4Good Value in a Smaller Guitar
By M. J. Keyes
One of the other reviewers complained that their guitar teacher called this a "1/4 sized guitar" and it appeared that they felt they had gotten a bad deal. No, it is a 3/4 sized guitar - this is based on scale length and not overall size of the guitar - but it is small. This guitar has a 21 1/4" scale (normal is about 26" but it varies), a 12 1/2" lower bout and a 9" upper bout. This places it in the parlor size category, more or less, and it fits a child well. This is a fully functioning guitar with a solid spruce top, decent craftsmanship, and an adjustable truss rod. The action is acceptable (although it needs setup at the nut) and the tone is, well, there. You are never going to confuse the Yamaha FG JR1 for a $3000 Taylor. It is a $120 guitar. The main virtues are its size, playability, and price. For that $120 you get a well made, well designed small guitar suitable for all ages with enough tone and volume to hold its own in a small group. You can take it aboard any plane and place it in the overhead rack. If you are sitting around the campfire and have to fight off a bear with it, you are only out $120 and it is sturdy enough to tolerate at least one swing. The adjustable truss rod lets you change the relief of the neck in all sorts of conditions (assuming you are brave enough to do so) and a little filing on the nut by your luthier (don't try this at home unless you have some experience) will make it very playable for both finger style and pick.So it is not the top of the line, it works well for what it was intended to be. It sure beats the heck out of the so-called travel guitars which all sound like they are made from cardboard and look like the set designer of Avatar or LOTR produced them for orcs. If you are looking for a quality small guitar but are too cheap to pay for one, give the Yamaha FG JR1 a look.

5Great guitar
By J. Smith
I purchased this guitar for my young sons taking lessons but this guitar is just as playable for an adult as for a child. Their guitar teacher was very impressed by the sound and construction of the guitar and the kit bag was actually a pretty good little bag.

5This keyboard is awesome!!
By putergirl
I first saw this item on that home shopping channel and the lady that was displaying it was as giddy as a school girl. I have to admit it did look really fun. My mom always wanted to learn to play the piano and I wanted to buy it a couple of years ago, but it was a bit expensive. We were recently out Christmas shopping and I dragged her over to it and said you HAVE to try this (she thought I was crazy since she can't play)....she CRIED! She was so happy that she could actually play (greensleeves) that she cried and giggled. I had to tell her six times that we needed to go. She wouldn't let go! So, obviously this will be her Christmas present this year. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for any music enthusiast.

    3Shoddy manufacturing
    By D. Carraway
First off, the short version: if you're not comfortable enough with tools to fix what's wrong with this toy, don't buy it. That, or check the packaging and product carefully -- if it claims a 2007 manufacture date and says it was made in China, or if on inspection you see anything wrong, pack it back up and return it as defective. At least some versiosn of this thing are at best poorly made and fragile, and at worst dangerous.I'm not going to address the fun or educational aspects of this toy, just the manufacturing issues some have reported. Bought one for my daughter in September 2009. It arrived in a box prominently labeled "Made in China" and with a claimed manufacture date in 2007. Whatever factory in China accepted Anatex's outsourcing contract hasn't yet mastered quality control, because there were quite a number of manufacturing defects:Imprecise assembly: fasteners and brackets are not accurately placed, causing parts to be loose or misaligned. This is most evident on the bead maze on the top and the "abacus" sliding-bead panel on the side, which is mounted on four stand-off brackets. Mount those brackets in the wrong places and the screws used to attach the panel either won't reach or will be under enough strain they'll pull out (it's very soft pine, and screw threads easily pull loose.) Up on the bead maze, some of the wire ends are mounted crooked, resulting in the wires actually touching or just passing so close to one another that the beads can't pass by.Mismatched, incorrect parts choices: speaking of that panel, one of the screws used to mount it was the incorrect size, and had not only pulled loose but was loose in the box when I unpacked it; it doesn't match any of the others used with identical mountings, nor does it match any other screw found on the entire unit. There's no excuse for that one short of basic incompetence combined with inadequate or nonexistent quality control.Incorrect gluing: Once again with the abacus panel -- it's held together with glue. Nothing wrong with that if it's done right, but it wasn't -- see, to make a good glue joint you need clean surfaces, a lot of contact area and a proper amount of glue inbetween, plus a good pressure fit while the glue dries. Well, the surfaces were clean and the joint more or less correctly designed, but the glue was _missing_. What was holding it together? A dab of red paint around the corner. Splendid. Paint ain't adhesive, guys, and the whole point of a glue joint is you put some actual _glue_ in there somewhere. As it was, two of the four joints had popped open, causing the rods to dislodge from their sockets and scarring the surface. Those beads are small enough to be a choking hazard if they get loose, so having those glue joints work is important.Inadequate torque: Ah, the gift that keeps on giving. About a third of the screws and other fasteners in the unit were loose because they hadn't been torqued down hard enough. Another third had stripped the threads out of the soft wood, because they'd been torqued too hard. The remaining third were in a magical inbetween state which might even have been correct torque -- but I suspect it's just coincidence. As I mentioned, this is soft wood, and proper torque matters. (n.b. for nonmechanical types: "torque" roughly means "how hard you twist the screws.")What else was wrong? Well, there were plenty of inexplicable gouges, scrapes and dings on the surface, even though it was properly packed and nothing in the box had a chance to impact the surface. Plenty of people have commented on that -- it means the factory in China that produced them was working too fast and/or wasn't well tooled for the job, so parts were being thrown around. So, should you buy this toy? Well, chances are your kid(s) will love it. So if you want one, fine, but be prepared to inspect it very thoroughly when it comes out of the box. Test every screw to ensure it's snug and not loose or stripped. Pop the little plastic caps off the axles on the gear side and check that the locking washers are tight. Check the glue joints and be prepared to spend a little time gluing and clamping. Check both ends of every wire in the bead maze to ensure they're firmly stuck in their mounting holes. Go over all the many dings, gouges and scrapes and smooth out the splintered bits. Find any screws that don't look like they match their companions, gently unscrew them and if they're too short or too fine-pitched in the threads, replace them. While you're at it, attach something heavy to the lower edges on the inside, because it's top-heavy and will tip over the first time your child tries to use it to stand up. Think of it like a toy for both you and your child -- you get a fun evening in the garage fixing everything Anatex's manufacturer did wrong, while showering curses on the consumer-hostile side effects of globalized manufacturing. Then when you're done, your child gets a fun thing to play with.

5Great Toy - Well Made in the USA - June 2012
    By N M
It seems that its been a while since a review of this toy has been written that has been deemed helpful by the Amazon.com community. Hopefully this review will help out future buyers.I purchased this cube in June of 2012 from Amazon.com. The cube was delivered via Amazon Prime via FedEx 2-Day service. The cardboard box arrived in very good shape. On the outside of the box there was a sticker that had a picture of the cube on it, and it stated that the cube was made with non-toxic paints and Made in the USA.Assembly was easy. The box is in essence two parts (the top and sides), with the screws holding the two main peaces together. As others have noted in their reviews there was one packing flaw - a single screw was missing. I had a screw that worked just fine in my toolbox and I was able to get my 15-month old playing with the toy in no time. The cube seems very well made and robust - there has already been some heavy tugging on the wires on the top with no wear and tear on the wires or the cube itself. The toy can keep my child going for 30 minutes or so, which can seem like a pleasant eternity. To make a long story short - I'd purchase this toy again and would highly recommend it to anyone with a child they'd like to keep entertained.

5Made in USA, no more stickers, it's been improved
    By CA or Bust
Just got mine on December 28, 2007. Don't know if previous versions were made in China, but mine has "Made in USA" written on the packaging as opposed to the versions received by other reviewers. Further, mine has ink (nontoxic as stated on the box) on the gears rather than stickers as has been used on previous iterations. I tried scraping the ink off, but it seems pretty durable. This is a great activity cube. Maybe Anatex got the message and made improvements on past complaints. If this is the case, kudos to them! Needs a good cleaning to get the dust off, but this is par for a toy implementing wood. Amazon Prime rocks - overnight shipping for this big toy was only $3.00!

    Low Cost Robert Vavra's Majestad

Robert Vavra's MajestadBuy Robert Vavra's Majestad

    Robert Vavra's Majestad Product Description:

    • A Traditional¿ size model in 1/9 scale.

    Product Description

Robert Vavra didnt set out to be the best-known equine photographer in the world. But today he is, and one of his subjects, the incomparable Andalusian stallion Majestad, is almost as famous as Vavra himself. Vavras first literary publication were the photographs he took for James Micheners Iberia. Bolstered by that success, Vavra studied his subjects and craft in earnest, spending more than a decade photographing Andalusians, Arabians, Lusitanos, and Camargue horses in southern Europe. Finally, he encountered Majestad. It had been more than a decade since Iberia, but Majestad helped convince Vavra that the time had come to publish his equine photographic art in a book. Vavras characteristic high-contrast photographs capture his favorite horses with breathtaking insight. But of Majestad, he said, He is the only horse I ever had room for in my heart. Majestad graced the cover of Vavras first horse book, Equus, The Creation of a Horse, published in 1978. The stallion is shown in three-quarter profile, standing in a field of bright-red poppies. Michener, in the forward for Equus, wrote, These photographs are works of art. They are a joy to see, because they evoke the inner nature of the horse. Since Equus, Vavra has published 32 books, including Such Is the Real Nature of Horses, Stallion of a Dream, Horses of the Sun, and most recently, Stallions of the Quest. He is also known for creating the photographic imagery for Robert Redfords The Horse Whisperer. This magnificent horse comes with Vavras original 50 min. CD Horses of the Wind, a musical celebration of horses and a 28-page booklet illustrated with Vavras glorious color photographs. Includes poppy garlands.

    5Majestad is a classic!
    By A Customer
I love this stallion! In a collection of over 45 model horses, Majestad is my absolute favorite. The reason I give this model 4 stars for durability is not that he has broken in any way shape or form, it's that I have had multiple Breyers break their legs and go to the model horse heaven. Do not play with this too roughly, because that is why my other two broke. This stallion gives you a look of brilliance and kindness all mixed together. Overall, I think this stallion is the best and most beautiful horse Breyer ever made!!!!!

    5My favorite Breyer Horse
    By Bike Rider
I got this stallion for my birthday and it's my favorite Breyer horse yet. This is a great horse and really fun. He is breakable, but mine hasn't broken. I like how you can take off the roses and put them on other Breyer horses. This stallion is one of the oldest horses of Breyer. I can't believe they're still making them! I hope they do! Buy it now!!!

5Majestad by Robert Vavra - Majestic, Indeed!
    By Shelby Lee
Robert Vavra is universally acclaimed as the world's premier photographer of equines. His more than thirty books have been translated into eight languages and have moved the mighty and the masses. Ernest Hemingway was his friend. Princess Grace of Monaco, Sir Yehudi Menuhuin, William Shatner, Prince Bernard of the Netherlands, Peter Ustinov, and James Michener have written the forewords to his books. Ustinov called him "an alchemist with a camera". Michener said he knew no better photographer. The book they did together was for more than a year on The New York Times best-seller list.By glorifying the horse in his personal style, Robert Vavra has become an icon in his own lifetime. He is to equines what Annie Leibowitz and Herb Ritts are to the rich and famous.Of all the horses Robert Vavra has photographed, his favorite remains the Andalusian stallion, Majestad, who appeared in a field of Spanish poppies on the cover of Equus. Majestad was also the protagonist of another Vavra book, Stallion of a Dream, of which Peter Ustinov wrote: "Only visible are the dunes, the blinding fields of flowers and the vast sky, the epic intimacy of Robert Vavra's vision." Vavra has written 32 international bestsellers translated into ten languages totaling more than 3 million books in print. If anyone knows the beauty of horses, it's Robert Vavra and Breyer -- combined together to produce the gorgeous Majestad Model! Once I saw him, I knew I had to have him. Majestad is a milky white color, fading into shadowey, cremey grays throughout his body. Standing tall, with his neck arched and his left leg raised proudly, Majestad is simply gorgeous. Silk poppies adorn him, wrapped around his hoof, neck, and tail.Majestad comes with a 50-minute stereo CD featuring the actual hoofbeats and voices of stallions, mares and foals and sounds of nature. The CD pamphlet itself is a 28-page full color booklet describing the 14 musical themes with Vavra's color photographs. The CD is simply amazing, enchanting, and the photographs and poetic stories that accompany each "song" or "piece" are delightful. You get to hear and experience the lives of a herd, of stallions fighting for mares, of the first breath of air and accompaning days of a foal's life in Spring. You do NOT want to miss this. And what better time to bring out all of your Breyers and play a little make-believe with this CD playing in the background? One of the personal highlights of Majestad I have noticed is his expandability. By simply loosening the poppy strands (which are twisted together like pipe cleaners), you can remove them completely (and put them on again as many times as you want!) Admiring him from different angles, his pose is striking and his entire body so realistic, that he'd be dazzling in any photo or horse model show imaginable. With a saddle and bridle set (custom, most likely, because of his mold) he would fit perfectly into a model horse show. Majestad is one of the more versatile Breyers I have ever seen, with a pose striking enough to draw attention and yet simple enough to be used in a variety of ways. As a wild horse or in the show ring, he is DEFINATELY in the spotlight! But for such a magnificent, beautiful model, Majestad has his flaws. The poppies wrapped around his tail are constantly falling off at the slightest touch of movement, and it's a bit hard to fumble around trying to find the "sweet spot" it will stay in. Also, his back legs are a bit awry in their position, thus it is very easy to knock this poor boy down with a careless bump. VERY easy. Have I told you that my desk is now off limits to my kitty and Majestad, exclusively? ;)Majestad makes a splendid show horse, one to display proudly on your shelf, to take pictures of, and to enjoy from a safe distance. But in my experience, he should NOT be used as a toy to play with, unless you don't mind smashed flowers, scratches, etc. For the experienced and avid Breyer collector, he is a must-have. But for the every-now-and-then-new-buyer, you'd be better off admiring his pictures on the internet and buying a less fragile model for your collection.

    2Beautiful, but BEWARE!
    By Hansolo
Bought this chair over a year ago. Thought it was the most attractive highchair on the market. And "Wow! She'll use it for years! Maybe she'll even use it as her desk chair when she's studying in college!" Loved it up until this morning, when we had to call 911 after she pushed herself over backward (and was semi-unresponsive) in the chair. If you have hardwood floors, it works just fine...it slides back easily. We just moved to a house with rough stone floors and it does not slide at all (even after putting flet "sliders" underneath), therefore it tips backward with little effort. I hope you take this into consideration if you have stone or carpeted floors. Now I'll be looking for a chair with a tray.

5Best Zeat you can ever buy!
    By Nathalie Klasens
We bought the Stokke when we still lived in the Netherlands and we started using it as soon as our son was about six months old. In Europe they sell a infant-kit with the Stokke, sadly you can not buy one here and our hope is that they will start doing that really soon because we have eight month old twins and it puts us for a real big dillema for what to do without a stokke for them. But we have been using the Stokke KinderZeat for over 2 years now and I cannot say anything negative about it. Our son just loves his chair, he has always been part of our meals. He used it for crafts, playtime, just name it and it has been used for. It is truly worth every penny you put in it and to be honest I even like sitting on it!!!!

    5Great Idea! Great Chair!
    By April
I just purchased two of these chairs after seeing them online and reading the great reviews. I think they are a great idea. My older daughter is 4 and my younger is 18 months and this seat works great for both. I bought the seat cushions to go with them as well. I use the waist buckle with my younger daughter and it holds her in fine. It's the same type as the one in the plastic seat we were using. Now she can sit up at the table with the rest of the family. She liked it so much I could hardly get it put together before she was trying to climb up and sit on it. My older daughter likes hers as well. It's better than the soft booster seat we were using that would slide all around in the chair. I like the fact that it is easily adjustable to the right size. We should be able to use it for many years - even after the kids are grown since it holds up to 300 pounds. My husband thought it was a little pricey but personally I don't mind spending the money if I feel it is a worthwhile purchase which is how I feel about this chair.

We ordered this for our daughter who is almost 2 for Christmas. It was easy to set up, although I didn't realize how much room it would take up! It's big enough for an adult and a child, and an adult can even fit through the tunnel. Our cats love to play in it, too!

My daughter was 17 months old when we purchased this tent and she loves it! Putting it together and taking it down is extremely easy, so we have had it both outdoors and even indoors on occasion. Also, it folds up very small and is easy to store when you aren't using it. She drags her toys in and out of it and has the best time!

    5Price - high. Reward - sheer joy for a 30 month old.
    By Ian Mccullough
First, we purchased this set with a Thomas table and I cannot imagine the set on the floor. Also, it was purchased on a famed, well-known, auction Internet site. I think you know the one. This is a terrific set, with many activities for the little engineer. The grain loader is awesome, and the grain car is very clever. The crane comes off easily, but is still fun and can be swapped (with slight modification) for the cargo loader. The Sodor Lumber piece is also excellent. In any case, the interactivity of this set is what drew my wife and I. The focus is squarely on *doing* things with the Thomas engines - not on reenacting television episodes or listening to the new generation of plastic beeping thingys. On a final note, I recommend switching the location of the grain loader to where the barrel loader is. This makes it much easier to get to the grain loader, which is one of the better pieces in the Thomas universe.

    5Best investment ever
    By Mom of boys
I bought a smaller set of Thomas 3+ years ago and have addded just about every piece and every engine they have... I have a 3 yr old and a 5 yr old (boys) I have a train table set up with rolling bins under the table and NOT one single day has passed in the last 3 years where that train has not been played with... We are a favorite house among my sons friends and Learning Curve stands behind their product.... This may seem like a HUGE investment, and IT IS!!! But Learning curve has a LIFETIME warranty.. and they truly stand behind this.... I will have these trains for my grandchildren in years to come.....Dont hesitate buying any of the wooden railway, you wont be disappointed...

5a little flawed, but hours of fun
    By Jeff Weselinski
I got this set for my 3 year old daughter for Christmas. She was very excited when she got it. It took a little time to put it together but it was worth it. Her and I play with this set all the time. We make up adventures as we go along. As far as the track goes, it did not fit snug as I thought it would. It fits a little too loose. The original track layout is a little tough if you are playing on the floor. Also, you really can't let the trains go down the hills on the original layout, because the trains derail WAY too easy. The destinations are pretty cool. The barrel loader is easy to work as well as the log loader, but the crane is alittle difficult to use because of the small knobs to reel in the crane. The only other flaw is the ramps themselves. You can'yt put too many cars hooked to the train because they have a tendency to turn and fall off the track too easy and some of the trains bottom out going up and down the ramps. As far as the fun is concern there is plenty of it. You can create many different track layouts because of how much track you get. A good tip is to have more straight tracks when you finish coming down the hill so the trains do not derail. Also if your kid is like mine, if they are playing on the floor, and they sit inthe middle of the track, make a big wide square track and they will enjoy it better. I would recommend the original layout for a train table than the floor. ONly beacause there are areas where you have to reach far to use the crane and to go under the bridge. The simpler the layout the better. My daughter loves when I make a layout with all bordges and ramps. Sometimes I make a steep down hill track with the two tracks side by side and have train races. There is no end of different things you can do with this set. So hop aboard this train set for many hours of fun. It even comes in it's own toy box for storage. The box is decorative and made very well. This railway series has many things you can buy to add on this set. Also what is cool, after my daghter is done playing with it, my son can also enjoy it in the future. Yes it is pricey but definitly worth the money,.
