2Best sound for $$$; worst reliability
By Bran Englander
These monitors have excellent sound. I doubt you'll ever hear a complaint about them on that score. There are none even close to as good for the money. They are, however, one of the most unreliable monitors on the market. Capacitors burn out and power supplies stop working. Many, many complaints of this kind found on the web, with entire websites devoted to fixing them.A poor design. Avoid.

5Not sure what happened !
By Mr Lucky
I bought a pair of these years ago like 7 years ago or so , paid 399.99 for the pair they served me well to day i still have them and they are Keepers...I took them apart and they are built really well right down to the boards and heat sinks amp and crosovers never had a problem with them...These ones ar made in Korea and are built like a tank , i think they moved the manufacturing to china and the quality might of went down hill , the price is lower but as cheap as they make things in china in the last decade , they can afford to send out replacement parts or what ever.I had the same propblem with an orange amp that i had , the Korean one sounded bad ass , but they too moved to china one day i stopped buy and checked one out side by side and it was flat sounding...weird...well all i can say is best to look for an older set...Or just change the brand totally.

3Best Sound for the Price
By Charlie Watanbe
I listened to a lot of monitors before landing on these. They sound great, and the price was right.Having written that, they are not the most reliable speakers out there. You might want to buy a warranty, or buy from a near-by 'bricks and mortar' vendor. I returned two sets to Alesis under the manufacturer's warranty. Both sets failed during 'burn in'. However, my current third set has worked reliably now for more than a year.

4Feature-Packed, Easy to Use
By J. Moe
I've owned this receiver now for 4 years, and it's fantastic. I drive a $1500 speaker set with them, and for 80% of the max volume, it stays nice and clean. Of course, the volume is logrithmic, however a linear scale is also provided on the display. As for the unit, I'm not a fan of the orange display, and the paint is actually pretty cheap on the faceplate (it'll scratch easily), and it's matte, where as the newer "liquid" look would be much nicer. Being a less powerful receiver, it's actually shorter than most. Also, the buttons have a very positive feel and seem like they will last a long time.As for the features, WOW! It has tons of different modes like "Concert," and "Hallway," I however don't use these, they're kind of a gimmick. However it has a full fledged Dolby Surround-EX and DTS-ES, and 6.1ch processing for lesser channels. Unfortunately, there are no crossover reference points, or HDTV video upconverting for the other signals (only S-Video), but then again, this isn't a brand new $500 receiver.Overall, this has great features, and sounds fantastic for anything less than deafening levels.

I truly love this receiver. One of the things that initially attracted me to it was the 480 watts of power. I couldn't wait to take it home and see how my CD's and DVD's sounded on it. What amazed me was not only the really great bass responce, but the clearity. I watched my Phil Collins DVD and it was like I was actually there in front of the stage. For the first time I really feel like I now know how the artists truly sound. I can honestly say, I know I got my money's worth with this receiver! Thank you Yamaha! Jess

5Great monitor for the money!!!
By Freddie Bickerstaff
I'm an apple macintosh user, and stand by apple products all the way. I very seriously considered getting an Apple 17" studio display, but the cost is a little out of my league. After careful research on the net and checking it out in store, I decided on this NEC LCD1765. The style is retro and slick (one of my favorite stylistic devices is the blocky gameboy style gradient fade on the frame around the actual display), but more importantly the display quality is SUPERB! this looks as good to me as the apple LCDs (which i use every day at work)... Negative points: Funky button layout... may require a few "auto adjusts" to properly lock a crystal clear picture (but once this is done it doenst need to be done again unless you change the settings). Lack of DVI input. Once the picture is clear tho it is CRYSTAL clear, even with the lack of DVI. I can't really tell the difference. Good deal for the money! Sony style, apple quality, NEC logo on the front!

5Clearly the Best "Looking" LCD for the Money !
By K. KIM
Let me first say that I researched 17" LCD monitors for over a month before settling on the NEC 1765. After reading dozens of reviews, online and off, I narrowed down my choices to the following: Samsung 173p, Sony SDM-HX73, and the NEC 1765. The Samsung 173p (note that there's a huge difference in picture quality between the 173p and 173s models) admittedly has a SLIGHTLY better (brigher) picture aided by its 700:1 contrast, but it also cost $200 dollars more. I'm happy to report that I was able to buy the NEC 1765 for $450 with a $50 rebate and a $50 sale at Circuit City. The Samsung also has a slower response time of 25 ms (versus 16ms for the NEC) which is not favorable for playing games or watching action movies (both things which my hubby enjoys using the computor for). Then there is the SONY SDM-HX73. It has a high contrast (500:1), a FAST response time of 16ms, as well as decent integretated speakers. Plus, a unigue design. But when I went to my local Fry's and saw the 3 monitors side by side, the images on the NEC LCD simply looked BETTER, BRIGHTER, and CRISPER. Also, the SLEEK and modern NEC made the SONY look bulky. And even though having integrated speakers save space, they pale in comparison to a good set of exterior speakers. Finally, the NEC is the only one that incorporates a HARD SCREEN protector which allows me not to stress out if someone touches the screen (like my 3 year old). The only criticism I have read about the NEC is the glare issure but I simply adjust the angle of the screen (it's only bad if the light source is directly behind it). Personally, the only complaint that I have is the 1 year warranty. I have to say though that having inspected it, it's built like a tank - there's nothing FLIMSY about it. Plus, it arrived with ZERO DEAD PIXELS. I replaced my 19" CRT monitor and as pleased as punch - I should have made the switch sooner. With my new LCD monitor, and my wireless Microsoft keyboard and mouse, my "aging" computer got a MAJOR styling update!

4Excellent
By A Customer
When I go to the computer store to look at LCD monitors, they all seem to fall into one of two categories - those that look good and those that look great. This one is definitely one of the latter. I chose it mainly because of the acrylic covering that protects the screen. In our house, it is impossible to prevent small fingers from touching the screen. I was also waiting for a monitor that could display video and action games without too much ghosting. This NEC unit did not disappoint. Don't be put off by the location of the hard-to see control buttons (on the side of the bezel). A little fooling around orients you to NEC's scheme, and once it's set, you can forget it.

Criticisms:1. The stand folds for travel, but is really, really stiff. You can't raise the unit more than a couple of inches off the desk.2. No digital interface. Only of concern because I intend to keep this monitor for many years, and who knows for how long new video cards will continue to support analog? It doesn't matter for now - the picture is rock-solid.3. The warranty is only for a year. I expect one-year warranties from second tier vendors, but not from NEC. This thing is built like a tank.4. I am getting a bit tired of silver and black color schemes, especially on bezels. Sony used to make a glossy black unit with an acrylic screen. A real stunner.

Conclusion: For the price, you can't beat this value.

5Outstanding!
By DJR
I don't give out five stars lightly, but the LK-55 is simply outstanding! I've owned an older casio for years but never really learned to play. I asked for a lighted-key keyboard for Xmas because I thought it would help me learn, and it already has!I admit I am musically challenged, I can't really read music, and the correct fingering gets me confused. This keyboard transcends all that. The next note is lighted (as in all lighted-key keyboards), but it also has right AND left hand icons indicating the fingering. And if you can't look at all that at once, just push a button and a voice indicates the correct finger ("one", "two", "three", ...). It has 3 different learn-to-play modes. You can read the play mode descriptions in the docs, but suffice it to say that this tough critic really likes casio's implementation.I had previously, with much discipline, over a long period of time, learned a few bars of Bach's "Jesus Bleibet Meine Freude" (Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring). It is a beautiful song, and I was thrilled to learn a little of it. This keyboard made it easy. I didn't need to find the score, pick out the keys, put A-B-C stickers on the keys, memorize bars, find a recording to compare against, or determine the correct fingering (which I never got right before).Oh, I almost forgot, it has a microphone and it is great for sing alongs (even if you only use the built in songs like a juke box). It has my wife's favorite song (over the rainbow), popular kid songs, holiday songs, and all the folk & classical songs I currently wish to learn.

5Great for Beginners
By A Customer
In my mid-30's I decided it was time to finally learn to play an instrument - and the Casio LK55 fit the bill (my husband requested I pick an instrument that could be used with headphones!).The keyboard has realistic sounding instruments, and a pleasant piano sound. Keys are full sized, and the lcd display is very useful once you figure out what the general functions are.It has a good range of built in songs that you can play along with - I found as a beginner that most were too complicated but I'm working on it.I've actually found that I don't use the key lighting as much as expected. Don't expect this keyboard to 'teach' you how to play. You really need to purchase some good instructional materials and learn the old fashioned way (lots of practice!) but it is fun and gratifying to play along with the built in songs in-between regular practice. My only complaint is that if you want to learn a built in song using the key lighting - you can't learn both hands at the same time. You learn the right and left hands seperately - which I can understand as the lighting might be confusing otherwise, but it would be nice to have the option.I'm extremely pleased with the keyboard, but it will take a while before I'm competent.I highly recommend the book "Adult All-In-One Course: Lesson-Theory-Technic" by Willard A. Palmer. It's been extremely useful for learning the basics (such as How To Read Music!).

Pluses:1. Portable (can use batteries or power)2. Key lighting is great3. Large selection of built in songs4. Full size keys5. Can connect to computer

Minuses:1. Can't magically transform me into a concert pianist2. Headphone jack is at the rear of the keyboard & is awkward to access3. Can't learn both hands simultaneously

5Great Product, but beginners will Need help to configure
By J. Norton
This is actually a great beginner keyboard. The tutorial system is good, and the sounds are good. However, for beginners(like me), you will need some direction getting you PC to communicate the MIDI files to your keyboard. Unfortunately, the 800 number will support this product using the same manual in the box. If you write to Casio, it will take a week to two weeks to get the information I can provide you. So here it is for those who need it: 1.) The casio MIDI cables must be connected in opposite order, meaning the output-end of the cable goes into the input receiver of your keyboard. The input-end of the cable goes into the output receiver of your keyboard. Its counterintuitive, but this is the only way it will work. 2.) You must configure your sound-card by going into \'Control Panel'\'Sounds and Audio Devices'. Choose the 'Audio Devices' tab. You will find one of the boxes reads 'MIDI music playback'. Make the default device 'MPU-401' by choosing it from the drop-down menu. Hit 'Apply' then 'OK'. 3.) The MIDI software refered to as not supported in the user manual and by the 800 number is simply MS Media Player or Real 1 Player. Simply open an MIDI file with your keyboard onwith the keyboard set to GM mode 'on'. Some or all of the song will play through the keyboard speakers. The Navigation channel on the keyboard will allow you to pick-up different ranges the MIDI file is playing.

I hope someone finds this helpful. Once I got it up and running, I learned the tune from 'Cheers' in a matter of two hours with very limited exposure to piano playing. It is a very good investment for those who are musically inclined but do not want to go through paying for lessons! I highly recommend it now.

Transformers Armada Tidal Wave with Ramjet Mini-con Product Description:

  • Accessories: Ramjet Mini-Con partner, 2 missiles

Product Description

Tidal Wave is a robot that is made up of three different aquatic vehicles, collectively called the "Dark Fleet"; an aircraft carrier, a Cybertronic double-bowed battleship, and a troop-landing craft. All three can combine to form a single gigantic warship, which from there can transform to robot mode without having to separate. Each smaller craft has its own gimmick; the carrier has a working storage elevator for Tidal Wave's Mini-Con partner Ramjet, the battleship has Mini-Con Powerlinx-activated swiveling cannons (also usable in robot mode), and the landing craft opens up to reveal seats for Mini-Cons to sit on

5Buy This Right Now!!!!
By Jesse Hughes
This Decepticon is just plain GREAT! This figure starts out as the Dark Fleet- three oceanic combat vehicles. They are pretty cool as such. The Mini-con, Ramjet, can make gun turrets on one of the vehicles turn, and Ramjet fits nicely inside a small storage space on the aircraft carrier. The three Dark Fleet vehicles combine to form one big ship. This ship looks awesome and is mostly sturdy (some joints are a little weak but no big problem). Now you can transform the ship into Tidal Wave, a huge Decepticon. His arms are very poseable, and he is a very very cool looking robot. The joints that are a little loose as a ship are wonderfully tight as a robot. His legs don't bend at the knees and his head doesn't turn, and even though his hands are poseable, he can't hold the starsaber, requiem blaster, or skyboom shield. Still, I can't recommend this figure enough. I think he's my favorite Armada toy so far. Plus, as Dark Fleet, the three vehicles can be attached to Megatron/Galvatron as armor and weapons. Two thumbs way, way up for Tidal Wave! His Mini-con Ramjet is not too bad, but not the best either. I'm pretty neutral on this; but no fears- Ramjet does not distract from the awesome nature of Tidal Wave!

5TIDAL WAVE!!!
By A Customer
Just got this toy from ToysRus at Broadway. He kicks serious ro-butt! The first thing you'll notice about Tidal Wave are the colors. They're way off. No, let's do that again. They're --- WAY OFF! This is extremely disappointing. Millions of fans feel that our friends at Hasbro let us down. But hear this gals and pals: Consider Tidal Wave a Powerlinx version! I feel Tidal Wave deserves a Powerlinx mode and this one's perfect. If you want the show accurate version, just buy the Japanese one. That's what I did. Okay, on to the review. Tidal Wave may appear small in his box but when all three vehicles are merged, this guy outrivals the Decepticons in length on the literal side! It's bad that he's not electronic but he has plenty of room for Mini-Con battle jets. I prefer to attach the Dark Saver Team and the Night Attack. In vehicle mode, Tidal Wave has 12 wheels and rolls smoothly. The quad cannons work well as does the runway compartment designed to store Ramjet who is a miniature masterpiece! He's so tiny and cute as an evil hamster!

Transforming Megatron's right-hand man to robot mode is simple. In this mode, he towers over everyone except Super Optimus. Tidal Wave can move his legs sideways like Megatron. He's got great poseability in his arms and his head is huge and mean. The colors look fantastic --- a nice touch of flavor.

The Armada show doesn't have a name for Megatron and Tidal Wave's fusion but I do. I call it --- Mega Wave or Tidal Megatron! And when I merge Galvatron with Tidal Wave, he becomes --- Galva Wave! The combined mode is very bulky but nonetheless awesome! This is the very first time Megatron has been capable of merging with someone! Maybe in Energon, Scorponok will fuse with Megs and be called Scorpatron.

Overall, Tidal Wave is a must buy. This dude is in my book as one of the top 5 Armada bots. Get him while ya still can!

5good & plenty
By Michael Goulish
I like the quality of this hose. It's hard to kink, and feels nice & sturdy. And for my purpose it's nice to have the great big length.I put fittings on it -- the Gilmour Green Thumb ones I reviewed somewhere -- and it's all working well. Also, now that I got this, I see that it's the exact same type as one other hose I got 5 or 6 years ago. ( I have a lot of hose around here. ) And that one I left outside for several years, year-round. It's still doing fine, just a little mold or something on it. It was sort of buried under tall dead grass for a few years. Still works great.
