
(...) some extra info:

Engine comes out buy pulling on the front. It does not remove from the car. It just comes out about a 2 inches.

Rail gun pops out by applying slight pressure to each side of the panels that hide the guns.

When you turn the wheels, the steering wheel turns too.

Indeed a very cool replica. With Star Wars replicas selling for hundreds of dollars, this is a clear example of how replicas should be made and priced.

5Great Case, Great Price
By David Johnson
This case is exceptionally solid and well built. Considering many generic soft sided laptop cases are now arounf $50, this is also a steal. Inside is nicely padded for laptops.Note that the inner capacity dimensions don't include padding for some reason, so subtract about .25" to .5" from the given values.

5Perfect briefcase for the price
By John M
First, let me say that I have looked at a lot of briefcases both on and off Amazon. Unfortunately, nearly all of them either fall into the category of costing little, but looking like plastic toys or looking like finely crafted items, but costing many hundreds of dollars. Some even look well-built online, but once you receive them and see the cheap materials and lack of worksmanship, you realize that the price really was too good to be true. Not so with Vanguard. It fits in between a modestly-made case like a Samsonite and a luxuriously appointed case like a Zero Halliburton. Many of its parts are plastic. The handle and, I am sure, part of the shell are indeed made of plastic. However, it does have a beautiful aluminum finish that would convince anyone that it is nearly 100% metal. The inside is finely upholstered in quality materials. No "made in china" tags to remove or cheap-looking stitching. The latches flip open with a slick sounding "clack" and close very confidently. It will hold almost any sort of electronics, but larger laptops will have to go without their power cables. Regular to small laptops should be fine. But then, this isn't the case that you carry a large laptop in. It's the type of case you bring to meetings with all of your documents and smaller portable electronics. It wasn't designed for lugging around loads of stuff. And for this purpose of filling it up with papers, notes, and maybe the last-minute addition of a laptop or portable device, it shines and looks good doing it.The 83 will be my personal go-to case until I can afford a higher-end briefcase later down the road. Even then, I've seen Vanguard's other cases and I believe that I will go with them again on their Modern line just based off of my experience with this case. I really can't recommend this case enough. It may not be inexpensive and it may have some parts that could have been made of higher-end materials, but it's just a pure, simple, classy looking case for the money.

5Nice Case
By roadwarrior
I've traveled with laptops since the early '90's, all makes and models, many cases. My last case was a alum. Samsonite which after many miles broke a latch. My new laptop is a HP ProBook 4525S with a 15.6" screen which fits in this case like a hand in a glove, & with sufficient breathing room. Don't expect to carry your AC adaptor or full size accessories in this case, but if you're out for more than a day, you've got other luggage with you anyway. Newer laptops are thinner and this slimmer case accomodates nicely. I'm in and out of my laptop 20 times a day, access it while in the case & store it on the floor board or on the car seat. Hard side cases keep me from dumping the laptop out on the pavement if the softside top isn't zipped when I grab the handle and go. (Don't understand why they don't fit softside cases with two handles.) Fit and finish on this case is beautiful, sturdy with substantial latches which are easily opened and closed. Couldn't ask for more.

5Perfect!
By Frank E. Harrington
I just purchased the Toshiba SD-P2500 DVD player. We immediately took it with us on a four hour flight and all I can say is, what a perfect investment. It kept my two kids (1.5 & 3.5 yrs old) occupied which, allowed my wife and I to travel almost stress free (she still had to put up with me). My 1.5 yr old wouldn't wear the headphones and the player's speakers worked just fine. NOTE: I like that the speakers are now located on the sides of the screen as opposed to their old location under the screen.

The only con, the player is a little bulky and barely fits in my Targus case along with it's accessories. As a matter of fact, some accessories had to be left behind. I knew this when I purchased it however and opted for the larger 8.9" screen instead of a more compact player. I prefer the larger screen when I watch it by myself and more so when 2 or 3 of us are watching it at a time. The picture was very clear once you find the right viewing angle. Just a heads up if someone is looking for something more compact vs a larger screen.

...

Now we just need to find a carrying case that can hold the player, battery, dvd's, cables, car adapter, two sets of headphones and an occasional diaper or two-ha. ...

5Great picture, once you get the hang of it.
By Louis Castaing
This Toshiba unit is very impressive. I had originally purchased a bargain Mintek MDP-1810. Its picture left a lot to be desired and eventually it failed to operate after a couple of weeks. So I returned it to Amazon and spent a couple of hundred bucks more for the Toshiba. The Toshiba's picture is very good (much better than the Mintek); however, the viewing angle is critical. After experimenting with the tilt position of the screen and the picture controls (of which there are many and you can have three user-programmable settings), I've been quite happy with the results. I have not noticed any undue graininess nor any annoying motor noise during playback. My one complaint is that the blacks could be blacker. There is a faint illumination around the edge of the screen that appears in dark scenes, especially noticeable in the black bars in widescreen letterbox movies. This can be minimized by careful adjustment of the tilt of the screen. (If there's some other adjustment I could make, please let me know.) Don't expect the same kind of picture you get with a direct-view television. Still in all, most of the time this is one gorgeous picture. One other thing to be aware of: as with the Mintek, if you turn the power off, the machine will re-start at the beginning of the DVD when power is turned on. You'd think if the Toshiba can remember three video settings with the power off, it could remember where you stopped the movie.

It's worth it! Spend a little more $$ and purchase this Toshiba player. Don't waste your time and money on cheaper models like I did. I first purchased the Mintek MDP-1810 to save a few dollars but I was very disappointed in the picture quality. I could barely read the text titles on Alien Resurection (You can especially see the quality difference in movies with darker scenes). Unlike the Mintek, the Toshiba LCD screen has one of the sharpest displays I have seen while shopping around for a better portable DVD player.

My final decision came down to models: The Toshiba SD-P2500 and Samsung L200. The three deciding factors were: 1) The Toshiba is not as bulky as the Samsung L200 and has progressive-scan output. 2) The Toshiba has easier menu functions and ergonomic design IMHO. 3) Longer battery life: 3.5 vs 3 hours. I was able to watch the entire EXTENDED version (2 DVDs) of Lord of the Rings Two Towers before the battery died.

I have only two complaints about this unit:1) The view angle is not the greatest and takes some adjusting but once you find the right placement, the picture is sharp and clear.2) The included accessories are limited. I wish Toshiba would have included the BitstreamPCM cable to connect into your receiver for 5.1 digital output. Also, no car AC/DC adapter is included.
