Great for the cost

This mic doesn't perform as well as a Shure or Sennheiser shotgun microphone, but it doesn't cost $999 either. I'm using it with a JVC DV camera, and a Behringer 10 channel mixer. It's well worth the money. For the best location sound, use this mic on a boom pole, and lavalier mics for each actor. I was blown away with how much better the sound from this mic is than from the Shure dynamic (handheld) microphone I was using before.

If you're working on a low budget movie, and want to have professional, reliable, and easy to use sound equipment, this mic is worth the money (it even includes a shock mount).

Good entry level Shotgun Mike

The Shotgun Mike is ideally suited for anyone picking up a prosumer camera and who needs a shotgun mike that offers excellent pickup at a reasonable rate. Be sure to pick up the 18" XLR-XLR cable and the 6" XLR-3.5 cables. The shock mount I received came with extra bands.This is a good entry level mike for you. Couple this with a UHF lav mike (or two) if you intend shooting fiction or documentary.A Gitzo boom pole & shockmount (sold separately) along with a Fostex data recorder can give you a killer sound recording kit.

good for the money

Bought this for use with a panasonic ag-dvx100 and I haven't been disappointed--the audio quality I've captured is much better than that with the factory mic. I wish I had seen the two-barrel version of this earlier...oh well. It takes an XLR cable (well that should be obvious from the description) so a buyer should be clear that they have 3pin XLR jack on whatever equipment it is they are recording into. This is a decent mic for $150, it won't blow you away but neither will the cost. Comes in a little pleather pouch, with a foam windscreen, shock isolating mount which screws into the hot shoe adapter and is better in design than the one standard with my camera, as well as some replacement rubber rings for the mount. The mic takes two AA batteries if I can recall. It has an off /on switch, and it has a cardioid/super-cardioid switch. Pretty basic....I'd like to mount this on a boom eventually...

Great toy for kids & adults

Can't keep our hands off this series of magnet/engineering/architectural thingees. Our kids are constantly constructing geodesic design-type things and tops that spin while I fiddle with them even as I'm on the phone. They are just great items. One note, not advisable for very young children -- my son was a bit too fond of putting them in his mouth so they had to go in a cupboard until they were a bit older, but the fascination with these small construction bits continue! Love it that by osmosis they learn principles of engineering & architecture (even mathematics) just by building things!

Sleek Design. Great Coffee. A Keeper.

Having been sorely disappointed with the Cuisinart Grind & Brew, I moved on to the Capresso MT500. I have not been disappointed.

Aside from being a superior coffee maker, the MT500 is a sleek, elegant appliance that looks great on any kitchen counter.

The keypad is simple and easy to use, and includes a digital clock for 24-hour programmability (a key must-have for me). The unit has a 3-5 cup small batch setting for fast and efficient brewing of smaller quantities (another must-have for me).

Perhaps most importantly, the unit brews very satisfactorily hot coffee, unlike the Grind & Brew, which I found luke warm (less than 170F). The thermal carafe does an excellent job of keeping unused coffee hot, particularly when you pre-heat it with hot water.

My only criticism would be that fill-level is inconveniently positioned and somewhat hard to read.

All in all, I'm very pleased with every aspect of the MT500.

I love coffee! Unfortunately, for most of my life,I have been drinking brew from the likes of Mr. Coffee.Their machines, and most others in theirprice range, provide adequate flavored coffee that isnever delivered hot out of the machine.The ULTIMATE QuestionIs there a PERFECT coffee machine in the $100-$200range and is such a machine possible?My needs were simple. I needed a maker that brewspiping hot coffee, does it quickly and effectively,and is easy to operate and clean.Based on recommendations I received from coffeedrinkers on many Internet discussion forums, Idecided to spend about $170 for the Capresso MT500.The machine is certainly beautiful, but not withoutdesign flaws, mainly the way your carafe must sitpinpointed beneath the filter cup to avoid overflow.I am not also very keen on the placement of the waterlevel meter. I have to pull the machine out from itsresting place and turn it just to see how much waterI have poured in.The included Gold-tone filter basket is coned shapedrather than round, which suits me fine as its deepnessallows more coffee capacity with less of a chance ofgrinds spilling into the brew.You really not need to even read the instructions tofigure out how to use the Capresso MT500 within minutesout of the box, though not doing so would mean it wasnot primed properly.Does this coffee maker produce piping hot coffee?Well, that depends....The first thing I was instructed to do after pluggingin the Capresso MT500 for the first time was to installthe charcoal filter and run 6 cups of water throughthe machine to activate. The water that came out intothe carafe was piping hot!The problem is, those of us that only make a few cupsof coffee in the morning (I use 3 cups of water), aregoing to be disappointed. The temperature of mycup of coffee was lukewarm. The instructions evensuggest that if you are going to make 3-4 cups ofcoffee that you should rinse the carafe with hotwater first.This is a major disappointment.On the other hand, I must say that the Capresso MT500produced the absolute best coffee I have ever had. Icould not believe the smoothness of the flavor. It'sthe same kind of coffee you would expect from a good restaurant.I'm not quite sure if the secret to the Capresso'sgreat tasting coffee is the way it brews or the factthat it has a charcoal filter that removes the impuritiesfrom the water. I suppose in the end it doesn't matter. Coffee tastes damn good!Though the Capresso MT500 comes with a single charcoalfilter, I would suggest stocking up on more. Amazon.comsells Capresso 4440.90 3-pack Charcoal Water Filters forabout $10.In ConclusionI'm not exactly a happy camper over the Capresso MT500for the simple fact that it can't produce piping hotcoffee for anything under approx. 6 cups. I am goingto go out on a limb and say that perhaps because of theshortened brewing time, there is probably no coffee makerin existence that can produce piping hot brew for a few.On the other hand the Capresso MT500 produces outstanding,flavorful, heavenly-smooth coffee that I have not beenable to bring to my home using something similar to Mr. Coffee.UPDATE: I returned the Capresso MT500 to the retailer.I just purchased a Technivorm KB-741 which isidentical in price to the Capresso, but rated at 125 wattsmakes VERY HOT coffee in small amounts. I am in heaven!

You need to order the charcol filters too!

It's not mentioned anywhere here but this unit requires charcoal filters that are replaced every couple of months. Only found this out after giving it as a gift to my parents. A web search only turned up a 2-3 sites that sold them so I don't think they're very common. I would recommend that you purchase a goodly supply with the coffee maker. Amazon sells them as "Capresso 4440.90 3-pack Charcoal Water Filters" in case you're trying to hunt them down.

Perfect handtruck

This is light weight. Purchased to carry boxes for an office of women. Weighs about 8 pounds and fold with one hand. We found it to be exactly what we were looking for! Our boxes can weigh 80-100 pounds each and we can stack two on the handtruck. Very durable.

I really like how compact and sturdy this product is. The only reason I didn't rate it as a 5 star is that when you have boxes stacked up to the top handle, there isn't any way to hold onto it without having your hand stuck between the handle and the boxes. Sort of annoying.

The main problem about these hand trucks that will keep me from buying them again is that the plastic molding that locks the wheels in place after you unfold them wears out and tends to fight you when you try to lock them in place. It also leads to the point that if you were to pull instead of push (like when you have to turn around) the wheels fold in and collapse the hand truck. We haven't exceeded the weight limits on these so that is not what caused the problem. I run a computer support department and we frequently have used the six lift trucks that I ordered. The other noticeable thing is that on two of the units the telescoping rod support on the back broke loose. We weren't even that hard on them. After almost two years we have two left. I will be trying another hopefully more durable brand. They might be better for light work though.

For the coffee gourmet

If you are serious about the quality of the coffee you drink, then you know that the beans must be fresh-ground right before brewing. The beans must also be uniformly ground to prevent over- or underextraction of coffee oils during the brewing process. A burr grinder, as opposed to a blade grinder, achieves a uniform grind since the beans only pass through its burrs once. This Capresso grinder has commercial-grade conical burrs that reduce the generation of heat which can ruin the flavor of the coffee. I like the fact that the bean container holds a generous half pounds of beans, so you can fill it and forget it for morning after morning of perfect coffee. The 16 grind settings allow grinds for every coffeemaker and blend. Cleaning the unit is a breeze. The top burr is easily removable, and the unit can then be cleaned with the included brush. The grinder operation is quiet. If I have any complaint, it is that the timer, marked from 1 to 10, is hard to correlate with grind time and the resultant amount of ground coffee. Although the fineness of the grind makes grind times vary, the enclosed booklet, which has tips for use, should have included some guidelines for timer/grind settings/yield to minimize the guesswork. I recommend this grinder for the coffee gourmet.

Great coffee grinder

Finally, a coffee grinder that grinds coffee the way I like it. As you all know, you get a much stronger cup of coffee with a powder like grind and you use less coffee. I have had a couple other models that do not grind it very fine or always clog up. I buy french roast beans that are oily. This grinder I am very pleased with, it grinds to a powder. I would highly recommend this for anyone who likes to do their own grind. FYI I have the black plastic model, I think it is the 560 model. The only difference between the 560 & 565 is the outer. The inner parts are identical. Enjoy your coffee!

In a side-by-side test w/ Kitchenaid's Proline, THIS prevailed.

I was in a W-S store two weeks ago and saw this grinder, saw a rep demo it, and knew I had to have it to go with a newly acquired super-special-deluxe ultra turbo chraged espresso maker. So, I bought it. Also, the other coffee grinder I had, had, after years of faithful service, died.With my old grinder, which only featured the ability to load the beans and then grind them until your finger got tired of pushing the button, imagine how delighted I was with this baby. Settings which let you just load it, then grind the beans so fine that it's almost like silk. I was in heaven. In fact, for my espresso, I have to leave the grinder selector turned quite down on the "fine" setting or else it becomes to fine. And the grinder, motors and overall build of this baby are super solid, so I know I will be having it for years, and years to come.Flash forward to this weekend. Was in another store and came across Kitchenaid's Proline Burr grinder. About $60 dollars more, but I absolutely fell in love with it. Also, the Kitchenaid features glass containers vs. plastic (which the Capresso has). I was in heaven again. SO much so, I bought the Kitchenaid, lugged the beast through the mall and to my car with a dozen or so other packages (no small task), ready to return the Capresso. But then I decided to put them side by side and see which performed better.Loaded them both up with beans, put them on the various settings and let them go. The Capresso, always produces a finer grind. It actually grinds for Turkish coffee, something the Kitchen can simply not do. Even when you have the Kitchenaid on the FINEST setting allowed, it produces an espresso grind that is coarser than the almost the "lowest" espresso setting of the Capresso if you follow that. The Kitchenaid, I concluded, is simply not for espresso fans. It will be good for those who favor drip or French Press. Or, as I learned when I put the Kitchenaid model on the lowest setting "1", if you like a grinded coffee bean that resembles asphalt or marbles, then its for you.However, if you like an extremely solid, very well built grinder that will delivery ANY, ANY, ANY type of grind you want, then get this one. It's even a great price too, certainly as compared to other grinders in this area (like Kitchenaids). This is simply an outstanding product.Now, off to return the Kitchenaid....

Great for novice or beginner...

This is a great set for a weekend warrior or someone thinking of taking up the game (like me). Great set of woods. Comes with a 1, 3 and a 3/4 hybrid. Also came with a 5, 7, 9 iron and a decent putter. Only thing missing is a pitching wedge and a sand wedge, but if you're a lefty clubs are dirt cheap so overall this is a great buy.
