Laser Range Finder

Recently I purchased the Steiner Military 10x50 LRF as a possible replacement for the laser that I now own or previous LRF's. I enjoy going out to N. Dak. or S. Dak to shoot prairie dogs. I like to shoot at long distance. I have used Bushnell, Leica or Leupold LRF's. The problem with these products is that they are really useless beyond 700+ yards. So it is just a guess as to how far it is to a target. I friend that I shoot with has a high buck Leica LRF that he purchased for over $3000.00. This Leica is rated out to 1200 yards. It also has problems over 700+ yards. This last year I purchased a newer version Leica LRF for over $2,000.00. It also was rated at 1200 yards. It was a disappointment. I returned it to the seller for a refund. I learned of the Steiner LRF binocular while going through my American Rifleman. I went online to their web sight and read about this item. It was rated at 1600 yards. I purchased the Steiner Military 10x50 LRF. I paid over $2000.00. When I received them I went to a place where I could see how they performed. I got a reading on a tree at over 1,400 yards. WOW!! When I went out west I used them and was getting readings over 2,200+ yards. This is by far one of the best items I have ever purchased. 2,200 yards equals 6,600 feet, well over 1 mile.

Great pair of Binoculars

These were my first pair of nice binoculars and they have been nothing but great to me for a long time now. I have looked at similar binoculars by other manufacturers and none of them have the clarity that these do. The reticle option that these have over the standard 8x30 Military model is a nice feature to those who use it. For those who dont think you might use it dont even bother spending the extra money. The reticle can be used to calculate how far an object is away from you if you know the height of it and visa versa. Its a very nice feature but not necessary for the majority of people out there. I use these for hiking/camping and shooting. I have read some reviews that say they dont do that well in low light situations but i dont find this to be true. You have to remember that you are using a binocular with a 30mm lens. And compared to other binoculars i have used with 30mm objective lenses they do very well in low light situations. Plus since these are designed for the military they are really tough, so you can throw them in a pack and not worry about destroying them. Steiner has been making some of the best toughest binoculars in the world for a while and this is a great example. But once again i think the average person would do well and really enjoy the 8x30 Military without the reticle.

This 5 piece place setting of Lenox's Hancock china was advertised as Used/like new condition. It was actually brand NEW with tags and each piece in it's own sleeve. Like getting an early Christmas present!!! Beautiful...I immediately removed the tags, washed each piece and placed them with my set of Lenox in the china closet...$25.25 (usually $129 elsewhere) including my free Prime shipping. So happy to find this deal. Thanks, Amazon!!! P.S. got any more? I now have service for 9!!!

This product no doubt saved our beloved dog

We've had this product for about 3 years, and absolutely love it. We live on a fairly busy street, and even though we have a fenced in back yard, our schnauser always found a way to get out. We even tried a screw type of stake in the back yard however, within a month, he figured out how to unscrew it from the ground. After that, we used the same steel cable to attach him to the garage, he somehow snapped the cable!It was when we went looking for him after the cable snap, that we saw him down the street, crossing the street directly in front of a car! Our hearts both jumped and we decided right then and there that since nothing else had worked, we were going to get an electric fence.We went to our local Menards, and found the SD-2000. It was on sale, so we went ahead and got it. Now, don't let anyone fool you, putting this thing in is no easy chore. It took us a few days to bury the wire for it. However, once that hard work was out of the way, everything else has been great! In less than two weeks of following the instruction DVD, our 2 year old pup was completely trained! He hasn't tried to leave the yard since!Without this product, we feel almost certain that we would have experienced the tragedy of finding our dog in the middle of our street. This is something that no pet owner ever wishes to face, and for that we say THANK YOU! to Innotek.

Saved my grapes!

Two of my dogs were tearing up my grape vines. My wife and step daughter said I couldnt give the dogs away so I started looking for a way to keep them out without putting up an ugly barrier. This system worked great for me. After setting up the fence I put the collars on and let the dogs loose. They got a nice little shock and now run as soon as they hear the warning beep. My wife got home and watched the DVD and to my amusement.. LOL... You're suppose to train the dogs without shocking them first! My wife started the training routine without the shocking contacts on the collars but we noticed (right away) that they didn't need the training because of their initial shock therapy. Now the dogs roam the yard with the non-conductive contacts on (they never get shocked with them on, they only here the warning beeps) and wont go past the parameter. Well the dogs got a crash course, my grape vines will live, the wife and kids are happy that the dogs don't get shocked, so I'm very happy.Maybe I should have watched the DVD and trained the dogs first but now that they got a small taste of what the collar can do... they stay away from the parameter and I saved weeks worth of training. If they ever get smart and figure out that the collar only beeps I'll put on the conductive contacts and they learn a lesson again.Just in case anyone is wondering... I tried the collar on around my forearm (with the conductive contacts) and the shock is not painful. It made my muscle jump almost like a small muscle spasm but it was not painful. I would feel safe putting this collar on my kids but my they refuse to test it out and my wife would kill me..

Replacement Parts expensive

It worked - for a while.Customer service at Innotek is the pits. I felt like I was bothering in the guy on the phone.I had to call because my transmitter stopped working. If you read the warrentee, it is not covered for lightning stikes. One of the first questions is "Could it have taken a lightning strike?" How would I know. The wire is in the ground outside. I guess it could have. Try to prove there was no lightning near by. I realize now it was not engineered to survive any near-by strikes so they will not cover the transmitter.When I asked if there was any options, he tried to sell me a $250 dollar system. No offer to fix it or replace it. Price for just the transmitter $60 + S/H. I am now looking for a different brand system for not much more. That way I will get a new transmitter and new collar and, hopefully, a friendly CUSTOMER service..Yes, I will avoid this brand.

Let there be Light

We got this keyboard just before Christmas 2003. Due to the pace of daily life, I haven't gotten too deeply into it. But since it has been several months and no one else has reviewed it, I'll start the ball rolling. The reason why I purchased THIS keyboard because it has a touch sensitive (velocity) and lighted keyboard. The only other model that fit this description was the Casio LK-55. I just thought the Yamaha sounded a bit better and was made a bit better. It is also more expensive. The sounds are quite good. There is an XG lite implementation as well as the standard General Midi soundset. The lighted keys make it easy to learn.I have been too busy to hook it up to my computer yet to try out the downloading of General Midi sequences, but I am looking forward to it. The supplied USB cable is too short unless your keyboard is right up against your computer.I was disappointed to find out that the only MIDI implementation is through a USB interface. There are no midi in and out jacks, so I couldn't hook this up directly to my other MIDI keyboard.I'd love for Yamaha to come out with a version that had regular Midi jacks, pitch and mod wheels and an audio input (with reverb) for sing alongs. I'd pay double the price for those additions. For what you pay, I'd say you get your money's worth and then some.UPDATE DECEMBER 2004We've now had this keyboard about a year. Since my initial review, I've solved the computer problems that kept me from loading the software that came with the computer. (The problem was in my computer, and not in the Yamaha keyboard.)I love the sound-filer software. This software allows you to load general midi files from the computer to the keyboard. The built-in flash memory on the keyboard will hold about 10 new songs, give or take. You can remove them and replace them at will with the songfiler software. Once loaded into the Ez-250i, the sequences play back just as the built-in songs do, lights and all, but with one exception, you can choose which instrument sounds are assigned to the left and right hand regions of the keyboard. This allows you to learn any of the orchestral parts of the song, and to see any of the parts assigned to the lighted area of the keyboard.The software also allows you to use the EZ-250i as a midi slave instrument to play back sequences played by your computer's midi player or sequencer. This means the EZ-250i will play back any of the midi files you have stored on the computer without having those files actually loaded into the flash memory of the EZ-250i. In my experience, most songs sound better played by the Yamaha keyboard than the computer's Microsoft general midi instruments.I'm not that thrilled with the Konami game that came with the computer. It seems like a Japanese home market game that doesn't translate well to American audiences. My kids aren't even that interested in it. I had no problems getting it going though.Since my earlier review, I've explored the depths of the sound engine. There is a lot of synthesis horsepower under the surface. There is dynamic digital filtering on the voices, something you don't see on el-cheapo keyboards. In addition, the keyboard can split and layer voices, giving you up to four distinct sounds playable from the keyboard at any given time. The sound engine responds well over midi to pitch-bend and even portamento (gliding from note to note). It's a shame there's no pitch-bend wheel or portamento switch for live playing.Since my earlier review, Casio has come out with a new lighted keyboard, the LK-90TV, that competes directly with the Yamaha EZ-250i. I haven't seen this personally, but it has some interesting features. It has a TV output to display Karaoke lyrics from sounds loaded by the user. It also accepts smartmedia cards for user-loaded sounds, though, as I understand it, this is a read-only slot. In other words, you can't load the card with sounds while hooked up to your keyboard. The card must be loaded from a reader attached to the computer. Though I haven't heard it live, it appears the sound-engine is the same as the LK-55, which, to my ears, sounded distinctly inferior to the Yamaha's.In summary, a year after my purchase, I'm happy with my purchase, and I'd make the same choice today. I think Yamaha should add the lighted keyboard feature to its upmarket products, including keyboards with microphone inputs, pitch & mod wheels and sound editing features.

Pretty good, but could be better

The Pros: After a decade since its creation, the Yamaha's proprietary soundset of XG MIDI (Extended General Musical Instrument Interface) is still unmatched in quality of sound and its versatility. As all Yamaha products are, it seems well-built, sturdy, reliable.The Cons: No 64-bit drivers available. Old USB v. 1.1 connection (at least on my unit. I would expect them to change that into the 2.0 eventually). Comes with no dust cover, which is an essential accessory. Part of these keyboards are packaged without an AC adapter. Included (and boasted shamelessly) Konami Piano learning software is incompatible with Windows XP. It installs well, but crashes when launched. Konami CSR said this version of software is for distribution in Europe only, so they don't support it in the USA. When I objected that I've purchased it from Amazon.com in the U.S., as a part of new, full retail Yamaha unit, they said it's an outdated software and they don't support it anyway. Translation: Konami piano learning software is a piece of junk, if you have Windows XP).

Found driver for XP/2000 and maybe fix for bundled software

Re a newer driver, it appears that one can be downloaded from the yamaha.com website (http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/ContentDetail/ModelSeriesDetail/0,,CNTID%253D21387%2526CTID%253D205300%2526RLTID%253D715%2526DETYP%253DRELATION,00.html), or find the keyboard under the "products" link, then go to "downloads."Under the "knowledge base" link, there is an item "Bundled Computer Game will not Start with an EZ250i If the EZ250i is connected to the computer, and the game won't start, the Yamaha USB MIDI driver has probably not been selected as the preferred MIDI Music Playback Device in Windows.For Windows 98/ME:Browse to My Computer/Control Panel/Multimedia/MIDI.Select 'Yamaha USB OUT' as the default MIDI device.For Windows 2000/XP:Browse to My Computer/Control Panel/Sounds & Multimedia/Audio/MIDI Music Playback.select 'Yamaha USB OUT' as the default MIDI device."I'll check back here. If these items fix your problem, please post the results. I have 2 sons (8 and 4) and think this would be the perfect unit but am a little worried due to the problems you uncovered.I also understand that the yahama educational suite is now up to version 4. I don't see a download to upgrade and the office is closed today (Jan 2).Pam

Great case for airline travel

I purchased this case for a hunt where I had to fly from TX to WI and it held up great. Other benefits are that it is light weight and the latches fasten securly with TSA locks. I have an older bow with a 41" axle to axle length so this is one of the few case made for airline travel for bows this long. A couple negatives are that it squeezes the bow between the covers to secure it so I had to remove a portion of my sight to get the cover to close. I have quick release knobs on my sight so this isn't a big issue. One more thing I would have liked is a place to put a personal lock on the case. There isn't a way to lock the case besides with the TSA keys which anyone can get. Overall I'm very pleased with the case and would recommend it.

Absolutely Gorgeous but packaging so so

I have wanted this pattern for a really long time but they are pretty expensive so I have put it off. I finally decided to just take the plunge and start buying it a place setting at a time. The prices at Amazon are great and they let you know when they have dropped in price. The sets are everything I hoped for. Only problem is that I have had two shipments arrive with broken saucers. In the big picture this is not a huge problem as Amazon replaced them immediately and returns were a piece of cake, but as it happened more than once I would think there must be a better way to package the sets. Still extremely happy with my purchases, they are more beautiful than I hoped and are worth every penny.

fits 2 compound bows w/attachments!

Great case! The only hard case I've found that actually fits 2 compound bows with sights and stabiliers. Very happy after searching long and hard for such a case. It even holds all our arrows! Our bows do fit a little more snugly than ideal and it would be nice if there was a little bit more room. With the foam insert you could put just one bow and any other hunting accessories you're flying with like a knife, range finder, and binoculars.

With a little practice

This is not a product for everybody.To use it you need to be a touch typist and need to devote time to training yourself to it. My regular speed is about 45wpm and I average 18-20wpm with the half-keyboard but have not been working hard at it for more than a few hours.I have used this keyboard in Windows and Linux, both with the dvorak keyboard layout. I am sure that qwerty will also work fine.If you can devote the time to it, can touch type AND need to have your right hand free for other things, I recommend this product. For anyone else, don't do it, you will just set it aside and go back to your old keyboard.------Update:I agree with the other reviewer, an index for the F key would have been greatly appreciated. (I am finding this lacking on many keyboards lately.)

right handed keyboard

When I ordered the product, I checked the website for more information regarding left or right handed keyboard and found none. I ordered the keyboard thinking it would fit my needs but it did not so I returned it. In the communication between the seller and me there was a degree of sarcasm in his reply which I did not appreciate. What I learned later through Matias was that I needed to purchase a full keyboard that would work for any person, regardless of which hand was disabled.My suggestion is that the advertising for like products specify more accurately if it is a right or left handed keyboard, and secondly, the seller's price for a half keyboard ($390) was way out of range in comparison to a Mathia full keyboard ($595).

New to Cedar Arrows

If you have never shot wooden arrows before and want to see what it's like, these are the way to go. Excellent feel and nice performance. If there are any drawbacks, I wish the feathers were brighter and longer. Other than that, these are great to find out if you like cedar arrows or not for a budget price.

Great Stapler

I purchased the SLS 18 stapler to secure luan underlayment in my kitchen/breakfast room. I shot over 5000 staples without any jamming, double fires, etc. In short, the stapler worked perfectly. In addition, the soft feel of the hand grip is very comfortable, although it is already showing signs of wear.

Works flawlessly

I use this stapler almost exclusively to install plywood backs (typically 1/4" to 3/8" thick) on cabinet carcasses which are almost always 3/4" plywood. I have not had a jam or other problem in over two months of use. One nice feature is an integral 3/8" spacer on the nosepiece which allows me to very easily center the staple in 3/4" material. Nice little touch. I would recommend.

Could be better...

I used this stapler quite a lot since if first got it and would recommend it for the price, but my only complaint that kept it from getting five starts would be that every now and then it misfires and just marks up the wood - happens the most with 1 1/2" staples but has never happened with 3/4" staples, I was using Senco staples too, but no jams though. Overall a good gun, nice case and good depth adjustment and consistency even in thin delicate material.
