Great watch

This watch have been with me for 3 years now, I've hiked with it, swam with it, etc, it works great. The back light is also nice.Many options, alarms, time zones, etc. the battery is supposed to last for 10 yrs.Some weaknesses:1) the case is very thick, maiking the watch a lil bulky.2) setting it up can be a lil confusing. the interface has to allow for more options and is not as intuitive as previous classic casio models.3) buttons are not easy to press, I guess that's b/c they are also very resiliant to the elements.I hope this helps,Adam

Soyo P4X400 Dragon Ultra, A Great Sensation

I recently purchased the Soyo P4X400 for my new computer, and am very thrilled with this Motherboard. Instalation is extremly simple and jumperless, making it a great buy for first time computer builders. The support for DDR400 is great. Although there are rumors that it doesn't really support DDR400, they are not true. However, it's only tested to run with Mushkin 94V-0 0225 990902 256M DDR400 Ram. Also, you Only 2 banks of PC2700, and PC3200 are supported, this means you can only place two DDR333(PC2700), or DDR400(PC3200) modules on this board. this board does, however, support three DDDR266(PC2100) memory modules. If two modules(PC3200, or PC2700) are being used on this board, Make sure to place one module on DDR socket #2, and one on DDR socket #3. If only one memory module is being used on the board, you can place the module on either one of the memory sockets. The board comes with a "sigma" box with four USB 2.0 ports on it. The "sigma" box goes in a 3.5" floppy drive, although it has mounting brackets for a 5.25" drive bay. The board has full support for USB 2.0, and also has support for AGP 8x. Last but not least, this board supports "HT" (Hyper Threading) technology so you can upgrade processors at any time and support them. Along with ATA 66/100/133 support, 5 PCI slots integrated 6 channel audio, and integrated graphics means taht you can practically just buy the board and you're set. It is an ATX form factor baord, and supports Windows XP. All in all, another solid addition to the Dragon Family.

good and strong

The 26" box is very well made, has great locking latches and is big. It isn't so big that it isn't portable - but it is probably as big as you'd want to carry around with you. It has an internal tray to store your smaller stuff in and a nice comfortable carry handle. The 36" box is HUGE and is NOT PORTABLE!! This is a box you'd want if you're looking for sturdy, permanent tool storage in your workshop or the back of your pickup. I wish they made these things in plain black, but that's probably just me :-) I recommended these products - they're good. Happy shopping. JB

Excellent Product!

I'm an union electrician and I had always used Klein canvas tool bags. I was getting sick and tired of my tools always getting ruined from rolling around in the tool bag. You could try and isolate everything in individual smaller bags, but then you had a very full tool bag.So, I started looking for a toolbox that was both strong and wasn't heavy. Metal toolboxes always tended to be too heavy, even when empty. That's when I decided to try the Rubbermaid Durabull toolbox due to the quality usually associated with Rubbermaid products. I was especially impressed with the type of plastic that this toolbox was constructed with. I had used other products that were made of this plastic and they were very strong and resilient. The price was competitive and the free shipping was great.The toolbox was shipped and received promptly. Upon opening the package, the toolbox was awesome. I liked the takeout tray that comes with the toolbox. I'm able to put my delicate test equipment and other items where they won't get damaged. The size of the box allows room for all my tools and my tool pouch. The weight of the toolbox, with everything, is manageable. Nothing beats a tool bag for weight, but considering everything I've mentioned, this toolbox is perfect for my needs. I would highly recommend this product! Thanks, Amazon!

What a beast! I love it.

I have had one of these for about 6 months now and it is pretty incredible. Weighs about the same as a good metal toolbox of the same size, but this is SOO much stronger. And because it is plastic it does not dent or rattle.This is not typical tackle-box type plastic; this is some very hard composite stuff. Very rigid, very strong toolbox.You need one of these.

Lots of features but not a lot of education...

This 500-in-1 kit has more features than the average attention span can handle (I won't re-hash the list here. You can find the complete list of projects online somewhere).So, this is not a "Well, this looks like a good gift for Johnny" product. Whoever is going to receive (if it's a gift) or purchase for themselves, should be fairly serious about learning electronics. If not, start with a much smaller kit, and work yourself up to this one.As far as construction, it's pretty sturdy. The breadboard is centrally located and from a layout perspective, I had no trouble setting up any of the experiments.****** NOTE *******There are a TON of resistors, wires, caps, etc.I ended up buying a couple plastic partitioned containers to hold everything and that still wasn't enough. Pretty much everything comes in an individually marked plastic bag, and Tesla help you if you don't take care in replacing everything back into the correct baggie, or you'll quickly memorize the Resistor Identification chart...though, that may not be a bad side-effect :)*********************I did have some trouble with the breadboard itself, in that some of the slots were really tough to punch into and with my big sausage-like fingers, I ended up bending a few leads and wire ends here and there and settled on using some needle nose pliers to feed the tough slots.The experiments are split up into 3 large softbound manuals (Aprox 10"x14") and cover a very wide range of projects. There are "Did you know" type blurbs throughout which makes them informative.****** NOTE *******My biggest problem with this kit is with the text of the experiments. I found myself wanting more "This is what's happening and why" type of information, but what you get is mostly just how to set up the project. IMHO, it's missing 1 or 2 more paragraphs talking about the Why of the project.**********************Ironically, the most use I actually got out of this kit, was to prototype and test some circuts and devices (motors, lights, solenoids, etc) using the breadboard and the variable resistor pots, but I've since purchased a breadboard from R.S. and some basic wires/resistors/caps/etc that allow me to do all that.My ADD only allowed me to trek through the first manual before I saw another shiny object and left this kit to gather dust in the closet. If you are serious about using a kit to learn electronics, then this is probably for you. If you are looking at it from a hobby view, I'd recommend starting with something smaller.(Sorry for the long review, but since no one else has submited one, I figured I'd try to be of some help)

Tons of fun, but not much learning value

There are not many vendors of experimentation sets, and electronic sets in particular, left anymore. Most vanished to the begin of the 90th. There is Kosmos as the market leader, Busch, and Elenco, and a variety of small vendors who sell direct. The Elenco 500-in-One offers an amazing value for the amount of parts and scope of experiments one can do. Unfortunately, the instruction booklets are of little help. Each lab has a diagram and a few words of text. The diagram is sufficient to build the lab but the three words of text do nothing to explain why things work as they work. I think for a child or a teenager this set has value as it offers a lot of fun to build pretty complex and interesting electronic stuff, when compared to other experimentation kits, but does little for the education on learning how to develop your own. As a toy, it is a good alternative for some hands-on in a world of virtualization through game consoles, iPhone, and massive multiplayer online games.This said, you will find in the the 500-in-One a fun electronic toy which you can also use as a basis for your own electronics studies with the choice of your favorite text book. If you prefer the later, however, you can also get a breadboard and parts according to your own needs.If you are looking for alternatives, I can recommend Kosmos Electronics Workshop 2 (XN 3000, Electronic Pofi) for older kids and adults as well as Elenco Snap Circuits which is ideal in particular for young children (my 3 year old daughter enjoys snapping together simple circuits which make a lamp glow or a motor spin.) There are also many smaller vendors, some attached to publishers of magazines and some individuals, offerings sets about different topics. Also Lego Mindstorms with its very custimizable I2C and analog interfaces (book "Extreme NXT" shows you how) or the very flexible German Fischertechnik Computing series can be nice compliments (or alternatives) to build electronically controlled machines and robots without tools.

Disappointed due to high expectation

.Elenco 500-in-One Elecronic Project LabBeing an electronic engineer myself but having spent most of my working life on supervisory level I thought I could refresh my electronic knowledge and purposefully engage my retirement life. Unfortunatley when I started going through the exercises I soon realised it didnt help you in any way to learn/refresh the theory of electronics. For example the accompanying books dont give: circuit despcription, functions of the components used in a circuit, why a particular value of the component is selected etc. If the "Lab" was supplied with a book with the above explanations it would have been of a great value for serious learners as well as for the experienced engineers.Probably Amazon.com could take it up with the "lab" manufacturer to bring out a book with the above contents along with it. But if there is already one with such contents could some one advise me of this

Now a lazy person can have clean teeth

I've been using the Elite 7300 for about a week now. I really do enjoy it - my teeth feel like I've just been to the dentist. I have fillings on the front of my teeth, and food frequently gets caught on the rough surfaces. Not anymore! The only real drawback I've found is brushing my tongue - brushing it with the toothbrush on sprays toothpaste all over the bathroom, and brushing it with the toothbrush off (like an old fashioned manual toothbrush) is annoying because the toothbrush head is very small. LOVE the 2 minute timer, and I just can't say enough that I LOVE how my teeth feel.I had a tough time deciding on the different Elite lines, because I didn't find any helpful info on the difference between the models. So I'm going to tell you.The 7800 allows you to change the pre-programmed 2 minute brushing time to 2 1/2 minutes. It also comes with a "luxury brush holder" - a wall mount kit. Also has a dual speed control and different charger indicator.The 7500 comes with the stuff above, except not the timer change option.The 7300 does not come with any of that, and works just fine. No need to spend the extra cash - it's fine just the way it is.

Worth the upgrade?

As an owner of an "original" Sonicare (on my second actually) I am writing this review more from the perspective of whether the Elite is worth $[$$]+ as an "upgrade".

First, from an aesthetic and ergonomic point on view the Elite is a big step forward. The handle is lighter and has a tapered shape with a rubber grip. More importantly the brush head is smaller and is more of a diamond shape rather than the "original" rectangle. The brush head "neck" is also angled to provide easier access to the back teeth and "flexes" both horizontally and vertically.

That being said, the Elite just does not seem as "powerful" as the original. This is based not only on my subjective opinion of the "feel" while brushing but also on an objective "look" at the brush head while powered on. Whereas the original has bristles that travel through a 90 degree arc, the Elite bristles barely travel at all. Granted, this may be in part due to the smaller/shorter bristles. Sonicare claims that the Elite is actually better from a functional point of view and I cannot say otherwise, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt. (yes, i tested with the "beginner mode" turned off)

Also, after six weeks of usage, one of the magnets on the Elite brush head appears to have rusted significantly. This was never a problem with the "original" Sonicare brush heads. Whether this affects performance or not I cannot say. As the brush head enters its third, fourth or fifth month of service I can only assume that the changes for decreased performance would increase. Also, black "moldy" appearing deposits accumulate in the handle "well" which, also, never occured with the "original". My guess here is that water is allowed to accumulate inside the brush head and handle well because of the flexible rubber housing (between the brush head "nut" and "neck") allows for the 360 degree "flex" I mentioned earlier-this housing is not sealed. When I inquired, Sonicare denied(not having seen the unit) that what I was seeing was rust, and referred me to the cleaning instructions. Take that for what it is worth...

I have found one interesting thing... While the "original" brush head will not fit the Elite handle, the Elite brush head WILL fit the "original" handle. I detect no difference in the brushing experience using that combination.

My recommendations therefore are:

1) if you have never had a Sonicare then by all means buy the "Elite"... (but be wary of the rusting problem)

2) if you currently have an "original" that is on its last legs then buy an Elite (again be wary of the rust)

Best value. The logical choice.

This model has all the features of the Elite 9500 (2 brush heads, 2 cleaning modes, programmable quadpacer, and a guage to indicate about how much charge is remaining in the battery), but it's $12 cheaper from Amazon!All the "programmable quadpacer" feature amounts to is the ability to leave it on for an extra (i.e., a fifth) 30-second interval, or the ability to turn the timer off so that it's just on/off. I regard most of the features as functional ornamentation ("bells and whistles"), but the Elite 9800 also happens to be a dependable, super-lightweight model that will run a good three weeks on a charge with only one person using it. I went on a three-week trip and didn't bother to pack my charger, and it had charge to spare when I got back. NOTE: I always allow the NiCd battery run all the way down (to exhaustion) before charging it, and that enhances both the charge and battery life. (NiCd's only have so many charge cycles.)If this is your first electric, you might like the way it comes out of the box programmed to gradually ramp-up the power over the first fourteen brushings.What's the difference between the 9800 and the 9500? The models appear identical. The only difference I found is that one comes in a box that says 9800, the other says 9500. :-)

Great device but with planned obsolescence

Similar to many people here, my dentist suggested that I start using a Sonicare. I bought the Advance model about four years ago and used it anywhere from 2-4 times a day. My dentist noticed the difference right away and recommended that I continue to use it.I typically get about 12 days between charges, so I've gotten into the habit of charging it on the 10th and 20th of the month. About a year ago I went on a trip and it died two days into the trip. I later noted that my Sonicare had just turned three and had undergone less than 100 charge cycles. A good set of rechargeable batteries should last anywhere from 300-900 charge cycles, but the Sonicare is using a unique wireless charging system that may or may not have a detrimental impact on the batteries.In an attempt to prevent another item from being sent to a landfill, I contacted Sonicare, told them that my batteries appeared to be dead and asked to have them replaced. I offered to pay for shipping and cost of the batteries, but they advised that they don't provide that service, but would be willing to sell me a new one at a discount. I thanked them but declined.Since the warranty expired, I took a Dremel tool to the Sonicare and opened it up. To my delight, I noted that the batteries employed by the unit were two standard, albeit unbranded AA NiCad cells. I removed and replaced them with two 600mah Sanyo cells, closed the handle and sealed it shut with silicone. It's been over a year now and my Sonicare is working as well as it did the day I bought it. For the gear heads out there, the Sonicare consumes about 1.3 watt hours and lasts about 14 days between charges when used twice a day. This equates to about 56 minutes of total run time, which means that the original batteries installed in the Sonicare were ~600 mah. I considered replacing the batteries with 2000mah NiMH cells, but opted against this option as the cells would probably self-discharge before I depleted the cells from normal use.I disagree with another reviewer and do not believe the Sonicare should use Li-Ion or Li-Poly cells. Li-Ion and Li-Poly cells require sophisticated charging and discharging circuitry. They also last fewer recharging cycles than NiCads. Conversely, NiCads take a lot of abuse and in an application of this size, they provide more than enough storage capacity. For the bean counters, NiCads are cheap to source. However, the cadmium in NiCads is highly toxic and not exactly the most environmentally friendly option for batteries. Compared to NiCads, Nickel Metals would be a better environmental choice but would provide little performance benefit.I like the Sonicare, but I don't approve of the idea of buying things and having to replace them because it was designed last a finite period and not be user serviceable. I would have given this item 5 stars had it been designed to allow the user the option to easily replace the batteries when they died as well as a having some sort of reclamation process for the $12 replacement heads.Updated to add: I just bought a new brush head over the weekend and they're up to $20 now for a single and $30 for a pair.(2 October, 2006)

The key to Sonicare longevity...

For those complaining about short-lived units: the key to longevity with this (or ANY Ni-Cad battery device) is NOT to leave it on the charger constantly. Only use the charger after the battery is drained. This way, mine gets recharged once every 2 weeks. Otherwise it sits in the drawer like a regular toothbrush. No manufacturer will EVER tell you that little tidbit for reasons I'm sure you can figure out yourself. ALL rechargeable batteries have a finite number of usable charge cycles. Once used up the battery will stop taking a charge. Another longevity trick is to take teflon tape (used by plumbers) and seal tightly the hold-down cap of the brush head - this prevents water from rusting out the brush head magnets.Update: Jan 22, 2011Well, a second family Advance a4100 finally went to toothbrush heaven. Lasted only a little over 7 years. (Another one in our family was on it's eight year when it finally died) Can't complain too much about that! That's with twice-daily use & charging it ONLY after it runs down completely. I love the Sonicare. A new Essence model in on the way from Amazon as the Advance appears to be phased out of the Sonicare line. Too bad. I hope that the Phillips takeover hasn't been for the worse. Also, I have switched to the E series brush heads as they are more readily available than the original heads. Possibly they were phased out also.

Not for the Chronically Uncoordinated

Based on my dentist's recommendation, I switched to an electric toothbrush, and ran across this one. I wasn't disappointed. The Sonicare left my teeth looking very white after just one use, and my teeth just feel cleaner than ever.

As a tea drinker, I contend with the stains that tea leaves. After my dentist recommended against using the whitening toothpastes, due to their abrasiveness to gums, I thought I was going to be stuck with healthier gums but stained teeth. Sonicare without whitening toothpaste makes my teeth look better than they did when I was using a regular toothbrush with whitening toothpaste. (I feel like a ditsy, smiling spokesmodel here but I really was impressed.)

My only complaint has been getting used to brushing with an electric toothbrush--a problem I suspect I would have with ANY electric toothbrush. You have to get in the habit of putting the Sonicare in your mouth, and closing your lips around the brush BEFORE you turn it on. Otherwise, you wind up with toothpaste decorating your bathroom mirror, your clothes, and pretty much the entire area around your bathroom sink. This isn't something easy to remember when your half awake and brushing your teeth. My other only complaint (OK, I guess I have two) is that Sonicare turns off after about two minutes, the time it has determined it should take you to brush your teeth. Being a little slower with things, I would rather turn it off when I'M done, not when it thinks I should be done. Apparently this design feature is to avoid over brushing. Since you can turn the Sonicare right back on again, this isn't a problem.

I can't speak for how long the charge lasts as I have left it on the charging stand when not in use. Apparently, however, the Sonicare is designed to hold a charge for quite a few hours, to allow you to take it with you while traveling, for instance, without having to bring the entire charging stand along.

The Streamlight Ultra Stinger™ Rechargable flashlight ROCKS!!!

I am a gadget nut, and I have a very large number of flashlights. IMHO, there is no better all-around flashlight than Streamlight's Ultra Stinger.

It truly is amazing how bright and light-weight this flashlight is. It puts out up to 75,000 candlepower yet weighs only 1.1 pounds. Not only is it bright, but you can focus the light to a small, penetrating beam that can be seen for miles.

Don't let the light weight fool you, however. This flashlight feels rock-solid in your hand, and it can take a licking. I take mine running almost every night, and have dropped it on the pavement more than a few times, and it just keeps going.

The Ultra Stinger is also durable and reliable. I've had my current model for over two years now, and the battery is still fine. I did have to replace the light bulb once, but that's not bad considering how many hours it's been in use and how many times I've recharged it.

The only flashlight that even compares to the Ultra Stinger is the SureFire 10X Dominator™. The Dominator weighs only 1.25 lbs and has a two-lamp assembly that allows you to run it at 60 lumens (roughly 36,000 CP by my calculations, about half the output of the Ultra Stinger) for up to 3 hours, or at an incredibly bright 500 lumens for up to 20 minutes. Yes, 500 lumens (or roughly 300,000 CP) is 4X brighter than the Ultra Stinger, but the light is UNFOCUSED, so the brightness is lost over any real distance as the light diffuses. When you factor in the ridiculously high price of the Dominator (the best price I could find on the Internet was $360!), you can see why I recommend the Streamlight as the overall champion. The Dominator is a great flashlight in its own right, of course, so probably the best idea is to get both.

I have several other flashlights from Streamlight, and they are all very well-made. Nevertheless, whenever I want a nice bright flashlight, I always go for my Ultra Stinger. My only serious question about it is, how can Streamlight make the Ultra Stinger so bright and light-weight, while their other models don't even come close? The brightest flashlight in the SL- series is the SL-35, which weighs 2.8 pounds (almost 3X more than the Ultra Stinger) and puts out up to 40,000 CP (Slightly more than half that of the Ultra Stinger). Plus, it's more expensive! The MSPR on the SL-35 is $229.95 vs. $174.95 for the Ultra Stinger. That math doesn't add up.

Other unbelievable examples: Streamlight's 3.3 pound 8-Watt Vulcan™ spotlight can generate up to 50,000 CP, and the 7.4 pound 20-Watt Litebox™ spotlight can kick out up to 70,000 CP. How is it even remotely possible that the Ultra Stinger, weighing in at 1.1 pounds and sporting a 10-Watt bulb, can out-shine these oversized hogs? The obvious answer is "runtime" - the Litebox™ can run at 20 Watts for up to 3.5 hours compared to a 1 hour runtime for the Ultra Stinger. Who cares - I'll take the Ultra Stinger every time!

Streamlight should take their older lights off the market and replace them or update them with the better technology found in the Ultra Stinger, like they did with the new Stinger HP. The Stinger HP weighs 12.2 ounces and kicks out 40,000 CP. Plus, the beam can be focused, while the SL- series is "pre-focused".

I'm sure that Streamlight is on the case -- the HP models are nice, and I really like the Pro Polymer LED lights, too. I just wish that they could come out with an affordable competitor to the $1,800 Maxabeam 6 million CP spotlight.

The best flashlight I have ever used

I'm pretty picky. I spend a lot of time researching my gadget and tool purchases, and I'm very demanding and critical of flaws in the things I buy. When I tell you that this is the best flashlight you will find anywhere, just trust me. I own one, I have given them as gifts, and I have used mine in a variety of different settings.From its extremely solid feel to its flawless performance, the Stinger delivers. The light is very bright. The adjustability of the light cone works very well, and the action of the switch mechanism and the adjustment are so tight and smooth. The body is finely knurled and is a pleasure to hold, and there is a great balance to the overall tool.The recharging unit is well designed. Full recharge takes very little time and I like knowing that my main flashlight is always where it's supposed to be and fully charged when I need it.My favorite use of the flashlight: I have dogs that sleep in their kennels at night. Sometimes they bark and wake me up. I reach for the Stinger and shine it at them through the window. Instant quiet! The light is so brilliant it just stuns them into muteness I guess.You cannot go wrong with this item.

Great serviceable rechargeable light. Good quality.

Streamlight's UltraStinger is really in a niche by itself. Mag Light's rechargeables aren't as bright and SureFire's are much more expensive, so the UltraStringer is really made for someone desiring a quality light that won't break the bank.

Some of the nice features of this light: It's very lightweight, very bright (75,000 candlepower), run time is very good for this much light output. Well made, quality construction.

Some of the cons about this light: Plastic lens (seems only SureFire will give you a genuine Pyrex, glass lens these days) and the spot/flood range isn't really that much of a difference (Mag's spot/flood produces a SPOT or a FLOOD). The Streamlight has a very coarse adjustment range, really being all the same style output, with very LITTLE difference in the SPOT / FLOOD. This isn't as bad as it sounds as the light produced is a very good, pure white light, I'd just like to see more variation in the range, but I'm being picky here.

One thing's for certain; this light is much better than Mag's rechargeable and a lesser light than SureFire's 8 or 9N rechargeable. But, it's also half the price of the SureFire and 80% less than SureFire's 10-X. So, I've got to give it 5 stars for being a great value, occupying a market not really served by either Mag or SureFire.

If you're a contractor or home inspector, this light is THE value on the market in a bright, quality constructed rechargeable.
