The Little Fan That Could

I was looking for an average fan with directional ability. Boy, was I surprised when this baby arrived! For its size and price, I could not ask for a better fan. If you want a general stream of moving air, this is NOT the fan for you. This product if for those of us who want and need POWER!

Definitely moves air

Compact and moves serious air. Low noise. Very directional air flow, great for venting a room quickly. The cord is massive and good length, almost half the weight of the unit. So you can run 2 power tools off the 2, 3 prong outlets on the main unit, assuming the wall outlet can take the power drain without tripping a fuse.Nice large handle.

Gets The Cigar Smoke Out!!!

Okay, your wife says you can have one room to smoke cigars, but the smoke better get exhausted, because she doesn't want the "fragrance" to permeate the rest of the castle. You try an open window...phew, doesn't work; then an air purifier; no where near enough clean air. So you call an air exchange specialist who gives you a dollar estimate that you think could buy you a Palm Springs condo. Hmm, what to do, what to do....Get yourself an Air King 9550. This little powerhouse, on full blast, will exhaust 2181 cubic feet of air a minute, with enough force, that you don't have to worry about cold air intrusion. A room full of cigars and a lively poker game may take two 9550s, but by morning the smoke is gone. Turn the fan around for half an hour and all traces of cigar aroma are vanished as the 9550 pulls in fresh air. I tried professional model ozone generating air purifiers that cost hundreds of dollars and my cigar den remained odorous, but one 9550 did an incredible job. I bought two, thinking that one might not do the job, but the second one is now my emergency and poker night back-up.

Works great

I got it used for about $50. It looked used, but nothing broken, and worked as soon as I plugged my Presario 2100 AMD, which has a bad power input on the motherboard. The main reason I got this was because of the bad power input. With XP SP2, it did not recognize the USB hub on the device, so I had to upgrade to SP3. The device covers all the ports on the back of my laptop, so I only have 3 usable USB ports which are on the port replicator. The literature of the device makes it sound like this upgrades your USB to 2.0 via the port replicator interface, but it's merely a generic hub that's 2.0 compatible. But, my laptop charges fine, doesn't loose power because of the loose power input on the motherboard, and that's all I wanted.

pretty darn good!

I needed a 5 bicycle rack that could handle all our family bikes, including our 3 children's (5, 7 and 10 yrs. old) for our yearly vacation. This one seemed to be pretty versatile, not requiring additional bars for most bikes.While it took some work to make all bikes fit just right (especially the little ones), we made the 4 hour trip to the mountains just fine; no excessive movement (though it does sway a little), no damage to the bicycles (I used pipe insulating foam tube pieces in a couple of spots where bikes rubbed each other) and an overall uneventful trip, even on some not-so-smooth roads. Getting the kids' bikes on was kinda tricky (the littlest one had to travel upside down!) but it worked out fine--I don't think it would have been so with some of the other 2-bar models.However, if I had to load all 5 bikes on a regular basis I'd probably be looking for a different option. Also, something this rack (and most others too) could use is some kind of reflective finish on the end of the tube... can never be too safe!

Love the bike rack. We went over 600 miles one way through NY City and was no problem for the bike rack. Never had one problem the whole trip. After loading and unloading a few times you start to get the hnag of it. Only thing is, if you have a bike with an oversized frame, mountain bike, kids bikes, you will have to go puchase an add on bar for each bike. They attach from handle bar to under seat and then you raise the seat as high as it can go. Once these add on bars were purchased it was a cinch. But we were dead in the water, until we purchased those. The cradles only fit the regular size tubing or slightly larger of bike frame. Loved it though. Thanks Swagman

How could it be improved? It can't

I have owned 2 bike racks. One was not worth anything, the other was difficult to use. This is the perfect rack.1) Five bikes, few others do this.2) The cradles are adjustable on angle with initial setup. This is the definitive factor! If you've never used a rack try to put bikes of different size and style if you don't have this feature. Just try...3) The cradles are well designed, padded great, and can accommodate a large range of frame.4) It folds down which is huge if you use a locking pin.This is one of the best designed products I have used in a long time.

Good, but could be better.

Swagman's claim on this rack is that it:"provides the ultimate in flexibility to accommodate a variety of bike frame designs"So I figured I'd spend a little extra $$ on the rack and avoid buying a bunch of crossbars. Unfortunately, the rotating cradles are so big that quite a few bikes (including my GT XCR) start having trouble fitting into them without quite a bit of twisting and pushing, on top of that pretty much render crossbars useless.It is a good rack but I'd recommend getting the non-rotating cradles if you really want more flexibility in the bikes it can accommodate.

VERY SOLID CONSTRUCTION, BUT VERY HEAVY TO LIFT.

We've used this for many road trips across the country. Works great. It also leans away from the vehicle (Toyota Rav4) about 2.5 feet, which allows us to still be able to access the back of the vehicle thru the rear door. HOWEVER, THIS DEVICE IS VERY HEAVY. My wife has trouble getting it on the hitch by herself; she's done it, but only when she had to because I wasn't around; and she certainly doesn't like to do it. Even for me, this is a heavy piece of equipment. Not sure the weight, but you may want to look it up before you buy - it's that heavy!That said, this is a very quality piece of equipment. We are VERY HAPPY with how it has held up over the last four years. Very solid. Very durable. Very secure. We love it.

Tiny cradles

The cradles are absolutely terrible, holding only the tiniest of bicycle frames. We had five bikes in our household, and the rack cradles would not fit a single bike. We tried two mountain bikes, a 5-year-old's bike, and a 7-year-old's bike. If you buy this to hold four bikes, be ready to buy four crossbars to make them actually work with this rack.

Even better with a 1/2 chuck

Out of necessity and because it has ample power, I had been planning to convert this drill to a 1/2" chuck for some time, but just recently got around to it.Since the DW960 comes with a 3/8" capacity chuck, I assumed that it would be mounted on a 3/8" X 24 TPI spindle as most 3/8" drills are.Before buying a 1/2" chuck with a reduced 3/8" X 24 TPI mount, I decided to remove the original chuck and check the spindle to be sure.With the chuck removed, I found that the DW960 has a 1/2" X 20 TPI spindle, which is the standard spindle size for mounting a 1/2" chuck.I wouldn't bother changing out the chuck on my older model DW966 14.4V right angle drill because it doesn't really have enough power to make it worth the expense, but I decided to check the spindle size on it anyway. It too has the 1/2" X 20 TPI spindle.Dewalt most likely does this to give the short spindles more strength, not to allow for an upgrade to a 1/2" chuck. Nevertheless, I really need this drill to be a 1/2", so I purchased a Jacobs made Dewalt OEM style keyless chuck from McMaster and installed it on the drill. It fit perfectly, actually better than the original did, and for my work needs, the extra chuck capacity makes all the difference.I would never attempt to use this right angle drill as hard as my straight 1/2" cordless drill, but when working in a tight space, it's great to finally be able to use the DW960 with my Greenlee hole saws larger than 7/8", which have 7/16" shanks. This was the main reason for wanting to ditch the standard 3/8" chuck.I've used it with hole saws up to 3-1/2" in 1X and 2-1/2" in 2X material. This seems to be completely within the drills ability without producing any unusual motor strain or heating. Understandably, I'm sure Dewalt would not approve of this modification and if the motor or gear train does eventually end up as toast, I'm okay with the fact that it will be my fault, not Dewalt's.With that being said, it now appears that I can finally stop waiting for Dewalt to produce an 18V cordless 1/2" right angle drill.

Small package - great power

For years I have struggled to get my full-size cordless drill into tight spots. I have tried everything from flexible-shaft-bit-holders to crazy angles when I drill. Finally a solution -- and one that works interchangeably with my other 18 volt tools. The first task I put this to was drilling holes for 3 inch PVC drain lines in 50 year old southern pine floor joists. Using firm but gentle pressure, I was through the joist in no time. After a dozen or so holes, the tool was running hot, but had plenty more power to keep running. I then employed it replacing some drawer guides in a cabinet and it worked like a charm on the low speed setting.

Overall, another great product from DeWalt. I continue to wonder what takes them so long!

PROS: Great power; interchanges with DeWalt 18v system; easy to hold; comfortable to operate; plenty of power for carpentry

CONS: forward/reverse switch is very small (or my fingers are fat); no adjustable torque (really not needed for most applications)

Another Must Have Tool

You probably won't use this tool on every job, but when your Hole Hawg is too clumsy to fit in a tight spot or you just don't need all that firepower, this "little" RAD is a godsend. Like another tool reviewer did, I too replaced the 3/8 chuck with a 1/2" keyless chuck which makes the tool more usable. It was the most difficult chuck I had ever removed from a tool. It was torqued and loctited on very well, almost too well. I have not experienced any of the problems other reviewers had, but unfortunately there are lemons and DOA's with most anything you buy today. I feel the tool is well made and serves it's intended function very well. If you buy this elsewhere like Home Depot, be aware that they sell the kit with only 1 battery for $199.00 not the 2 batteries that come with the kit sold on Amazon.com. The designation is DW960K-2 for the 2 battery kit and DW960K for the single battery version. Both kits include the same drill, kit box and charger.

Concrete Saw

Received saw on day promised. Packaging was damaged but the saw was OK. After reading instruction and doing minor assembly including putting in oil and gas I try starting the Robin's engine. It took several pulls to get the engines started. Being "NEW" I expected initial start up to be more difficult. Once the unit started and warmed up I could stop and restart the engine with one pull. However, when I used the saw for the first time several days later the engine did not want to start. After pulling for 25 times or more, it started. Something tells me that he choke is not working properly. Next time out I will call customer service if I have the same starting problems. I have to say that the saw operated and did a great job once it started. Easy to use and the cuts looked great in the 24ft. X 36ft. garage.
