Glad I waited till I found this.

This was exactly what I was looking for. Super fast surface, heavy so it doesn't slide, and a real nice width and depth. It doesn't mark overly easy either. The height works perfect on my countertop that I don't have that slight bend in my back like I had with other thinner boards. That was something very important for me when selecting a board. My knees and back are thankful. What a difference that bit of extra height makes. If you place a dry paper towel underneath it not only protects the countertop but further helps with the weight for ZERO board movement while in use. Once you treat the board with the proper oil, the colors really pop. It looks fantastic. As a long time foodie and now an older culinary student, I had the patience, stubborness, and money to search for the right tool till if found it. This is it. I bought it a month ago and I literally use this everyday at home. I have no regrets other than it took me so long to find this. It is a permanent fixture for our kitchen counter and was the missing piece all along. Great product. I highly recommend this.

Beautiful Block

The block was beautiful. No blemishes on the surface like some others mentioned and my son (a chef) was very pleased. Prior to ordering I looked at other blocks in a store and this one was much less expensive, larger AND the surface was prettier. Highly recommend.

Very solid technology; don't hesitate

I read other reviewer's statements and cannot comment as to why her unit was unacceptable for her. But I can say that I've found this item to be exceedingly functional: heats very quickly, range of heat settings proves enormously useful, and unit works very well. I have thick-shafted hair that does not take curl easily, yet this curling iron works well, and quickly so. Furthermore, it does not at all pull the hair: the ceramic coating makes for very smooth and pain-free/tug-free operation. It is the same technology that has received high reviews in all other barrel widths, among the new Conair ceramic curling irons. Don't hesitate. Note that I do have smaller hands, and some folks have commented (re: other iron widths) that the dial for the heat settings can too easily be turned while using. I HAVE NOT FOUND THIS PROBLEM, and can only say this unit has satisfied my requirements for an accessory item of this sort. I would not hesitate to purchase this item at all, and recommend it highly.

Its pretty amazing

To tell you the truth i ordered it but i wasn't really convinced it was going to work because i have bought so many styling products and non of them ever really worked, so when i got the conair curling iron and tried it i was amazed with the results my hair looked exactly as if my hairdresser did it and the curls lasted for three days, so i recommend this for every girl out there, ENJOY !

Best Curling Iron I ever owned

Im back here 20 months after I bought this, because it broke and I want another one.This sucker heats up fast and I love that feature. Just don't let this touch your head, ( as I did several times, oooh that is painful and takes awhile to heal) I used the top heat setting but it is adjustable. I have fine limp hair and this would curl it and hold.Very hard to find for me. Im getting another one, even though Im paying more this time.

Simple to install. Includes instructions and the tools you need. It also include a new filter which I didn't expect.BTW: The instructions warn you that the bulb has mercury in it and you need to dispose of it properly.

This is a good projector for movies and netflix

I didn't know what to look for when replacing my Epson S1 projector (it began to only project green). All the comments about interlacing 720 vs 1080 or whatever was very helpful. Net, net, it is a HUGE improvement and really is clear. I have it on the ceiling front projected on a a screen. I was so impressed I went out and got a Bluray player ([...]) with Netflix and Youtube online enabled. SO COOL! I can now watch movies in HD, download movies from Netflix, and watch videos on Youtube. I did buy the 25 ft HDMI cord to connect the new player to the projector. The projector also has an S-video input so I kept my old player and my old S-video cable but connected it to the new projector. I didn't think the projector had that input so I was surprised. The only setup that i did was to get the ceiling front projected image so it was not upsidedown. This was petty easy and was documented in the manual. I didn't do ANYTHING else. Amazing. The manual talks about potential issues with different interlace rates or frame speeds, blah blah blah. I dreaded having to even read about it or have to solve an issue. But I had NO PROBLEMS and it just worked right away for both the s-video and HDMI connections. Highly recommended.

Epson S1

Looking at the S1 in respect to using it for home theatre -* it provides a brighter picture than most Home Theatre Projectors at 1200 Lumens* the picture is very clear* the colours are accurate and vibrant* the contrast is average. DLP PJ's like the Infocus X1 have better contrast but u risk seeing rainbow effects with cheap DLP PJ's* It has a short throw lens so 10 feet gets approx 100 inch diagonal screen so it can suit small rooms down to say 9 x 9 feet* It doesnt have a genuine zoom feature so placement in a room is limited* It is SVGA resolution but with the .5 size pixels (instead of .7 on most SVGA PJ's) screen door/pixelation is much reduced. I have it in my 12' by 11' bedroom at a diagonal screen size of approx 95' and it looks supurb.* Fan sound is about average. It exhausts the air out the front so can be mounted close to a wall* It doesnt have manual individual colour adjustments. The 5 preset viewing modes will be fine for most, coupled with the ability to adjust contrast/brightness.* Try to position the PJ at right angles to the screen in order to avoid using keystone correction. The picture looks slightly better if u dont use keystone correction with this PJ.* The PJ itself is very inexpensive and the replacement lamps are the cheapest i have ever seen. Would be good if the lamp could go more than 2000 hours but since they are so cheap its not so much of an issue.* Many S1's are sold/have been sold so it should be easy to get replacement items such as lamps in the future.* Doesnt have a individual component video connection. U have to use the RGB port so if u have a pc u have to share this port. Would have been good to have a seperate component video port.

There are several entry level PJ's which are providing performance at a level previously only found on PJ's much more expensive. At similar to the EPSON S1 price point you could look at Infocus X1, Hitachi CPS210, Sanyo Z1 amongst others.

In Summary Epson S1 - Bright, very clear picture, excellent colours, short throw, cheap globes

Im very happy with the S1. The most important issue above all is the picture and this PJ's picture is crystal clear, bright and vibrant.

Start Charging Admission!

Great product for viewing DVDs and other video sources on a big (100"+ screen). Projects the best(movie house like) picture with a component out, progressive DVD player. Buy the special component to VGA cable - it is worth it. Picture will rival plasma and projection TVs. Projects an image that will make you think you are in the movies! The unit looks very modern.

Vibrant and accurate colors, bright image, low fan noise and little pixelation (none if you set the lens a touch off focus for a softer image) make this an excellent and cost effective way to start a home theater. Picture is very competitive with the Infocus X1, however the Epson has no rainbow problems(it is LCD) which contribute to eyestrain and fatigue. I've seen them run together and I prefer the Epson image overall. The Epson has color saturation that is second to none. Bulbs cost very little too. Team it up with a home theater in a box system and start charging your friends admission!

Good projector!

I purchased this projector two weeks ago and I am very pleased with it. When I connect it to my computer the image is very bright and I do not need to darken the room much at all to view it. The room needs to be a bit darker when viewing TV or DVD/VHS movies. My son uses it to play GameCube games--which is really fantastic because of the size of the image! However, for some of the games (Lord of the Rings) we really need to darken the room to see the screen well.

I have used LCD projectors for the past five years in educational settings. This is the first one I have purchased and I am extremely pleased with it. The only negative comment I can make about it is that the zoom feature doesn't change the size of the image by much. I wanted to set the projector on a stand near one wall and project it to the wall on the other side. When I do this the image is bigger than the wall space and I can't change its size by much using the zoom feature. Instead I have to move the projector into the middle of the room and operate it from there. Even with this inconvenience, I still think it is an excellent projector and so far I would recommend it to anyone who wants to see beautiful color images larger than life!

Stabila "Jammer" kit -- the 32" was off from the factory

N.B. I would now update this rating to 5 stars. See Addendum below.This kit comes with two levels, both ""certified" for level to .029 degrees...plus or minus 1/32" over 60"." The 32" level that came in my kit was well out of bounds for good work, and, because I foolishly did not test it, cost me some sloppy work before I stopped having blind faith in Stabila and tested the level. So, four suggestions:1. ALWAYS test any level you buy IMMEDIATELY when you first get it (so you can return it poste haste, if it doesn't satisfy you) and periodically thereafter -- especially, if your results give you any concern that something besides you might be off...2. Do not blindly trust any manufacturer, regardless of reputation or guaranty. The unit may be guarantied, but then there's the problem of actually getting a unit exchanged.3. With levels, there is enough variation, even in Stabila's models, that it pays to actually go to a store with some shim stock and test the level right there, picking one that is dead on. Unless you don't care.4. Stabila tells us that there is no Parallax problem: "The tradesman can read our vials from any position in a 300 degree arc, without parallax problems. He does not have to position himself at 90 degrees to the vial and bubble in order to get an accurate reading. As any "tradesman" will tell you, this is absolutely not true; ALWAYS read across the CENTER of the vial (try it both ways, yourself; note the difference). Otherwise, you might as well buy a cheap level.It is true that these levels are about as fine as you can get in a non-adjustable bubble or "spirit" level. If you doubt that, go to stabila.com and they'll tell you how wonderful their product is. They'll also tell you that, regarding their "Laser Spirit Level," "The vial accuracy is .014 degrees (twice as accurate as our best spirit level)." I for one would be GLAD to pay whatever extra this accuracy costs. I think that, since it is available, it should be offered in a "premium" box beam level -- because "3 tenths of a degree, +/- 1/64" in 60" -- is not all that accurate, in my estimation, and makes the argument for adjustable vials. Stabila also states, "We guarantee the accuracy of our vials for the user's lifetime." I like that; let's see what actually happens.Customer service over the phone at Stabila has been wonderful, so far. Now, I hope that this continues to be so until I get a proper level actually in my hands.The whole problem could have been avoided if I had followed the suggestions above.Addendum 1/1/07: I am pleased to report that Stabila replaced my level with a new one that read within its published tolerance. Further, they did it courteously and without hassle. I have used it for quite awhile now, and am very satisfied; kudos for Stabila, a company that stands behind its product. I would change my rating of Stabila to 5 stars if I knew how to modify my prior rating.

What a magnetic personality

We all know that Stabila makes the best levels in the world, but this new magnetic jamber set is killer. The magnets are incredible. I even used the 78" level on a wood door frame and Stabila was smart enough to line up the magnets to line up with the door hinges. I was able to work on a wood door frame hands free. This is an incredible set of levels. Any professional worth their salt needs to have this set. Stabila rocks!

Level and Plumb

Has the Strongest magnets hands down. If your working in an industral plant like I do, you have to be careful where you put it down because it will vacuuum the groung of all metalic bits around it. Kinda hard to get all that trash off!Well built, easy to see bubble, light weight.

Quality Tool

I was a little wary about not being able to check this level before buying it. However everything worked out fine. I guess buying a quality tool from a reputable company online is O K and then you have Amazons easy return just in case. The level arrived in fine shape and should last many years. You might consider a case just for protection and storage.

This is Professional!

I am a contractor for 20 years. I have just recently started using Stabila levels and I must say they are worth the money! Yes, they are a little expensive, but then again the work I do is not "low end" so neither should my tools be. These levels are a pleasure to use, they are easy to read and they are accurate! Yes, you can actually see the bubble. The end caps are removable so you can carry a line tight into a corner. The 78" level is a must if you install doors, I find I use it quite often.

A solid level set, but I prefer the Plumb-It for door work

I generally love Stabilia levels, and I own 5 of them, but for setting doors I prefer to use a combination of a shorter Stabilia (unless it's a French/center meet door situation) and my Plumb-It PIX 5.0. The shorter Stabilia is great for determining how much out of level the floor is (very often the case in older home remodeling situations), while I think the Plumb-It works better than the Stabilia for the vertical jamb legs. The main reason why I prefer the Plumb-It is because it's extendable so it'll fit a smaller sized door (down to 5' like you may encounter for a utility or storage access door) as well as a taller door like the 7' and 8' doors that are becoming more popular on higher end projects. Because it goes from 5' to almost 14' the Plumb-It PIX 5.0 easily fits in the back of my truck whereas the longer Stabilia has trouble. When setting French (center-meet) doors and sliders I use the Plumb-It becase I can set it to the exact width of the opening.I also use my PIX 5.0 for various framing and trim tasks, but if door hanging is your primary purpose for getting a jamber set, then you'd be better served by the Plumb-It PIX 3.0 or PIX 4.0 since they collapse to shorter lengths yet still extend tall enough for the majority of door work (and taller than Stabilia's 6'8" jamber). Plus they're cheaper.I don't work for Plumb-It or know anyone who does, I just think they make a cool product and I like that it was designed by a carpenter for carpenters.

This Jamber set is must have level combo for hanging doors

I have worked as a high end finish carpenter in the San Fransico Bay Area for about 7 years and I have yet to see a better made level for finish wood work. I used to own a levolution 3 piece combo kit it was a great level kit but no where near the accuracy and precision of a stabila level. After using a stabila I will never buy another brand of level. Between installing cabinets and hanging doors these levels are a must have tool. Thank you Stabila for making quality tools for professional wood workers!!!
