5Pentax 12.5x50 DCF SP
By The Glass Dude
Great binocular at a great price. I have many different brands and more expensive binoculars over the years and this pair is by far the clearest of them all. I would recommend these binoculars for the majority of us that don't have the budget for a $2000 pair of binoculars.

5Great Binocular
By J. Renner
I have both this and a Zeiss 12x. Besides the slightly higher magnification the Field of view is much bigger. The circle of light you see through the Pentax is huge in comparison. The brightness and image quality are about he same and both are crystal clear. This is about as good as you can do in a 12. Yeah you can spend and extra grand for a 5% better bin but I dont think it's worth it unless you're rich.

5Best pair of Binoculars that I have ever owned
By D. J Stemke
I have owned many binoculars before. Nothing matches this pair. Very bright, water proof, very close focusing, great optical coatings, nice rubber coatings, and EXCELLENT long eye-relief for those of us with glasses. Nice idea haveing the rear lens cups attached. As a naturalist I find the birds I see just seem to pop out. And the binoculars look great too. I purchased these at this site although the actual dealer was Adorama. Adorama's price was almost $200 less than anywhere elses's and they shipped very fast.Unless you want to spend another $600 more on a pair of binoculars I really can't see why you need to look any further. Most people will sctach their heads why your birding binoculars are Pentax instead of Nikon or Leica, that is until they try them.Like all optics yuo'll want to try them out first, but I think this is a really great pair to put on your short list.

5The Pentax DCF binoculars are fantastic!
By J. C. Tierney
These binoculars are very clear and "bright." It is amzing how well they work in low light. We used them on a trip with our son who has $1200 Leica binoculars and they were very nearly interchangeable.

5Great binoculars.
By J. Eiger
I finally purchased a quality pair of binoculars after decades of using lower priced models. I did lot of research and chose the Pentax 10x43. The image is truly superb. Much better than I expected. Lightweight, rugged, fast focus, and a pleasure to use. I really like the diopter adjuster with lock mechanism; the nonlockable version was always rotating out of adjustment. The extra-short minimum focusing distance is a must bird watching. Highly recommend these.

5Best available birding binocular for the price
By Sharon Moskowitz
I love, love, love this binocular. It's waterproof, fogproof, rugged, well-balanced, and easy to handle (I can hold it one-handed and still adjust the focus easily). I'm rough on equipment, but haven't managed to do any damage to it despite constant use under some pretty yucky conditions (tossing in the car, taking out in heavy rainstorms, dangling from the backpack on hikes, etc.)No problem with or without glasses--the eyecups have nice, firm intermediate settings between the plain "in" and "out" options of most binoculars. The image quality is fantastic, even in dim dusk or dawn light. IMO, you can't do better in roof prism binoculars until you get up into the megabuck Swarovski range, and even given the slight image quality improvement (for two or three times the price), I'd still prefer the Pentax DCF for its handling and quick focus.

5Great, versatile binoculars for the price
By MadScience
I bought these as a backup pair to keep in the car. I've been birding for 20+ years and have other much more expensive bins.Positives: lightweight, quick & easy focus, feel great in the hand, good color, sharp image, bright, reasonably close focus (I use these for butterflies), sturdy, weatherproof.Negatives: some edge effects (little halos of color on lower edge of distant objects, like hawks) that I don't get in my $1600 bins. FOV a little bit narrow. If there are better bins at this price I'd be amazed. I bird with these about 90% of the time now, and actually prefer them for long trips because they are so lightweight. I can use them for 8 hours at a hawkwatch without fatigue.

5AWESOME BINOCS!
By Stacey
I heard about these particular binoculars from my paddle guide in Thailand. I could see Great Horned Bills better out of these than through my cajillion dollar camera lens. They brighten everything up so you can easily find birds etc.. Great pair, esp. for the price.

5Excellent mid-priced binocular
By R. Hiscock
My Pentax DCF SP 8x32 binoculars were purchased 3 years ago for squeezing in birding while on business trips. Over time, I began to carry them in favor of my other binoculars due to their great optics, close focus (for butterflies) and refined focus. These binoculars have not been coddled, having endured punishing hikes in extremes of weather. In comparison to Zeiss Victory FL 8x42 bins, the Pentax came a tad short in brightness, but otherwise, I can detect little difference, except the extra $2000 list price. One reviewer complained of chromatic aberration in some light settings. Since I have never experienced that condition with my Pentax bins, even when trying to force the problem, I believe his may be slightly out of alignment. If there's any criticism of the DCF SPs, it would be a middling depth of field. This shortcoming is mitigated by the SPs smooth focusing and not special to these binoculars. My 20 year old Nikon8X porros set a bar in this area that no 8X roof has approached.Great durability, excellent optics, light weight and compact, the Pentax SPs provide a combination hard, to beat at a reasonable cost. You may be able to buy a better in this price range, but you're more likely to purchase an lesser binocular.

5BEST value in a birding binocular under $1200; bar none
By Ted Henricks
BEST value in a birding binocular under $1200; bar noneStrong opinion, but I have owned Leica 8x42 Trinovids, Nikon 8x32 LXL Premiers, these Pentax DCF SP's (previously), Leica and Nikon 8x20's, half a dozen other low-end binocs, currently own Nikon 8x32 EDG's, and, without spending another $1000 or more, you simply cannot get a better value in a birding binocular.Great size; not too big or too smallPerfect power (8x32)Nice weight; not too heavyRubber armouredAttached objective coversReally, really awesome optics for the moneyInexpensive enough you won't worry about making the house paymentGreat eye-reliefGreat adjustable ocular cupsVery, very comfortableIncredible value (I paid at least 50% more from Amazon several years ago, and then sold them for the current new price!)I have birded off and on for years, and have come to a few conclusions after owning so many different kinds or optics. 42mm objectives are too heavy and bulky 99% of the time. 32mm is the perfect size, other than traveling ultra-lite. 10x is really too much; 8x allows your eyes to work at their best. Attached front objective covers are invaluable; these have them. Rubber armour is invaluable; these have them. Nitrogen purging and water-proofing; again, invaluable. These are. ED-class glass is great, but easily doubles the cost of a pair of binoculars. 90-95% of the time, you won't notice. What good is a $1300 pair of binocs if you are so concerned about loss that you leave locked up except for special trips? These are such a super value I carry them almost everywhere. Are there better optics? Sure; but again you have to double your money, and you won't get double the optic. Side-by-side, there is absolutely a noticable and pleasing difference between these and either of my Nikon 8x32's. Unless you are directly comparing them though, you'd never miss the improvements. If I had to choose between field-of-view and ED glass; I'd take the FOV. These Pentax have a narrower FOV than the super-premium binocs, but again, unless you do a side-by-side comparison, you will never miss it.Your friends with super-premiums will drool over the value vs. performance that these are. Your friends with $150 binocs will think you took out a loan to get these.I mentioned above I currently own a pair of Nikon EDG 8x32. The fact that again I am purchasing the Pentax DCF SP's should speak volumes. These are the only pair I absolutely regret selling previoulsy.Buy them! You will NOT regret it!

4Great set of binoculars for the money
By S. Kreamer
I've owned the DCF SP 8x32's for 2 years now and I'm very happy with them. These are perfect for the casual birdwatcher (like myself) since you don't have to spend a fortune for a great quality image. I've used these all over the world and they have been great for 99% of what I've used them for.For those perfectionists out there, I have noticed that they exibit chromatic aberration in some light settings. I have to give credit to Leica as my wife's Trinovid 8x32's certainly performed better in those settings. Also, this set of binoculars is heavier than its more expensive competition. If you don't want to pay through the nose for a nice set of Leica's or Swarovski's, you should certainly consider the Pentax DCF SP.

3Great sculpt, flimsy and unbalanced design
By B. BROWN
As a 3-D implementation of Alex Ross' magnificent artwork, these figures are near flawless. As posable "action" figures, they leave a lot to be desired. There is not much articulation at all on Hawkman and the avian forward-leaning stance makes it nigh impossible to even just pose this figure without it falling forward, but as has been pointed out, if you pull the wings all the way back it will work. I tried to see if the legs would move forward a bit and the left foot/talon snapped off right in my hand! I superglued it back, but still, some less brittle plastic would have made this a more durable figure.

5A balancing act
By A Customer
Say hello to Northwind - that's this guy's real handle... No, this isn't a mutated Carter Hall, it's an entirely different character. I guess at some point Carter chose to pass the torch...

Anyway. The figure has more detail that you can throw a mace at, including a non-removable amulet on a VERY FRAGILE CHAIN!! Careful with the spear too - it is flexible enough to withstand SOME abuse, but bend it too far and it'll snap.

Standing this guy up is a challenge. He leans forward a lot (as a bird should, I guess). The only parts of him that articulate are wings, neck and shoulders... and the wings are HEAVY. You will have to position them "just so" in order to counterbalance the forward lean of the figure. After that he stands up just fine... AS LONG AS the wings are in the same position. Definitely a display piece (just like the rest of KC figures), and a very good one.

5National NC-ER22NW 2.3-Quart Electric Thermo Pot
By A Customer
Very nice. I stayed at a hotel in Japan that had one of these in my room. It was nice to be able to brew fresh tea or coffee anytime I wanted since this pot keeps water at the perfect temperature as long as it is plugged in (which was all the time at the hotel). If you are a coffee or tea snob, you know the importance of having the right temperature water. I could make a cup at a time or more. This model is perfect if one or two people will be sharing it. I'd recommend the larger size if three or more will use it. The push button dispenser means you never have to tip the unit or anything like that...just hold your cup under the spout and push the button.

I haven't had it long so I can't speak to its reliability but it is easy to use and clean.

5Great for making tea
By A Customer
I have the 3.0 liter version of this for about a month. It is great for making tea, hot chocolate, or ramen noodle. A full pot will reach 208F in about 20 minutes. The timer function is also useful; activate it before going to bed and you will have hot water for making tea in the morning. The electric dispenser is nice, but you won't be able to dispense water if the pot is not plugged in.

4Very good but ...
By Vladimir Hristov
I like this pot a lot.It does the job greatly and such a pot should be considered for buying by any serious tea drinker. The only drawback is that it does not isolate the hot water very well which results in a loss of temperature from its walls.During winter this does not matter at all given the fact that we heat our home anyway but during summer it causes the opposite effect which results in overconsumption of electricity (it heats the kitchen & I cool it down with my A/C).Great product anyway ...

5Great Meat Grinder
By Reading Bear
We are originally from Eastern Europe and meat is a huge part of our diet. Initially we used hand powered meat grinder and when I say use I mean on a weekly basis. Finally we got tired of it and decided to upgrade our kitchen equipment. We tried 4 different electric meat grinders before we got to this one from Krups to Kitchen Aid but they all had problems till we got to this one. Then finally we got this one and o boy it was great. We use it on a weekly basis and it holds its own against any meat we through into it. Cleaning is a snap and the whole experience is awesome.Several points to consider when buying electric meat grinder:1) Anything less than 550 watts will get clogged by meat fibers.2) If blades are not Stainless still they WILL rust.3) This machine has all the attachments you'll ever need in a meat grinders and they are great quality and will last you a lifetime without rustingP.S. This machine is so good we bought one for my mother and most importantly one for my mother-in-law and they both love it.

5National MK-G20NR Meat Grinder, Nation Brand
By Jim Nguyen
I ordered this grinder on 12/15/03 and it came on 12/22/03 with free ground shipping. Today,12/28/03, I started to use it the first time, it's perfect, I have no complain to this machine. This grinder was made from Japan. I thinked if you want to use it the first time you have to clean it properly before using if not the food will stick into it. I mixed shrimps, beefs and porks. It run perfect. Don't hesitate to buy this grinder. To generate some different food in the family you have to have one. I strongly recommend this machine. It's very good, the motor is strong enough to grind any food.My wife like it so much.Thank to Amazon.com
