5We have 2 of them and they are nice phones for kids rooms
By D. Ferraioli
We got the first one about 3 years ago for my older son on a website at a price of $50 at Christmas time. My younger son always wanted one just like it. This year in March they had it at Toys R us for $20 and we got him the same one as his brother. The phone has about 10 different rings and all the functions that a regular phone has. We have been very happy with them and for this new price you can't go wrong.

5Great!
By A Customer
This is a great toy for a child's room or a high tech retreat. It gives you a change from those boring phones. I wish it wasn't made out of plastic though...

4Great when sitting in a blind
By R. Binkerd
I've owned the Newcon Optik LRM 1200 rangefinder for several years. It's very accurate and responsive. The only thing I don't like about it, is that it is larger that I'd like to carry around all day. Hunting from stands or ground blinds is where I use them. Wouldn't hesitate to buy again if these ever went out. Oh, the battery seems to last forever.

5Almost The Real Thing
By Fred Rayworth
In the 70's and 80's, I built an analog modular synthesizer and though I loved every minute of the process, it was a lot of work and cost a lot of money. It was nowhere near the capacity of even a moderate Moog modular system, but it still made me happy. The holy grail was to be able to work with a large modular but unless one wanted to pay almost as much for one of these babies as a small house, it would be a dream unfulfilled. Then came the computer age. This software virtual instrument (VST) is based on the Moog model 55 but has many features not found on the original. A big plus is that it stays in tune and doesn't drift like the original. Plus in most cases, it's truly polyphonic which was impossible with the original (and no, I don't consider two notes really polyphonic). All of the classic Moog modules are represented along with some others not found on the original, like a phase shifter, phlanger and a unique voicing filter module. Plus, this system includes the Bode frequency shifter which by itself, originally cost several thousand dollars. The Arturia guys did an excellent job simulating the original modules and the sound is so close to the original, I would have to have the real thing next to it to compare the sounds. I probably couldn't tell much different. They also made it with virtual patch cords that give a nostalgic feel and a bit of realism to the system. You have to patch everything manually, just like the original. It comes with hundreds of pre-patched sounds. I've experimented a little with them but my preference is to just start with a blank slate and go for it. However, there apparently is no blank slate. The default is a pre-patched sound, so I usually go from there. The module compliment has about everything you could think of for creating unique sounds, and in fact, it's not hard to come up with weird and wonderful noises. The filters are a key to this and that warrants a little description. There are three filter slots, each defaulting to the standard 24db/octave low pass filter. However, by clicking on the logo at the top, you can change it to the Moog high pass filter, a filter coupler module, or a multimode filter. So, you could do something like have the first filter be the standard Moog low pass, the next one the filter coupler set to band pass, and the third in multimode set to a notch response and then cascade them together. Also, the low frequency oscillators (LFO's) can be changed to the Bode frequency shifter, the voicing filter, and several other modules I forgot. For a controller, any midi or USB compatible keyboard controller will work, at least I think so. I use an Emu X-Board 49. With it, I can use the manual knobs to tweak any knob on the synth. You move each knob on the modular with a sweep of the mouse, but they also have the ability to learn a command from an external controller. I set up the key knobs I want to tweak with assigned ones on the keyboard and go to town. However, once you shut down, it loses all those controls and you have to relearn them the next time you power up.I have had no problems with this system at all, and I use probably the worst operating system ever created for music, Windows XP Media Center Edition. Despite that, it still works even though every other piece of musical hardware and software I have doesn't work with MCE.The system is a big CPU hog so I recommend you use a little more than the recommended 1Ghz minimal CPU speed. When doing a complex patch, especially polyphonic, it can really put a load on the CPU. The only real complaint I have is that this French company needed to hire an American or English technical writer as their very elaborate manual is full of typos and grammatical errors. It is still a good book and would be great to have just to read how those old Moog modules work.I recently, as of March 2009, discovered that when you use the sequencer, it doesn't put out any MIDI information! I was using Ableton Live 7 to record MIDI tracks and the only time it recorded was when I was pressing a key down on the keyboard. If not, I could play with the sequencer all day but it would not send any MIDI or record. I contacted Arturia and they told me it was a known problem and that none of their sequencers put out MIDI. The problem was sent to the engineers, but so far nothing. They also told me there is no workaround. So if you are planning on using the sequencer, it will have to be audio only. That is a huge disappointment, but not enough for me to quit using it with a keyboard. If you are into old school with a modern twist, this is the VST for you. Highly recommended.

5A terrific computer, a terrific value!
By Arthur S. Ross
When I was struck with the urge to buy a laptop, I spent a good deal of time reviewing the half dozen models that Apple had to offer. The Powerbooks were all the rage. My local dealer and many reviews pushed me in that direction; and, in truth, Powerbooks seemed to be technological wonders - the 17" screen model dazzled, the little 12" one could be had with a DVD-burning super drive, they had the superb G4 processor, etc. But three weeks ago, I took the plunge, and I ignored all that by securing the 14" screen iBook. It may be "slow" and "yesterday's technology," but that's not apparent to me - I love this computer!

It has a brilliant, beautiful screen that is a delight to my 60+ eyes. It does everything I need in a flash, including multiple programs, songs, photo management (Adobe Elements 2), and movies with iMovie. The suite of included software, including Apple's digital hub, is fabulous. The machine is gorgeous (though, to be frank, some might say its bright, white finish is akin to a kitchen appliance), extremely sturdy, and it gets warm, but not hot. Best of all, perhaps, is the price: hundreds less than a Powerbook! This is especially true when you factor in the cost of Applecare, the extended warranty program... Applecare provides terrific protection and allows you three years of telephone support from Apple's excellent technical support team.

"What's not to like?" I can only carp about three things. The speakers are pretty lame - "lo-fi," to be sure - but earphones cure that. Another USB input or two would be welcome, but a hub is the answer there. Finally, there is Apple's decision to eliminate a microphone input, this from a company on the leading edge of multi-media - what were they thinking?...

So, for function, for appearance, and particularly for value, I'd urge you to take a long look at the iBook. It's just been bumped to 900MGz, and it has 256RAM standard, so unless you're into CAD/CAM or games with great graphics demands, it'll do the job for you, and you'll have money left over for some other toy(s).

5Perfect Laptop
By Andre M. Behrens
I remember when the 14" iBook first came out, many in the Mac universe spoke poorly of it. Obviously, it cost more, and while the usual core features had more juice (Hard drive, processor, RAM,) the difference was not overwhelming. The main beef, though, was that the resolution on the 14" iBook is the same as the resolution on the 12" iBook (1024 X 768). The only difference is that, on the 12 incher, those dots are really scrunched in. I've used many of the 12" iBookse I work in IT, especially with Macs, so I've seen it all, and so feel qualified to take a side on this one. The verdict:

It's worth it.

I went to apple.com, and and browsed to a 12" iBook with comperable fatures to the one I recently acquired. The price offered was 1350. I got mine for about 1500, which leaves about 150 to account for. Since other factors are basically equal, the difference is the screen. You want that difference. The 14" iBook feels spacious, a real trick for a lap top. The screen's extra size makes the lower half of the laptop bigger as well, so that there really is room for the keyboard, and a large palm rest. The clean lines of the design really bring out the most in the display, which is bright and clear. If you've never used a laptop, the screen feels bigger, simply because you're usually closer to it. Additionally, LCDs have a larger usable area than a CRT of the same size. As I sit here typing this review, I can tell: You feel this screen's size.

Size does matter, especially with something like a laptop. If you get a smaller screen, you'll inevitably want a larger screen, but then you'll be stuck with an expensive purchase. So put in the extra cash now. If you have the means, treat yourself to 14" iBook. You'll be glad you did.

5Very satisfied with this machine
By M. Woodard
Before I say more let me give a little background, this is my first apple purchase and the first apple computer I have touched since apple II in school many many years ago. I have 5 home desktops each an upgraded pentium beginning with pent II and up to IV. My main desktop is a 1.8 mhz with 100 gig hd, 512ram best video card available and so on. Runs XP. I begin with this as it defines I am not an apple user, or wasn't. I bought this little machine after about 2 months of research, it began as a curiosity and then I have to admit my fustration with windows pushed me to seriously consider it. This is my third laptop. Ok I am VERY happy with this machine, it is the best computer I have had and I have hardly used my big desktop since getting this, it runs circles around my windows system, it is intuitive and everything works the minute you boot up. I have done everything to test this baby out and it will not crash. I love this, and the white finish is really classy. The screen is crisp, clear, it comes loaded with about every program you need. Did I say I love it?? Only one item I wish apple would have done on this model, I love the lit up keyboard in the top of the line power book, come on apple make that standard! Someone complained about the keyboard and I admit it has a different feel but all in all this is a four 1/2 star machine, what would make it five...better speakers, lit up keyboard! BTW I bought the ipod with it and they are the perfect match!

5ibook: sturdier then the G4 notebook
By A Customer
Being in graduate school I see a lot of laptops making there way to and from school. The functionality of the ibook is quite respectable for the price and the 12.1 screen is quite sufficient for school work. But, what is particular nice about the ibook, is its solid construction; built like a little tank! Last semester, 3 fellow students broke their G4 notebooks and those of us with ibooks didn't lose a single one.

5The ultimate computer companion
By Evan Kleiman
As a writer for LowEndMac (http://www.lowendmac.com/), I know my Mac. I've had this comptuer for a few months now and absolutely love it! While it's not my main computer, I use it to take to class and around campus. Paired with an AirPort card it's awesome. For the price, this provides every I'd ever need. The small size is great to take around campus or anywhere, and everyone thinks it's so cute!

5Absolutely spectacular!
By A Customer
First thing I should mention: I bought this laptop at a spectacular sale price. I paid $729 for this machine with 640mb of RAM (maxed out) and an Airport card with it. I highly recommend that you do max it out. I played with the 128mb version of this in Compusa and I noticed it to be significantly slower. When maxed out, this machine will run significantly faster than my 1.67Ghz Windows XP desktop in any task you will throw at it. On top of that, the Mac OS is far superior to anything ever put out by Microsoft. It's stable, easy to use, it just works. I have OS X Panther on this and I highly recommend it. I could never live without Expose, Apples far superior answer to the PC bar at the bottom. For those who are not familiar with it, this new feature in Panther will allow you to push F9 on the keyboard and show every window that is open. It will show exactly what is happening in that window at the moment, meaning that if I were to have a video running on it, the video would play on the tiny window as I look for the window I want. I click the window and it goes back to normal, only with that window on top. VERY USEFUL.Besides that, this machine is very well designed. The ports are on the side, no more reaching behind to plug it in. Its got a thick layer of plastic casing, yet is just over an inch thick. The 12 inch screen is amoung the clearest I've ever seen, and is suprisingly easy to use. The speakers are just okay, but you don't buy a laptop for speakers anyway. The snow colored design is absolutly beautiful, and is a nice plus. The screen is on a solid bar, not one of those flimsy PC hinges. This is the most solidly built, yet lightest, thinnest, most compact laptops I've ever owned or used. I have had several PC laptops before this one, and this is, by far, the best machine I have ever owned.By the way, the battery life on this machine is, to sum it up in one word, unbelievable. I can get about 4 hours of battery life while watching VIDEOS on this, surfing the web I can get upwards of four and a half or more! The low power consumption of the G3 processor makes this an ultra-portable machine. For those who are considering switching. Don't be discouraged by the OS right away. It is something you will need to get used to, but after a few days you will never know how you ever lived without it. I now go back to my PC and just absolutly despise it every second I use it. I have now gotten used to the Mac and enjoy it more than I ever did with my PC. You know what they say, once you've gone Mac, you don't ever go back.

Well, to sum it up, this machine is perfect. I have yet to come across any sort of flaw whatsoever. Mac has thought this thing through, their attention to detail is amazing. Everything down to the little hook that comes out just as you close the lid to lock it shut has been designed perfectly. This isn't something that has just been scrapped together by Dell or something, this is a powerful piece of computing genius that has been designed for people out to make the intelligent choice for their computing needs. If you're stupid, go the ways of the PC world and conform to the ways of Bill Gates If you're smart, buy a Mac, you won't regret it. I guarantee!

5Outstanding headset, no amp required if you have the right phone
By David Burns
I use this headset to conduct interviews. It is very well made and seems like it will be durable. Sound quality and noise isolation are excellent. I find myself grabbing it instead of the handset for ordinary calls because of its clarity.I don't need a separate amplifier because my excellent Polycom Soundpoint Pro SE-220 2-Line Conference Phone has one built-in. I did have to buy an adapter from Hello Direct (Amazon doesn't carry it) to plug it into the 2.5mm jack.At first the headset felt unstable - it adjusts on so many different dimensions and the spring power of the overhead loop is so light that it seemed to want to slip out of position. But I've learned to adjust it so it stays put, and the light pressure makes it very comfortable.

5Love 'em
By D. Rutkowski
I recently returned some 2 defective 2025 NC headsets and now have these (2125 NC) and am very happy that I made the switch. My customers can hear my clearly without having to constantly hold the mic up to my mouth like I did with the 2025NC and I can hear the customers loud and clear as well. The 2125NC has a little bit smaller 'ear-muffs', or whatever you'd like to call them, that I find to be more comfortable. The overall headset is very light and is real comfortable to wear. Definitely happy with this purchase.

4Good business headset
By The Amazon Panda
Really puts you into the phone call. Great for noisy office environments.Downside is the fact you will need a special amplifier or "smart cord" (if using phone that has headset accessory jack) to plug this into your phone. That adds to the cost of an already pricy headset.
