5Fantastic Saw
By Anthony A. Coscia
I purchased this saw today after weeks of shopping around. It seems that all of the contractors I spoke with have the 8 inch Hitachi slider and swear by it. I was looking for a bit more capacity but with the same reliability, accuracy and the advantage of a laser guide. This saw is extremely well made and accurate out of the box. While it has a bit more plastic than it's 8" counterpart it is still made like a tank at less weight than the competition(44lbs I believe). The slide, bevel and miter functions are all smooth and the preset angles are easy to set but not to stiff that they don't allow you to set angles close to the presets without accidentally "clicking" into them when tightenned. The fence seems to be improved over previous models and is a bit higher. It will also flip out for longer workpieces. As for the laser guide, I was skeptical of their accuacy but I couldn't be more wrong. It was dead on out of the box and easily adustable depending on you personal preferences. Some people seem to have complained that the laser line disappears as soon as the blade is lowered, but it is so accurate that it doesn't matter. Once you match your laser to your line, there is no need to follow it through the actual cut.

There is not one flimsey piece on this tool. While not overly heavy, it is very solid. The only drawback to this saw that I can see is the relatively small table area. If however weight and portability is important to you, this could be seen as an advantage. The standard blade is acceptable but the 72 tooth blade that comes as a "bonus" is excellent. Some people have complained about the dust collection. I found it to be adequate but not great. In all fairness, I have never had a tool with a system that was much better. I have heard that the rear rubber blade guard (to aid dust collection) has problems when using a powerful vac. for the collector but I have not tried that yet. If you are looking for a slide compound miter saw with a laser, this is the only one as of now. Compared to other quality 10" sliders, the Hitachi C10-FSH is priced towards the high end of the scale at between $499 and $530 but based on my initial impressions, worth every penny.

5C10FSH: A cut-above the rest!!!...
By brian
I recently purchased this saw, and boy am I impressed! I do tool testing for a large Orange Home Improvement company! I have tested dewalt, bosch, makita, and other hitachi mitre saws. This time Hitachi is a cut-above the rest! They made some worth mentioning improvements over the C10FS. Most notably, they have increased the left / right fence's aluminum thickness; the older version has a problem with fence cracking! The dust collection (how much dust actually goes into the dust bag) of this new saw is nearly double (if not more) than the C10FS.

The dust collection is large and can accomidate a wide range of vacuum systems. Worth mentioning, the vacuum mount (where you attach you vacuum hose) is aluminum, not plastic as in the case of most saws! The rubber thinggy behind the blade does its job well. The flip fence is nice and sturdy; while easy to move out of the way if not needed! Mine did not come with the dust sleeve for the rails (as many have wrote in their reviews here as well).

The only downfall is the laser position! It is accurate and it lets the operator know precisely where the blade will cut, the fine adjustment laser knob works great for tweaking the laser if needed! However, I have noticed that as soon as one starts to cut, the black rubber dust guide (right behind the blade) gets in the way of the laser beam! Meaning that one is able to see the line before you start cutting, but once you start, the line disappears behind the black rubber! I have also noticed that the bevel stops were removed! The C10FS had like 5 bevel stops, now it only has three (90, 45 left / right)!

The saw has incredible smoothness and a nice slide action. The recoil has been reduced immensely; thanks in part the poly v-beld driven motor! One other thing worth noting, like the C10fs and other hitachi's, the left and right fence's are independent of each other! This has always been a hitachi marvel! This little detail allows one to recalibrate the fence easier, rather than the half moon piece of aluminum that usually joins both left / right fences! I have heard cases where (makita, dewalt, and bosch) fences have warped due to the fact that they are one piece!

If anyone is in the market for the most accurate and most consistent saw period, look no further than the C10FSH!!!...

5Awesome!
By S. Giffin
After reading reviews here I was concerned about purchasing this saw. I took the plunge today and went and grabbed it from a local store. My main concern was the accuracy. When adjusted correctly, the saw should cut so that the kerf ends where the laser mark lands. It does exactly that. I used a Starret combo square to mark a 90 cut and lined it up with the laser and sure enough, this thing is dead on. I also used this same sqare the check run out of the laser since some of the reviewers here mentioned it was off 1/64th and the end of the cut. No its not. I set the square on the fence and checked the laser at 2 feet and its less then a 64th at that range.BTW, I own a DeWalt 708 (12 inch slider). This saw is better in every way with exception to slightly less cutting capacity.

5Great machine but Understand the Capacity
By Thomas E. Tweedel
I finally convinced my wife to replace the old but still functional single switch rice cooker I'd owned for about 10 years. I have longed for something with an off switch so rice doesn't burn to the bottom when I forget to unplug it. This guy was the ticket. It seems like a fairly complex machine but its really easy to use once you understand the setup. Its well designed. The pot is easy to clean and the inner lid snaps off for easy cleaning as well.I have to say the rice it produces is some of the best I have had. I did a side by side cookoff with the old and the new rice cookers. The same rice just seemed to have more consistant texture and better strong flavor. Definatley worth the upgrade since we do lots of rice. The one drawback I found is with the somewhat misleading specifications. They say this is a "5 cup" rice cooker. So I'm thinking 5 cups=40oz. Plenty big enough for a family of 4. Well its not quite that much. It seems in Asia (on the metric system) their idea of a cup is a teacup. If you look at the picture and see the two little cups next to the machine, it will hold 5 of THOSE cups. Those cups are approximatley 6oz each. So really it is a 4 (American) cup rice cooker, not 5. Of course 3/4 of a cup is about how much rice you'll eat in a meal so one run of this machine should be able to produce rice for 5. If you need more that that consider the NS-ZAC18 10 cup (8 cup) model. The trick to the machine is to use the little cups that come with it. You measure out a few "cups" of rice and dump it into the pot. Then you add water and fill it up to the graduated mark on the inside of the pot. So if you toss in 2 cups you add water until you hit the 2 cup mark. It has different markings for Brown, White and Sushi rice. Before discovering the proper way of using the smaller "cups" I used a regular 8oz cup on some Jasmine rice (then filled it to the designated level). It still came out way better than my rice cooker. It was firm but not hard and full of flavor. So if you screw up or loose your little "cup" you can still get great rice as long as the stickness is not absolutely critical to the receipe. The manual makes a huge deal out of its ability to handle some "no rinse" rice who's milling technology was proudly developed in Japan. They devote pages to the setting and cooking it, but actually its pretty similar to the regular rice, you just use the green cup instead of the clear cup.All in all this is a great little machine. If you want the best and are willing to pay the bucks this is the one to get. You will not feel your money is wasted.Update:Its now 6 years later and countless batches of rice and this little thing is still going strong. The pot has a few scratches from years of continous daily use but its holding up.We expanded our use of this little gem. I've learned not to think of it as just a rice producing device but as a rice cooker + modified crock pot. My wife started using it to produce porriage and then later soup. She'll pour the ingredients in the night before, set the timer and her breakfast is ready 30 minutes before she wakes up. You can use it for grain soups, porriage, oatmeal and more. We buy packs of Thai flavored rice that say were supposed to cook on the stove. We dump the stuff in and hit go. They come out plenty tastey. There is a quick cooking cycle that we use a lot. Shaves about 20 minutes off the cook time. Flavor suffers a little (though its still great) but when your in a rush...Perhaps the most amazing thing however is what it does to brown rice. As a kid I was never fond of brown rice. Too hard and crunch and I was never that big on bran flavor. We got some brown rice and started cooking it in this thing and it was a whole new world. I don't know how it did it but it came out soft, a little chewey and decent tasting. Brown rice was now something worth eating vs avoiding. So if for whatever reason you are looking to switch to brown rice but not thrilled with the flavor do yourself a favor and get one of these units. It makes it a whole new experience. We haven't tried steaming anything yet. Maybe when our steamer breaks..

5Simply Amazing!
By J. Baldwin
This rice cooker makes the best rice we have ever had - at least since our travels to Southeast Asia. And despite the fact that this machine *seems* smarter than it's user, it is remarkably simple to operate. The instruction book lacks a little bit in terms of recipes and creativity - but it does a good job giving you the basic idea of how to use this machine. This space age looking rice cooker is a little pricey, so it may be overkill for some - but I love all the features this offers and consider it well worth the price (which is a hundred less than what it is offered for here at Amazon). We eat a lot of brown rice, which is not something that other rice cookers handle well. This one has a setting for brown rice, and cooks it to perfection. Also has a setting for semi-brown rice, sushi rice, porridge & more. You get to pick how soft or hard you want the rice to turn out by using the control panel. Being able to set a timer for having rice ready when we get home from work is handy. This thing also cooks complete meals - definitely get a good cookbook for rice cooker cooking :-) We are expirimenting with many varieties of rice that I normally would have shyed away from, since I could not seem to cook even plain old brown rice properly until now.It took me 6 months to decide to buy this thing. We were originally contemplating the MYC10 series, but the specific settings for brown rice became important to us. And this one takes up less space on the countertop than the MYC10. We will be eating rice nearly every day now thanks to this machine! I am definitely glad we chose the ZAC10, and would recommend this product. It's a keeper!UPDATED JUNE 12, 2004: We have now had this rice cooker for nearly a year, and have used it at least 3 times a week. It has held up to regular use quite well, we have not had a single problem with it. If anything, we are eating at home more than ever because of the simplicity of planning meals ahead of time. One thing that we have learned is that the 5 cup capacity is for using the cooker for white rice. Brown rice capacity is about 3 cups. So if you anticipate using this for more than 3 6 oz. cups of dry brown rice, you might consider steppig up to the 10 cup capacity model ZAC18. One tip for making very tasty rice, use a broth instead of water (or 1/2 and 1/2). If you are on fence about this cooker go ahead and take the leap - it is fantastic! No regrets!UPDATED April 18, 2008: Well, the "Brown Rice" setting finally died this week after nearly five (yes FIVE!) faithful years of weekly use. We remain very pleased with this product, and plan to upgrade to the newest model in a 10 cup capacity.

3Battery Replacement
By Bob
For starter I have no complaints about the quality of the rice this machine makes but I am sure there are many other machines that make very good rice in the same price category. I am giving it a mediocre review because of the process and expense you have to go through to change the battery (even though it is only every 4 years or so). You cannot do it. The machine must be taken (or sent at additonal expense) to an authorized dealer who will have to desolder the battery from the circuit board for replacement. The charge for this work is around $20 or more plus $7+ for the battery. This process annoys me because I am sure other rice machines have a simple and inexpensive way to replace the battery (and it must be changed at some point, it won't work without it). Just something to be aware of.

5Once again, Hitachi produces a superior product.
By Ken Hopf
I was in need of another siding gun, and saw the NV75AG just hit the market. Being that I own the siding (4 years use) and framing (8 years use) versions Hitachi makes (both superior products), when it came time to get a second nailer for siding the choice was clear. For several years I have been contempating getting a coil framer. When sheeting walls on the ground I loose considerable time reloading with the stick framer. This gun holds over 225 nails in one coil! And should my stick framer blow a top seal, or sider fail, the NV75AG will allow me to continue. The gun functions flawlessly, with both the depth adjustment on the gun and a non maring tip included. Hitachi includes all allen wrenches and fittings, something other makers should but don't. Only complaints, cost and plastic skirting. Cost, well it takes the place of 2 guns. Skirting, easily removed.

5excellent gun, worth the price
By Z. Blumner
i purchased two of these guns last year and have used them heavily, without any problems. these are great tools. very well designed. light enough for siding all day, compact and very fast for framing, sheathing and subflooring. i don't waste time loading nails every minute. no jam problems. just don't try to load mangled coils, duh.

5Great Nailer, Great Buy
By A Customer
Amazon's Tool Crib shipped on time with no glitches. The 75 nailer is typical of Hitachi's great nailers, and has the versatility to do framing and siding. Mine has gone through about 4000 2" Senco and 3" Bostich nails for fence building without a miss and little sign of wear. Since I only use it once in a while, I'm confident it will last me a lifetime.

5Excellent Firewall Router
By Robert Wurzburg
This is a well-made and competitively priced 4 port firewall router. Coolto the touch, boots in 30-45 seconds. Using Lynksis LNE100TX NIC cards in2 computers, a CNET PRO200WL in a 3rd. All my NIC's are connected 100% at100Mbps. Setup is done using your web browser http://192.168.0.1 and hasmany advanced features to configure your network. WARNING: Under LocalArea connection Status-Properties, Local Area Connection-Properties, In-ternet Protocol (TCP/IP Properties), Advanced block, TCP/IP Filtering, DONOT DO NOT turn on Filtering by checking the box under Options Tab. YOUwill open up this router firewall to ALL traffic, defeating its purpose-to keep hackers OUT blocking them with the TW100-BRF114 hardware firewall.I used my Dell w/XP SP3 IE 7.0 as the 1st machine. It assigns IP addressin sequential order to each device added. After setting up the Dell withthe router, I could not connect to my cable ISP because THEY MUST HAVE anIP address behind the cable modem I installed FIRST. A phone call was allit took, and my router was enabled by the ISP on the cable network.Next was to setup the other 2 PC's on the network, using the Windows net-working tools they have. DISABLE Internet file sharing on each computer,or you are at risk of intrusion. The firewall in the router STOPS COLDevery hack attempt that McAfee blocked on dialup. These no longer show upon my logs, while all wanted traffic passes seamlessly through the routerfor email, browsing, shopping, downloads, uploads, and other daily tasks. Each computer that is setup after the first is registered and enabled onthe network, and I set them to share files and resources like printers toeach other. PC #2 is a Gateway tower w/Windows ME. PC #3 is a Gateway 2000w/Windows 98. Turning computers on and off a pop-up appears informing youof connection status. When the router boots, under the networking icon inthe tray on right, 3 yellow dots move right to left until the pop-up tellsyou your network is connected and the speed.Depowering and powering the router, I do NOT have to turn on or off cablemodem or any computer. Excellent PnP 'hot swap' compatibility. Rock solidstability and real compatibility for most home networks. This is my firstrouter and network installation. Be careful of your settings in the routerand your PC's, and you should have no problems. Everything should work to-gether the way it's supposed to, like my setup.I used Network Diagnostics for Windows XP on the Dell to troubleshoot. Itis a VERY GOOD tool to use if you encounter any problems, and can avoid atech support call, having the info to resolve it yourself in less time.Special thanks to Amazon.com for making TRENDnet products available. I ambuying more, especially after the reviews of other mfrs. by customers whohave nothing but problems with equipment and attempts at tech support.

5Easy setup and running very solidly
By Conor P. Cahill
I have always configured and setup my own firewall using one version of Linux or another. Most recently it has been a Ubuntu server and it has been working like a champ. For an extra layer of security, I decided to place another firewall in front of my Ubuntu firewall and after hunting around selected this firewall.Received it quickly from Amazon. Tested it's operation with a quick setup in front of my desktop and it worked fine, so put it out between my Ubuntu firewall and my ISP.Setup was easy, even for opening the necessary ports that I wanted to enable into my network (they call it "setting up a server" but it's just their nomenclature for opening a port pass-through).My ISP didn't issue an IP address for the router, but that was easily fixed by telling the router to mimic the MAC address of my Ubuntu firewall and poof... everything was working.Since then I've been up 24x7 with 6 laptops, numerous iPhones/Android/iPod devices, and 4 servers running behind it with no problems in connectivity or throughput. Both my and my wife's work VPNs work though the router without any issues.Very happy with the device -- it's exactly what you want in a router: You don't know it's there.

5Works pretty good for me (Just updated it today May 8)
By C. Folger
Bought this and just set it up in about 20 minutes. Pretty easy setup. The main thing is you have to unplug the power to everything (computer, modem, router) before you start everything up. Once you plug all the Ethernet cables in, Then just go to the website listed in the quick installation guide and go through the prompts. Comes with a 5 year warranty. Is metal. I read two reviews on Cnet from people that had trouble, but they must not know some things that are pretty common knowledge if you've been working around computers much - 1. If you have a problem with a computer, turn everything off unplug everything's power, then plug it all back in and restart the computer (once you've had every wire connected right).Next day network was dead, and I realized that I had to again turn everything off (and this time take the battery out of the modem - cuz otherwise it remembers sumthin' it's not supposed to - and then wait a little, put the battery back in). Then plug the power back in and restart the computer. Today everthing worked perfectly (3rd day) - no restart necessary today. This router is supurb - I think personally worth the extra $15 or so to pay for more than some of the other cheaper routers as is made of metal, is relatively small so fits on desk easily and works like a charm. I highly recommend this router.Just added 2nd computer. Had a little trouble as one of my Ethernet cables was bad, but once I replaced that worked perfectly. I'm pretty darn happy with the whole network/2 computer setup now.Just added a 3rd computer. Boy does this thing work well. Got a windows 7 computer (not the most expensive one but a nice one from walmart for fairly cheap), and connected to the network. I shut all the compute3rs down first unplugged. I didn't even take the battery out of the comcast device, whatever its' called this time, if I remember right (though I might not remember being as I have really bad memory and always have, though at least now I can blame it on age (57)). My other two computers are very old windows xp computers, and now they are all connected to the network. This is probably the best router ever, likely. I've had it now for a couple of years, I think.

Arthur Court Monkey Banana Holder with Bowl Product Description:

  • Elegantly crafted with the designer¿s premium signature aluminum alloy
  • Two charming monkeys adorn the top; ideal as a housewarming or shower gift
  • Easy to assemble; simply insert and tighten the two included screws

Product Description

Inspired by their love of the jungle and its inhabitants, Arthur and Elena Court designed this wonderfully whimsical and fabulously functional monkey banana holder. The banana leaf base design, made of Arthur Court's signature premium aluminum alloy, creates a well for the 9 inch frosted glass shallow bowl to sit, displaying your favorite fruit. The handle attaches to the base on one side and curves upward toward a hook to hold bananas while they ripen naturally. A darling family of monkeys climb upward on the handle, seemingly to investigate how the ripening process is coming along. After all, monkeys should know that, unlike most other fruits, the banana actually develops better flavor when picked green and ripened off the bush.

5Exceptional Piece
By Suzanne
It really is worth 5 stars.. when I got it I was impressed that it does look even better than the picture, is very sturdy, and a functional work of art for your kitchen. I almost passed on it because of the price, but I couldn't stand that old plastic one we had that just didn't cut it - didn't look too good and tipped over. So this was an investment, a very functional piece that will be on the counter all the time, and definitely be a conversation piece for guests!! I'll be looking into acquiring more Arthur Court items, excellent quality. One other note, in the photo above, the bananas must be really short because they are very high over the fruit in the bowl, whereas our regular size bananas hang down much lower (don't laugh, I'm really talking about the bananas here!). But the hook is just the right height and I will probably put shelled nuts in the bowl instead of fruit.

5Absolutely amazing!
By Trisha Hammes
This item is very well made; very heavy and doesn't topple over like so many other similar products. One thing not mentioned is that there are small rubber pieces that help hold the bowl in place without being scratched. There are only 2 screws to deal with, so you won't take forever putting it together. So easy and adorable! It is expensive, but so worth it. I even bought one for my hard-to-shop-for Grandparents!

5Great item
By Seven of Nine, Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix 01
Had this for over a year with two small boys. The fruit bowl keeps this from toppling even when my two are climbing up on the counter to get bananas. My children ask for fruit more because I keep it out on the counter and they love getting taking the monkey's bananas. The glass bowl is well protected by the rubber stoppers inside and the metal frame. Mine does not have so much as a chip even with two toddlers being able to reach it on the counter.Expensive but durable.

1Caveat Emptor

I have 4 of these....If you want a small kind of noisy fan in the room with you buy it. It does a mediocre at best job of removing pet odor or cigar smoke. I'd buy a larger air cleaner. Please dont repeat my mistake. You get what you pay for. The unit plugs into the wall and operates with the same noise as any 4 inch fan. It doesnt pull enough air through the filter to be effective.I have a big kenmore that really works well. Its all about moving air through the filter; this one just doesnt seem to pull much through. Thanks and good luck

5Hamilton Beach TrueAir Plug-In Air Cleaner, Two-Pack
By 123Deals
Very cool product... I bought 16 double packs because it was cheaper to just use the unit and the throw it away vs. buying a filter... These are very good though... I've been using them for the past 5 months and I can definately notice a difference in the air quality. They really pick up the dust... Which is what I wanted...

5As for pet odors...
By A. Lowther
I see some people disagree as to the effectiveness of this item to reduce pet odors. I purchase the pet odor reducing filters, specially made for this product, and they are fantastic. I have 5 cats and it's made an enormous improvement- so long as the filter is within 6 feet of the box. I love it. Can't imagine our home without it.
