4Awesome Under-Rated Amp
By C. Moore
This amp has been awesome. It is way under-rated at 12volt instead of the usual 14.4V. The one I have puts out 70W X 4 @ 4ohms and 140W X 4 @ 2ohms at 14.4V. The birthsheet has the rms total power at 12v measured at 460W RMS into a 2 Ohm load. This is an awesome amp.

5Awesome
By Sara Swihart
I think that it's great that they design a new Hello Kitty CD player every year or so. The design on this one is great because it is bright and the plastic house itself is just more solid than the previous two.

However, it has some of the same flaws as the previous models. This boombox works well in a small room or when working in a small area. Due to the popularity of CDs, I didn't miss the cassette deck. I did think that this boombox was a little expensive considering the sound output and lack of cassette deck.

This boombox also presents a new problem. The CD is placed in the player vertically, instead of horizontally. If you don't snap it onto the wheel inside, it could damage the CD, so you need to be careful.

To increase the educational value of this toy, someone suggested getting karaoke CDs with lyrics books. It is a great way to introduce reading or to improve on reading skills.

5Perfect for HK fans of all ages
By Leslie
I found my Hello Kitty Pocketbook Boombox at Target and fell in love instantly! The design of the boombox is super cute and very durable. I take mine to work, on picnics and anywhere else I need some music and Hello Kitty. I get many compliments and questions, so it makes for a great conversation piece.I have a young daughter that uses it for her read-along storybooks and language CDs, so it certainly can be of educational use. I use it with my iPod so I am never without music. The carrying strap is very durable. The boombox has withstood some minor bumps nicely, but I would not suggest buying it for children under 4 or those that tend to be rough with their toys. Reception is okay, but the sound is pretty good for something so small. (...)

5Great CD Player
By B. Albrecht
This as a great gift for the Hello Kitty lover in your family. It's very durable and easily packed to take on short vacations. The kids love it and my 3 year old easily figured out how to use it. The carry strap is a nice touch and the ability to pack the cord inside the unit is also nice for travel.

5Beautiful Canterwood ATX board
By Bob Carpenter
The Asus P4C800 deluxe provides the support for the new Intel 875 "Canterwood" chipset (Intel 875P MCH north bridge and Intel ICH5 south bridge). ASUS provides support for the new 800MHz front-side bus, 2*200MHz DDR memory (PC3200), hyperthreading and serial ATA drives. So far, the only chip available that exploits all of this power is the 3.0MHz Intel P4 "Northwood". I have two of these boards and built two machines, one with the 3.0MHz P4 with 800MHz FSB and one with a 2.4MHz P4 with 533MHz FSB, and both installed and booted with no problem.

The deluxe version of the ASUS board foregoes the Intel chipset's support for RAID, replacing it with a Promise 20378 RAID controller, which is a bit beefier and frees the chipset up for other work. The Promise controller supports RAID 0 or RAID 1 for two serial ATA drives and/or two UltraATA drives (or both, but who knows what'll happen if you mix drive speeds to create a RAID 0/1 configuration). I went with RAID 0 and two Seagate Barracuda drives for optimal speed. There's room for 2 more serial ATA disks, as well as four more UltraATA disks. Installation of the RAID was the only tricky part, as Windows XP required the drivers to be burned onto a floppy and inserted in the midst of the OS installation.

The board also provides the 3COM 3C940 Gigabit LAN controller, which worked perfectly as soon as the driver was installed, though I'm only using it in 100Mbit mode. The board also includes the Analog Devices AD1985 AC '97 CODEC, with S/PDIF (coaxial digital) output. This is great, as you get full surround sound out of DVDs played on the computer and you can decode it with a home-theater receiver (I'm using the Harman Kardon 325, and the sound is great). Rounding out the extra chips on the board is the VIA 1394 IEEE1394 controller (aka firewire). In total, the back panel has 1 parallel, 1 serial, 1 PS/2 keyboard, 1 PS/2 mouse, 1 S/PDIF (digital audio), 1 analog audio I/O, 1 IEEE1394 (firewire), and 1 RJ45 (LAN). There's additiaonl support for an additional 4 USB 2.0 and 1 IEEE1394 front-case ports. It also includes 2 UltraDMA, 2 serial ATA, 1 IDE, and 1 floppy cable.

The AMI BIOS and installation were quite easy to navigate. In fact, I'd never built a computer before, and between the case's manual and the motherboard's manual, I was able to build everything with almost no other reference material (though I can highly recommend the 14th edition of Scott Mueller's "Upgrading and Repairing PCs" if you want deeper knowledge of machine internals).

I used 4 sticks of Corsair 512MB PC3200 memory (CMX512-3200C2), and it works great. The memory must be installed in pairs of the same type for the DDR DIMM slots on this machine. In my second machine, I used two sticks of Kingmax PC3200 MPXB62D, which also worked just fine.

One other concern I had is the northbridge heatsink. In early photos, it was shown mounted on a diagonal. On my model, it is mounted square to the rest of the board. This is good, because I'm using a giant Zalman heatsink on my Radeon graphics card, and if it were on a diagonal, they might hit one another.

Including WinDVD 4.0 is a very nice touch. The quality of DVD playback through my computer and Radeon 9700 card is fabulous, and the digital-analog decoding for sound is done through the audio-visual receiver.

The P4C800 (non-deluxe) is a stripped down version of this board, though I have not seen it for sale anywhere.

5An Amazing Commercial Grade Panasonic VCR!
By Mr Doug Gordon
Back in 2003, I was in the market for a "less is more" VCR that was solid and built to last. The cost to convert my VHS over to DVD was too time and money consuming. The only feature I was looking for was to have a heavy duty tape transport mechanism & heads that wouldn't damage tapes, cause mechanical issues and have excellent picture quality. The consumer models around this time were fully loaded with a lot of features that I wouldn't use and the quality was getting cheaper, due to the popularity of DVD players. So I found the AG-1350 VCR-(Made In Malaysia) in Panasonic's Professional Products section of their website. There was also a Hi-Fi model shown, but I can't remember the model #. The stereo model was made in China, but double the price of the AG-1350. From the overall reviews I read at the time for the AG-1350, this model was very reliable and a "workhorse" in the world of VHS. I just playback store bought tapes, so this unit was exactly what I was looking for. Found that I didn't use the Hi-Fi playback, due to buzzing and added noise occurring with some tapes, so would end up switching from Hi-Fi to normal anyway. Not having a machine with Hi-Fi sound reproduction was no issue. None of the mainstream or specialty audio/video stores carried this model, since it was mostly used for commercial applications. To my surprise, I found it at a camera and video store. They didn't have the unit on display, but took special orders for it. Back then, it was $330(Cdn) new, plus taxes. Although this VCR isn't Hi-Fi, or have VCR Plus and all the added bells & whistles the consumer models had back then, it's still a great machine with cool features, which include; One Touch Recording, Jet Search, Timer Recording, Jet Navigation, Time Stamping, Indexing & Editing. Most importantly, it will handle your tapes with respect. You just have to lightly push the tape in and it inserts smoothly, then starts playing. Due to the build quality of the outer-cabinet, it's not noisy during playback, with that constant grinding noise, like the consumer VCR models had. The picture quality is top notch and rock solid! There is a feature where you can adjust the picture playback-"Standard" crystal clear, "Dynamic"-gives the picture more contrast and a little added color, "Soft"-takes away some graininess and "Cartoon"-makes colors vibrant for animated features. This unit also has "Jet Rewind", which is the fastest rewind function that I've ever seen or heard on a VCR. It really does sound like a Jet taking off when in operation! Although the manual says it plays & records in SP & EP speeds, it also plays LP tapes excellent. Haven't played S-VHS, since I don't have any tapes recorded in this mode, but this unit has quasi playback for these tapes too. If you are looking for a basic, solidly built VCR that will present your VHS tapes in their best possible picture quality, then this unit is definitely an A1 choice.

5Outstanding kitchen addition!!
By Alan B. Richards
I purchased one of these a couple of years ago. It has provided much more than I could have asked for the price paid.My kitchen is rather small with little work space. I needed a place to knead bread and do other things but also needed it to roll out of the way when not needed. This island turned out to be perfect. It does require a bit of assembly. Took me about 90 minutes. The result was a handsome & functional island in unfinished rubberwood. You can finish it with most stains or wood finishes but I would recommend leaving the countertop unfinished. More sanitary & easier to keep clean. (Yes, handled properly, wood is every bit as sanitary as plastic, stone, or metal. Keep ALL liquids off of it!)It's sturdy enough for hard kitchen use. I have pounded meat on it (on a cutting board) and beat bread dough to death. I have also used it as an impromptu breakfast bar & even rolled it onto the patio to use as a dry bar once. Worked wonderfully. But it really shines as a place to slice. dice, chop & mix. And it's the best bread board I've ever had. (NOTE: DO NOT USE A KNIFE ON THE WOOD!! Put a cutting board down to protect the surface.) It even holds 3 separate, operating machines (bread machine, slow cooker, & my large Kitchen-Aid stand mixer)& still leaves a good working area. The back leaf folds down & reduces the storage space when you need to roll it out of the way.The only shortcomings (and they are minor) is the depth of the storage. The cabinets are not deep enough to store large pans. You can get two 1 gal. water/milk jugs back to back & that's about it. Also the drawers are too short & too shallow to store long items like ladles, cooking spoons, & butcher knives. A silverware tray won't fit. Also when assembling, stagger the 2 lockable wheels on opposite corners. Otherwise the island will pivot when pushed. If you need working space for a small kitchen & don't want spend big bucks, this is the island to buy. After seeing mine & how I use it, several friends bought one too.

5Pretty good overall.
By Matthew McKinney
We recieved this item shortly after we ordered it. Unfortunately two pieces were damaged during shipment and had to contact the company to have replacement pieces sent. They were shipped quickly and without hassle. Assembly went fairly smoothly and we ended up with a pretty decent cart/island with good storage space. It looks good in our kitchen and doesn't look flimsy or cheap. We feel like we got a good deal for the money.

4worth the wait
By Granny
I am not an impulsive shopper, & saved this in my wish list for about a year while I looked for similar carts that I might like better. This was the winner, & I finally took the plunge & ordered it. I have an old house, & the kitchen has very limited workspace, so this cart was badly needed. It arrived within about a week, no damage, & assembly was fast. Directions were accurate & clear, & there were extras on each piece of hardware. No nasty surprises anywhere. The cart is very attractive, holds my small appliances & gadgets, & with the breakfast bar up provides a large workspace. I am very pleased with this purchase, & there are only 2 reasons I did not give it a 5 star rating. 1) While it is all wood, no particle board or worse, the top is made of pieces of solid wood instead of full length boards. They are put together pretty well, but the joints are visible. And 2) the tool caddy is primarily a knife rack, which I don't need. I may use the router to enlarge the space to hold other kitchen tools, or I may just remove the top. All in all, a really nice product.

4Well designed, very compact - could use more memory ..
By A Customer
I bought this for recording night school classes while asleep - it is very well designed - has a bigger display than the more expensive SONY MS515. This unit is very-very light weight - therefore, it is very unobtrusive in your shirt pocket. The MIC can be rotated depending where the unit willbe when in use - I used it in my shirt pocket with the MIC rotated forward. The ERGONOMICS are excellent - you can turn it on, pause & off by feel by the ergonomic buttons - IE I never take it out in class. In long play mode the sound was adequate - far better than my olympus L400 microcassette recorder ( which used to be the benchmark in smallness & long play )The volume is excellent on playback - quite loud for such a small device. The SONY audio editing & management software for the PC is excllent, the USB interface download multihour recordings in seconds. HERE are the numbers: STEREO record: 41 mins; STANDARD HIGH RES RECORD:125mins; LONG PLAY RECORD: 334mins. If you sit between the middle to the front of an auditorium, the LP MODE is absolutely fine. You wont find a better recorder in this price range in my opinion. I almost bought the little olympus DW-90 ( 90 min )- but my classes are almost two hours long - plus this has better sound quality with the novel SONY CODEC. I RATED IT 4 STARS BECAUSE FOR MY USES - IT COULD USE MORE MEMORY & AN EXTERNAL MIC INPUT

4Works for capturing lectures
By A Customer
I bought the ICD-ST10 strictly for recording university lectures. So far it has worked out great. The sound quality is very good and I can always upload the recordings onto the computer and transcribe them while listening to the lecture again (and again) through computer speakers. I wouldn't recommend doing it directly from the recorder. Speakers provide a lot better sound quality. Ability to slow down the playback definitely helps (if you can deal with the hypnotic effect of a geology lecture being played back at half speed. You are getting sleepy... Very sleepy...)I am able to fit only one lecture (1.5 hours) before I have to transfer the file onto the computer (I record in SP mode).More memory & a power cord (has a power plug but cord is not provided with the recorder) would definitely make this a 5 star product.Con: There is no OFF button on the recorder and in the month I've owned it, it has turned itself on during the worst moments (like taking an exam in a hushed lecture hall).

4My voice ==> typed text!!
By Gerald Baron
I bought this unit refurbished for about $75. It did exactly what I wanted it to do. I can now dictate into the unit, then hook it up via usb to my computer and have Dragon Naturally Speaking Version7 Professional turn my voice into typed text.

A word of caution about Dragon Naturally speaking; it takes about 10 hours over two weeks to get productive with high accuracy in Dragon. I read books, went to talks, and took training for Dragon. Dragon Naturallyspeaking dosn't work right out of the box -- you and Dragon need training to get along. I found the Dragon training cd's from Say I Can very helpful.

Once you've mastered the Dragon, you will only need to touch the keyboard and mouse a few times a day while using your computer -- you'll be moving around and typing into most applications with your voice. I'm using Dragon with various versions of Windows, not sure how it works on the Mac.
