3Recommended but not without reservations
By Mark Twain
The grill is useful in handling small scale grill like cooking. Enough for 2 people, or 2 burgers. It cooks a nice grill including beef, chicken, fish, etc. However, it does comes with some drawbacks.First of all, in-door GRILL means there will be smoke. Not as much as those charcoal but since you do not cook out door, you do need a good range hood. So there goes your stove top.Next problem is cleaning. Thanks to the teflon coating, cleaning is relatively easy. But the designer decided to make it more challenging by disallowing you to remove the grill surface nor wash it under water. It DOES get dirty and depends on what you are cooking, it could mean a lot of work!

5George Foreman Really Is The Champ!
By J. Elliott
My family has owned countertop grills for a few years now. Not George Forman grills though. We loved the convience of having an inside grill, but we hated the clean-up. The grill we just replaced had removeable grill plates (for easy clean-up). MY EYE! Instead of grease dripping into the dish provided it would drip all over the counter and under the grill plate itself. Though only once did it catch fire.

When we ordered the George Foreman I was very skeptical about it doing all that it is suppose to do. Boy was I surprised, it cleaned up very easily, no mess with the grease, plus no pesky kitchen fires to ruin your evening. The bun warmer is also a favorite feature of mine. I usually have to heat the oven to toast my hamburger buns, NO MORE! My husband and I are so happy with this grill I will definately be recommending it to everyone I meet. I'll also remember where I received a wonderful price for it.

5Awesome
By Joe
All Foreman grills are awesome, and this one is no exception. It may be small but if you're reading this review then it's the small size you are obviously considering. So for a small grill this is awesome. Cooks food quickly and all tastes great.

5Time For Thomas
By Richard R. Carlton
This is one of the sets that my grandson chose when he was 4. It is a wonderful idea and I guess it's my favorite....not necessarily his.The Thomas train sets are great modern versions of the classic indestructible wooden train sets. Simple enough to avoid the toddler age frustrations of getting the cars to run on the track yet complex enough to engage a wide range of ages (up to and including Grandpas). All the stories help with the imagination part....the books & videos provide an endless source of adventures that can be acted out, although most kids are perfectly capable of inventing their own episodes. Here is my advice, if you are trying to work your way through the maze of start-up options:First of all, you can spend a fortune on a huge set....even if you can afford it, I would start with something small and give the child the joy of receiving a chain of small but intriguing presents over a long period of time. It fosters the joy of giving/receiving and helps teach them to come back again and again to the same toy...watching it grow, asking for specific items from the stories they hear, etc. Several reviewers suggest painting an old coffee table and this is a great idea.I suggest the Figure 8 set (the most popular one) or if you want to spend a little bit more, the Conductors Figure 8 set. Both are complex enough to be interesting, but simple enough to give lots of room for growth. Almost immediately I would add a new present of one of the inexpensive engines (you can ask the child which story they like best and get that engine for them....or buy the engine to go with the video or book in the same gift)....these would be Percy The Small Engine, Bill The Yellow Engine, Treavor, (or a bit more $ for:) The Lady Engine, James The Red Engine, Gordon The Express Engine (he's one of the best stories, I think), or Henry The Green Engine. Now for the good stuff! Give it a month or so, and then reward the child with something really cool like the Barrel Loader or Rusty the Construction 3 Car Set.I honestly can't see the point in the huge multi hundred dollar system sets. If you want to impress the neighbors or something, go for it, but I'm telling you.....most kids will enjoy a large number of small thoughtful gifts, not a "keep-up-with-the-Jones" effort on your part.Good behavior can be rewarded with a pick-your-own trip to the store (there are sometimes when a real time shopping trip can't be beat)By the way, the Thomas stories are based on real restored engines that run in England on the Mid-Hants Railway Watercress line near Winchester (you can read about them an even plan a trip to ride on the real Thomas trains by checking out watercressline.co.uk). They are a day trip from the London rail stations, although I recommend using a B&B in the Winchester area and staying overnight if you decide to go. Winchester was the center of the old Saxon kingdom of Wessex of King Alfred as well as a major early medieval site (the Cathedral has the tombs of many of the Saxon Kings as well as Jayne Austen and Izaac Walton and it was where Richard the Lionhearted was crowned.)

5GREAT TOY!
By K. Fuchs
I purchased this for my 3 year old son for Christmas. He absolutely loves Thomas and this is by far his favorite addition to his Thomas wooden track set. He just loves making the chocolate bar magically appear and pop out into the cargo car. He plays with it for a good 20 minutes at a time. This toy comes highly reccommended for any child who likes Thomas the Tank Engine.

5Set Sail for Adventure
By A Customer
The Man-O-War set is really cool, it's just like a pirate ship or royal navey ship from hundreds of years ago. It has cannons, harpoons, a jail, and real cloth sails. They have prisoners and has a look-out nest, everything you need to have great adventures on the ocean. I'm telling you, you really need to get this set, it's one of the best Mega Block Dragons set yet.

5greatest yet
By A Customer
my son is 7 and got many of the dragon sets for christmas last year. he got the man o' war for his birthday this november. this is the best set so far. the ship is very realistic and has many ways that it can be changed for extra play time. the real cloth sails are the best. i had a lot of fun putting it together with him as well as playing with it too. the dragon is also very cool. the lights come on and the dragons mouth opens with the crystal which my son thinks is the best part. if you are into dragons sets this one is a must have!!!

5Dragon Collector
By A Customer
I own all the "Dragons" and "Dragons Krystal Wars" sets that our out on the market. When it comes to medieval knight and dragons with castles and fortresses, no one has produced better than Mega Bloks. Much cheaper than Lego, but every bit as fun and durable. Excellent customer service on replacement parts for broke, missing or other wise. I highly recommend these products to collector and child builder alike.

5Very Neat Addition To The Thomas Line
By Janet Boyer
I bought Stepney and the Museum Cars for my son at Christmas. He saw them in a Thomas the Tank Engine "wish book", and had been asking for them. The pictures in those brochures really don't do these cars justice! The jewel car is made of clear, sturdy plastic and is framed with a matte gold color. The train itself is royal blue. The neat thing, though, is that a treasure chest is nestled inside...and 7 plastic "jewels" that move around when you shake the car. The jewels are different colors, including clear, aquamarine, orange, purple, magenta, orange, and more--and are faceted in different shapes. The fossil car features a small skeleton of a T-Rex that's "imbedded" in dirt. The side of the car says "Sodor Museum T-Rex Exhibit".Stepney is sturdy, as well, and pulls the museum cars to their destination.Your child will love this set if they're into the Thomas line, especially if they're into dinosaurs, fossils, treasures, jewels/stones, etc.

My grandson is a Thomas the Tank Engine fan and loves to collect all the engines. I found the book about Thomas and Stepney and the musuem cars so ordered this to go along with the story. It made a nice gift package and he was thrilled to add it to his collection.

5Rock Solid
By James Webb
After in-store visits to look at everything available, I couldn't bring myself to part with $200 or more for any of the miter stands that really don't do their jobs any better than this one does. In fact, this one performs better than most. I have a 12" Delta twin-laser, and it is big and heavy. With this stand there is no wobble or sway, and the quick on-off clamps hold the saw very firmly in place without having to crank them down so tightly that the frame becomes damaged. This stand is made of clear-coated heavy gauge steel tubing. There are no crimps anywhere along the inner or outer rails. It was in perfect condition when it came out of the box. Perhaps the manufacturer has been listening to its customers - this unit has none of the flaws mentioned here by others. I'm frugal, and expect to get my money's worth from every tool I buy. I got that and more with this stand. $100 well spent. I am very pleased.

5Less expensive, but doesn't look/feel cheap
By Tom T
After spending some time working with fully assembled displays of a StableMate Plus100, a Stablemate XWC-36, and a DeWalt DW723, the Plus100 is the miter saw stand I ended up buying. With the Plus100 costing about $100 less than the DW723, you might expect it to look and feel "cheap." Absolutely not! It's all heavy duty galvanized steel except for the precision all-aluminum mounting clamps for the miter saw. Seeing this stand in person rather than looking at the picture above or even at the StableMate web site gives you a much better appreciation for its quality construction. For example, the angled brackets for the work supports in the picture look a bit flimsy, but they're actually 1/4" solid steel. I believe the manufacturer's claim that this unit will in fact support 500 lbs. The legs might sink into soft ground, but this baby won't bend.If you read the reviews posted here at Amazon for the Plus100's more expensive brother, the StableMate XWC-36, you'll see several comments that it takes about three hours to assemble that model. With the Plus100, the legs, extension arms and the keel beam come out of the box fully assembled as a single unit. All there's left to do is put together the work supports, the stop plate, the handle, and finally mount your saw on the clamps. It took me less than 15 minutes to completely assemble to the finger-tighten stage, then maybe another 5 minutes to tighten the nuts with a small wrench (the only tool you need) and to adjust the work support brackets so they were perfectly on line with the miter saw table. If you want to add wheels, more work supports, etc. look at StableMate's website for various accessory packages you can buy for the Plus100. But, with spare parts laying around most workshops, you can easily make an additional stop plate or more work supports. Even attaching the wheels of your choice shouldn't be much of a challenge for the average do-it-yourselfer.I think all the miter saw stand manufacturers claim their products will support all miter saw brands. However, some extra work on your part might be necessary to make that statement true. The "universal" mounting clamps are designed for saws that have the front mounting holes directly in line with the rear mounting holes. If your miter saw's mounting holes are not in line front to rear (as mine aren't), the standard suggestion is to cut a piece of 5/8" or thicker plywood slightly larger than the saw base, fasten the wood to the saw base, then fasten the mounting clamps to the wood.I took a different route and just cut a piece of angle iron to the necessary length, then drilled two holes to match the rear (closer together) mount holes on my miter saw, and one hole at each end of the angle iron to bolt it to the Plus100 mounting clamps. (If that's not clear, I think you can click on my name to email me. Put Plus100 in the subject line, otherwise your email might get lost in my spam folder.) I made that angle iron support after I ordered the stand, so by the time UPS delivered the Plus100 (4 biz days w/free shipping), I was all set to go. By the way, StableMate provides all the nuts & bolts you'll need to attach your saw to the mounting brackets, even if you have to go the extra step and mount it to a piece of plywood. The mounting clamps let you slide your miter saw left & right about 12" which is almost but not all the way to each end of the beam. Sliding my saw over as far as it will go, the closest distance the blade can get to the work support/stop plate is 16". So, if your project involves making a lot of identical cuts less than 16" long, you'll need to make your own stop plate and clamp it on. I suspect the same is true for the XWC-36; I don't know how close the DeWalt can get to each end.Sorry for rambling on and on like this, but I know how frustrating it can be to make a purchase decision based only on a tiny picture and a brief features list. Hope this is of some help for you.UPDATE: November 21, 2006. I've had this saw stand for a year and a half, and I'd now rate it 10 stars if that was possible. But, the reason for this update is that about a year ago I replaced my plain miter saw with a sliding bevel miter saw. Not ever having used a sliding miter saw on a miter stand, I wondered beforehand if the whole outfit might tip over, or come close to tipping with the saw in the full back or forward positions. My concern was unwarranted. The Stablemate remains, well, absolutely stable even when used with a sliding miter saw.

4Can't take a hit
By Mike
This is a nice light and portable miter saw stand. It breaks down quickly and adjustments are simple and quick. With the material stop I made quick work out of cutting 200 2x2 deck railing ballisters with decorative 45s on the ends. It also is sturdy enough for any materials I've loaded it with (haven't tried a 4x10 yet). Now for the bad news. The sliding arms have very little play in their sleeves, which is mostly good (they don't sag much when not clamped down). However if your saw takes a hit, which can happen, the party is over. The aluminum arms cannot tolerate any amount of bending and still slide in their sleeves, and they are not removeable for any kind of servicing. Thus the sliding, retractable support arms become non moving, non adjustable support arms, and the saw loses alot of its usefullness. Still, it's a high functioning, light weight, and very affordable stand, so go for it. Just watch for falling ladders.
