4A useful tool
By I.R. Cajun
I bougth this meter to be able to determin if a coat of water based has dried. If works well and will pay for itself after the first use. How? Just calculate how much it will cost to redo the job if the second coat fails becaused you topped the first coat before it had properly dried.

3A bit if a pain.
By Chad Voller
I bought this to process the ingredients for salsa and other recipes. It did the job, but opening up and unloading is surprisingly a lengthier process than one might imagine. Because of the safety features of its design, you must remove the whole unit from your Bosch before you can take the top off. And because some types if veggies like to get caught under the lid instead of get processed, which leads to a mess when the top is removed. Other than the torque you get from the Bosch to power through anything, I couldn't recommend this over a food processor that costs $50 and doesn't trap food under the top. A huge disappointment from Bosch's otherwise fine engineering. I'm wondering how this could have made it past their quality controls and testing when this product was designed.Don't buy unless you got money to blow.

4BEST food processor I've ever owned
By S. Talbert
I've only owned a few low-end food processors before, so this is a major step-up for my kitchen. I love that it harnesses the power of my Bosch Universal and makes it a true multi-function machine and workhorse.I've made creamy-smooth hummus, chopped chickpeas for falafel, and will make salsa with it tomorrow - why dice by hand for something like salsa when I'm going to cook it down in the end anyhow? The only reason I've given it 4 stars and not 5 is that the first time I washed it, I noticed two little rust spots on the regular blade. I need to call Bosch about that and see what to expect - I don't expect a food-processor blade to rust after its first use. I have no doubt that Bosch will make it right, but it was slightly disappointing to find it on the blade to begin with.EDITED: 11.21.12The rust spots are now completely gone. I have no idea what happened to them or what made them go away (they weren't on a blade's edge), but they are gone now. So 'yay!' but it's also vaguely weird. I'm not complaining, I've just never had rust spots disappear before. ;)

5Clarification on Woodworker's Review
By rockrbob
The specs of the MP700 indicate it does NOT have a FAX so it can't "Fax well." Just wanted potential buyers to know. If you need a fax, get the MP730, but the scanner size is limited to letter size.

2Good printer but.....................
By Bruce Mckenzie
Having used my MP700 for approx 6 months the print quality of photos suddenly deteriorated, leaving colours jaded and lacking in vibrancy. Not suspecting my (almost) new printer I replaced my Olympus digital camera with a top of the range Fuji. No difference. I then spent the next 7 months playing around with different settings and different types of photo paper, to no avail. I then replaced my entire PC, still not thinking the printer could be the problem. When this also failed to improve matters it started to occur to me that it must be the printer, but what? I had always used genuine Canon ink carts, I was using top quality glossy photo paper, then it was suggested that the print head may have failed. I purchased a new one at a cost of £70 ($130) as by now the printer was one month out of warranty. Problem solved, well, for 4 months anyway, as the problem is now back, big and bad as ever. Canon have refused to accept any responsibility, simply referring me to their dealer who tells me there is only 3 months warranty on these heads, so I have to buy yet another one. So if you are considering buying one of these otherwise excellent printers be prepared to spend £70 on a new print head every 100 or so sheets!

2Printhead failures common?
By K. Esaia
I've had this printer for over a year now and for the past 6 months, the print quality has been terrible. This month, it won't print at all and I've been told I need to buy a new printhead which will cost at least $70. I've tried cleaning the printhead, doing any possible maintenance I could and none of this helped. I have always used Canon ink cartridges and never abuse this printer. Reading the last review makes me wonder if it will be worth it to replace the printhead or just invest in a new printer. I've never had a printhead problem with any other printer I've owned (at least 3 others over a span of several years).

5The Greatest CD Player Ever
By A Customer
The SL-CT800 is an amazing CD player. Not only is it thin and attractive, but it also has an amzong battery life: up to 120 hrs (unheard of typically for MP3 CD Players). It works very well. The only problem I've had with it is that, unlike iRiver's SlimX 400, the LCD doesn't show international characters (i.e., letters from other languages, like the French "é" or the Spanish "ñ", or Russian Cyrillic, etc.). That's not a major problem though, and does not lessen the overall prestige of this amazing device. A definite A+++!

5Ultra-cool, ultra-thin, ultra-excellent quality
By A Customer
A couple months ago I bought an iRiver CD/MP3 player but it broke after a couple days, and the second unit I got exchanged for also broke, after less then a week. I did some research on the web and found out iRiver's quality is very poor. So I returned it and bought the SL-CT800 for about twenty bucks less. This is my first Panasonic portable CD player, and I'm greatly pleased.

Not only is the Panasonic much better quality than the iRiver -- it feels solid and gives you a sense of confidence -- it's also quieter and slimmer. The remote control is great, and the illuminated keys on the side of the player are fun and actually give you indications of various things. The player also shows ID3 tags for MP3 files (but not for WMA files). I read English only so I don't know if it shows international characters or not. For my purposes, it plays MP3 and WMA files with total cool so this is excellente, period. Of course, it's also a great CD player, in case you were wondering, heehee.

The player itself takes 2 special Ni-Cd batteries and you charge by plugging in the included AC adapter (which is also cool). It also comes with a case that holds 2 AA batteries and you can attach the case to the adapter port. Panasonic claims "up to 120 hours" total on the combination of Ni-Cd and alkaline batteries. For my purposes, the Ni-Cd gives more than enough juice to last through a whole day of listening. My friend who has another Panasonic says their CD players are power stingy, so I feel good about the whole thing.

If you are thinking a Sony, it's good, too, and they give you a case, but buck for buck Sony's have less features than Panasonic. The SL-CT800 should service me for a long long time.

3It has an " Achilles Heel", the weak rechargeable battery!
By A Customer
Everything was working great initially. But two weeks later, the CD player is dead!I tried it for a long while and finally decided that the rechargeable battery went bad since CD player still works on AC!Why the battery died so fast? I remembered that we put it on charger for a whole night a few days ago! And this baby is so vulnerable to a very common human habit. Look! lots of people put cellphone on AC charger overnight and that doesn't kill their cellphones.

And the manual does say "battery may go flat if AC adaptor is kept on after battery is finished charging" and the battery is only in warranty for 10 DAYS!And I searched lots of places even on www.panasonic.com, can't find any replacement of this new and special Ni-Mh type(Why not Ni-Cd?) battery.

It basically useless without its rechargeable battery.Really disappointed!

5Who Need's Bose???
By P. G. Keller
I recently upgraded my system with a new receiver and needed some new speakers to complement them. I wanted the Bose Acoustimass speakers forever but couldn't bear dropping a G on them. I also wanted to stay in the "bookshelf" size speaker as it suited my set up better. So I decided to try these for less than half the price of the Bose. I figured I could return them if they didn't thrill me. Short story....they did.I was floored by the fullness of the sound. They hit the highs, mids, and lows like a champ. I like to use the action bits on Terminator 3 to test out new recievers and speakers and these really impressed me with a huge wall of sound. I knew they were good when I got excited while watching a movie I'd seen so many times before. It was almost like listening to it for the first time. I also popped in some cd's and I swear I heard things in some of my music that I've never heard before.I'd heard those Bose speakers a dozen times at Comp USA and Best Buy and really do feel these are better for a full sound. The Bose do the highs an mids really well but not the lows. These are designed to be the total package with their horn/tweeter design and they certainly perform as such. They can actually be used without a subwoofer, which is good for people who don't like the booming and rumbling that subs provide. Klipsch suggest their own subs(of course) but I felt the price was a little rich for my blood, so I use a $100 Sony powered sub and it works just fine. They look and feel like they're made from good quality materials. In fact, I accidently dropped one from 2 1/2 feet onto a wooden floor (oops) and it was completely intact without any marks and still works perfectly. The posts on the back of the speakers make speaker wire attachment a snap. You just unscrew the cap, the wire goes through the middle of the post, then you tighten the cap back down. No problemo. A great feature. They also make placement and mounting easy as you can sit them on a shelf, like in the picture, or flip the stand part back to mount on a wall. They also pivot to point in most any angle you'd want. The center speaker doesn't though. There are only a couple of slight negatives here. The center speaker sounds a little boxey. It could use some more treble as it leans a little more towards the mid range. Since the majority of dialog comes from the center speaker, I wanted a little more sharpness. This is minor though and doesn't hinder the experience at all. The other is the balancing. Pairing them with my new reciever to find the best sound was a bit tricky. Again, these are very slight negatives and shouldn't deter you from looking into these fabulous speakers. I'm just trying to be as honest as I can here. I never once thought of returning them though.Klipsch has a great reputation in the audio world and touts these as their best selling compact speaker system. These are a great deal for the price as they sound huge and like they should cost alot more. If you're starting to get serious about your audio for your home theater, there's nothing else out there that's gonna top these at their size and price. Believe me, I looked.

5Better than Bose for less
By William Freitag
Recently was over a friend's house and noticed that he had a Bose system and was impressed with the sound. I had a Sony HTIB set up that I was not too crazy about but had to compromise because my wife is particular on how things look and will compromise perfomance. I decided to upgrade my system, but I wanted to do this without spending Bose money. I went with a Yamaha RX-V663 receiver and paired it with the Klipsch speakers. The results were beyond my expectations. The clarity of the sound was outstanding. The lows really come thru these speakers well. My wife's jaw dropped when she heard the results. I recommend people to do the research and check out these speakers. Most people see the name "Bose" and buy into the name because of there exposure on TV and magazine adds. I believe I have better sound than a bose system for a fraction of the cost.

4Quintet III
By J. Bennett
I bought this from Ebay brand new for only about 359.00 dollars. What's nice is that even at a low volume you can hear a full range of sound. High end sound for a low end price. I'm sure if you have a very large living room you can stick all four speakers in the rear for 7.1 and buy a pair of large floor Klipsch speakers for the Front Right and Left. Perhaps a larger center channel if you're more than 10-15 feet from your screen. For my apartment living room these are perfect though. As I run on I should also mention that the built wall mounts are awesome! You can tilt the rear speakers inward if your couch is against the wall.

5The Best DVD/HDD Recorder Yet...
By Alexander Dukas
First of all, kudos must go to Panasonic for insisting on sticking to the far superior DVD-RAM technology for re-recordable discs since the discs physical surfaces are fully protected and the data is apparently better organized.

I have to say that I absolutely love this device!

Record to HDD, then burn what you want to keep to DVD-R or the far superior DVD-RAM, and finally erase what programs you don't need.

The only limitation is that the DVD-RAM's will only play back on Panasonic DVD players, however, the DVD-R recordings in my experience will play on all modern DVD Players.

The remote control has been fully perfected as opposed to the one they had for this model's 40 GB predecessor which was a horror show.

I liked the look and design of the earlier 40 GB unit a little better and it also had a few more plug in ports for memory sticks and the like, but this one is far more functional in terms of button location, ease of use, and the remote control.

Realistically, you have to use SP or XP speed for best visual clarity so the 106 hours of storage it claims to record at EP speed is not something you'd really be using.

However, with the HDD to DVD-R or DVD-RAM transfer capability (It does this at higher-speed rather then playback speed) you can record, transfer, and wipe.

The next model should have more drive space but this will do nicely for most of us for now.

I will never record to VHS EVER again!

5great recorder; correction to specs
By Colin Gould
This is a great recorder, the HD space of a Tivo (but no channel guide, bummer), together with the DVD-R/RAM disk read/write capability of the panasonic recorders- a perfect match.

Correction for the posted specs:the E80H model (w/ hard drive) does NOT have a digital Firewire input, and does NOT have coax digital audio out (optical only.)The E60S (no hard drive) and the older HS2 model (smaller harddrive, more $$) have firewire input.

This player does play MP3s, and will actually also play DVD-Audio disks (but I think only in stereo , not 6channel sound.)

5Toshiba sd-h400 vs. Panasonic dmr-e80h
By J. Hardy IV
This is a dual review, for the Panasonic DVD-R Recorder DMR-E80H and the Toshiba sd-h400. Hopefully it can help those deciding between the two. I had done the research and was on my way to collect the Panasonic when the video store I had called told me they were just unloading the new Toshibas. It was a hundred plus less than the Panasonic and included TIVO. My fiscal side took over and I figured I'd give it whirl. I have an extended digital cable box and the Sony KP57WV700 57" HDTV that I was going to interface this with, pretty straightforward system.

Here is the simple layout of what I wanted to do: 1. cable in to digital cable box, out via component cables [red, green, blue] to HDTV [this produces the best signal and HD channel output on the TV]. 2. cable in to Toshiba/Panasonic for recording basic cable Ch. 1-98. 3. Video [composite?] out from digital cable box to Toshiba/Panasonic to record HDTV or whatever channel is on, on the digital cable box.

First off neither the Toshiba or Panasonic boxes has component in, so they couldn't receive the best signal from the component out on the digital cable box.

The Toshiba touts and comes with Tivo basic, which gets you 3 days advance programming via their guide, chasing playback, etc. This was the first experience I had had with a Tivo product. The setup for the Toshiba took a long time [multiple phone calls and data manipulation], and compounding things it was required that a phone line be utilised for the connection. A bad thing if you don't have a jack around, so I had to string one across hallways in ungainly fashion. Not good. I should say, you can buy a wireless USB adapter if you want, or a USB Ethernet connector to get your updates if you want.

Second hit against the Toshiba/Tivo, and this is what bothered me the most: they do not allow recording / timer recording from a second video input source unless you upgrade to the Tivo Plus service. This bit of info is nestled in the middle of the manual during extended setup. So for my set up which had cable signal in via RF and composite video in from the digital cable box, it meant I couldn't record as line in from the digital cable box.

Finally, the recording quality of the Toshiba ranged between three levels, taking their appropriate chunk of the HD. The Panasonic offered more flexibility here with more levels and their times. Tivo also is constantly writing to the HD to maintain their `manipulate live tv' functionality.

The DVD playback output between the two was comparable, you can choose between progressive and interlaced if you have a TV that supports it.

So I took the Toshiba back and got the Panasonic which I should have done I the first place. It has a much more professional finish, there are no fourth grader designed graphics/buttons on it like the Tivo. The Panasonic allowed me to hook up three more video inputs and record against them and do timer recordings on them. Bingo. The picture quality is very close to source using the second to top recording mode which gets you 36 hours of record time, 104 for EP, 74 for the next, and 18 for the top of the line. The Panasonic also has the time slip functions that let you watch a prior recorded item from the HD if you're currently recording, and it lets you watch the beginning of a recorded item *while* it's recording. Nice if you show up for the program 10 mins. late. It also records to DVD-RAM and DVD-R if you want to dub your VHS tapes or something you watch on broadcast TV, but that's a secondary feature to me so I didn't get too into it.

And so, for my setup, the Panasonic was the superior choice I should have exercised the first go around. Be alert to the limitations of the Toshiba if interested in it. I'm definitely enjoying the functions and features of the new Panasonic and can recommend it highly.

5Fantastic puzzle!
By J. Foster
This is my daughter's fourth Infantino puzzle. She received "Where's my Tail?" and "Peek-a-Boo" puzzles for Christmas at 16 months old. They were a hit. We played them until I was sick of them. Around 19 months old, she got the "Colors and Shapes" puzzle, which she loved even more. She was already on her way to mastering her shapes, and that puzzle made her LOVE shapes. Now at 22 months, she's pretty well mastered the Alphabet Train puzzle. I gave this to her about 3 weeks ago when she was recognizing all of her letters. I thought this puzzle would help reinforce the order of the letters, and it did. Tonight, she did the entire thing with very little coaching as to what letter comes next. A few great things about this puzzle -- it has both uppper and lower case letters, the corresponding pictures are clear and are of things your child actually recognizes, and the puzzle pieces do not fit together well if the child puts them in the wrong order. If your child is recognizing his or her letters, get this puzzle. It may be a little pricey, but I don't think you'll be sorry. It is fantastic.

4Great puzzle
By Reader from Austin
My daughter loves this puzzle! I would say if your kid is smart, he or she will be able to piece it together without help before they are 2 1/2 yrs old. I love it because it occupies her for about 15 minutes while I make dinner or do something else. The box has a diagram of the the train, so the kid can look at it to figure out what comes next. No matter how smart your kid is though, the puzzle is not pee-proof. I have to buy another one since the "accident". Highly recommended for puzzle-loving kids.
