5Best bang for you buck
By Michael T. Kemp
After many hours on the internet I came across a speaker I had not seen or heard of in years. Yes the B.I.C. line of speakers. I knew that years ago, after hearing these, I was really impressed with them. So after a little research I decided to give them a try. I got the center channel and two of the bookself speakers, which were to replace a set of Bose speakers. When these speakers can in I was impressed by the quality of them at this price range. I connected the speakers up to my system (Rotel Processor and Parasond Amp). At first I was a little disapointed with the sound but I knew that they needed to burn in for a while. I left my system playing for three or four days non stop and the speakers started to come to life. I have had over the years a few diffrent speaks ( Ohms, Jbl, Cerwin Vega, DCM, and the way overrated Bose) I belive these to be the best sounding of them all. I will soon buy two more DV-62CLRS and use them for my front spearkers and delegate the DV-62SI's to the rear for surround sound. I have to say that for the price you will be hard pressed to find better sounding speakers. Heck, for double the price even.

5Wonderful - so much sound quality for such a small price
By Andrew Matt
It's easy for anyone to appreciate the quality of sounds which the BIC speakers produce. 10 years ago, I bought my first set and it brought be 10-years of listening enjoyment. Recently, the original center speaker started to sound "tinny" and I knew it was time to get something new. (Hey, after 10 years - I am pleased with the quality and duration.) So, i replaced my 10-year old DV52CLR with a new DV62CLR-S. I am so happy I did. Wow! Originally, I went looking at local TV store. All they had was Polk Audio for center speakers. As I listned, I could not feel a sense of appreciation for what I heared - it seemed empty. I was anoyed by the $200+ to $400+ prices they were asking. I did the research and afterwards I though this center speaker for around $100 was an incredible value. (Given the size, range and sound.) I have no idea why more TV / Home Theatre stores are not carrying BIC. BIC quality can certainly compete against what they are carrying and the price will certain attract the people. Thanks to Amazon for carrying these. Thanks to BIC for making these. Also - i have a Denon AVR 4802 with 7.1 THX and the speakers really help bring it to live.

5Great Speaker !!
By TV Bug
I replaced the Yamaha center channel speaker with this BIC DV-62CLR-S center channel speaker and the difference was dramatic. It is a great sounding speaker with exceptional clarity and has dual drivers which lends to an awesome sound.Anyone who has an all-in-one Home Theater system should get this speaker as a center channel because the supplied speakers are of inferior quality.Forget the well known branded speakers, this on beats them hands down. It has a genuine wooden enclosure unlike the particle board in others. It is also much bigger in size, so make sure it will fit your stand !!

5Very Impressive
By anonymoose
I bought this V-80 to complement a pair of Athena B1.2 (great little speakers) in a small home theatre setup. I was not expecting much more than a subtle improvement. Wow, was I shocked...tight and clean bass, very musical, louder and lower than I had hoped, set at well less than its max output. With crossover control set to about 80hz it blends perfectly with the Athenas.I have very high standards when it comes to subwoofers, using an HSU VTF-2 for my main music system. I cannot stand boomy, non-musical subs. The Bic V-80 is not boomy, plays tight and fast and musical and is excellent for a small room. Highly recommended.

1Great, but unreliable
By Justin Pugh
I purchased this subwoofer on May 24, 2011 to compliment my 2.0 set of Swan D1010MKii speakers. It was a great pairing, and the subwoofer's auto-on feature worked well. I was able to adjust the crossover point as well as intensity/volume. It definitely gets powerful at its highest setting, enough to overpower my relatively small D1010MKii speakers. If it wasn't for what I'm about to write, I'd give this sub a solid 5 stars. However, on March 9th, 2012, the sub started emitting loud buzzing sounds, in varying intensity and tone. This persisted even after disconnecting the audio cable. Attempts to turn the sub off by switching the switch to "OFF" did not work. An electrical burning smell came from the subwoofer. I'm away at college from August until May, except for short breaks... so the total amount of time I've had with this sub (and have used it) is about 5 months. And, this subwoofer is plugged into an Uninterruptible Power Supply, specifically for power conditioning (not for battery backup), along with my other computer equipment.. so it's unlikely that an electrical surge damaged this sub.I could forgive the random failure, though... and it normally wouldn't affect my rating, because failures happen. However, I attempted to contact BIC America to see if they would replace the sub, as there is a warranty of 1 year on the electrical components. However, my e-mail did not get a response after two business days. Also, I attempted to call their technical support phone number, but got no answer. In desperation, I tried calling the SALES number, still no response. These calls were placed during the specified business hours. So, as much as I enjoyed this sub, it's now a $100 piece of wood sitting in the corner of my room, and BIC America doesn't seem to care. I had never heard of the brand, but I put faith in them. Now I regret not buying a comparable Polk Audio subwoofer, which is a more widely known and reputable brand.=== UPDATE 03/15/12 ===I was finally able to get in touch with their technical support on 3/14/12. The person I spoke with was very nice, and said he would send me e-mail instructions on how to get my subwoofer fixed under warranty. I did not receive the e-mail until today, 03/15/12. The e-mail instructs me to TAKE APART THE SUBWOOFER MYSELF, remove the amplifier, and ship it to them for repair via UPS or FedEx. Shipping charges are not covered. If you ask me, they should just send me a brand new subwoofer, ask me to put my old one in the box, and send it back.. although I suppose shipping would be expensive. Let's see how long it takes to get back...=== UPDATE 03/16/12 ===I've just shipped the subwoofer to BIC America ... it cost $15 to ship it via UPS Ground from my town in NY to Anaheim, CA where BIC America is. Overall, I have a very sour taste in my mouth from all of this... First, it took forever (3 days) to get in touch with their technical support. Second, I have to cover shipping charges on a product that failed within the first year with minimal use. Third, I had to take the subwoofer apart myself to get the amplifier out to send it to them. They are supposedly repairing it and sending it back. Sure, the repair is free of charge... but what if it happens again? Do I wait another three days to get in touch with them, take the subwoofer apart again, spend the $15 to ship it to them for repair? If you ask me, skip right over this subwoofer... go for a reputable brand, one that won't take three days to get in contact with, and won't make you take your own subwoofer apart.=== UPDATE 04/16/2012 ===UPS Tracking shows that BIC America received my subwoofer on March 26th, 2012. I have yet to receive any word from BIC America that they received my subwoofer, or that it's been shipped back to me. I called their warranty/tech support department, and was told that the delay is because of the "holiday weekend" (Easter). They aren't even open on the weekend, so I fail to see what difference that makes. He said it takes 10-15 days to repair. They've had it for 15 business days - I haven't heard a word from them. The guy on the phone is the same guy that I called to request warranty replacement, so they must be a fairly small business ... and apparently, they don't care very much about your business. I've now been without my subwoofer for a little over a month. This wouldn't be that a big deal if the customer service wasn't total garbage.=== Final Update 4/19/2012 ===Incidentally enough, I got home on the 16th to find the replacement/repaired part from BIC America waiting for me. I installed it in the subwoofer, and gave it a test... everything seemed to be fine. The replacement part didn't look any different.. and I can only hope that mine failed just as a random chance, rather than due to a defect. The subwoofer is working great now, and I hope I don't have to deal with their warranty again. All in all, I was without my subwoofer for over a month... and it took them 3 weeks to get the part back to me after they received it. Again, is it a good subwoofer? Yeah, I love it. I just hope you don't have to deal with their RMA process.=== UPDATE 6/11/2012 ===On 6/10/2012, I was about to watch a movie. The beginning intros were playing, when the subwoofer started making a rattling sound. After checking it inside and out for any objects that could be causing it, I isolated the sound to the woofer itself. I called BIC America, and this time, I was able to get an answer on the first call. We determined over the phone that the woofer is bad, and again, I'll have to send it to them (at my cost) to have it replaced. Maybe I have bad luck... but I certainly haven't abused it. Most of the time it's on 1/2 volume or less, and it's powered by a computer sound card... in any case, another failed part. I'm almost worried that the wooden box itself is just going to come unglued.

Very well built and great sounding bass, fills my 12x16 room with adjustable level and crossover frequency. The on-auto-off is very convenient. I would highly recommend this Made in America speaker for camparatively rated HT systems.

5Great Old Time Speakers
By Ambergris
I have owned a pair of these Bics for over 5 years now and still continue to be in awe of them for the price I paid, ($90 a piece at the time). These speakers are a throwback to a time when the quality of a speaker was measured in how big and impressive it was in reproducing sound as close to a level of real life as possible. No downsizing going on here folks. These babies are open for business when placed in your room and need the space to do it. I refer to these speakers as old time for they have not been suckered in by the new fangled dwarfism that is prevalent in speaker systems these days. Somewhere in the late 80s most speaker manufacturers decided that people were more interested in speakers being heard than seen. So they greatly reduced their dimensions by separating the woofer by frequency and gave you two smaller ones and calling it better. The true audio enthusiast was never fooled. One 12" woofer can beat the time of two 6" imitations any time. And there has never been anything before or since that matches the pure earth shaking bass power of a 15" woofer. (To my knowledge the largest woofer ever offered in home speakers at any time). These bics have a 15" monster woofer that will leave your jaw agape. Though it is true that at times the protection system can kick in a little unexpectedly and cut your bass off, in all honesty it takes one hell of a walloping amount of volume versus bass to do them in. And be thankful for that in any event. In the old days when speakers this size and power were prevalent, protection circuits were something offered up in only very high end equipment, or not at all. Your woofer just sizzled and went silent during some heavy use and that was all she wrote 'till you installed a new one. Turning off your music even for a couple of seconds is enough to have you back in business with these bad boys. Appearance wise these speakers are very attractive for something that will take up so much of your floor, and very quality built. The grill material is very thick, and the cabinet is not some kind of ugly resin like a pair of Kerwin Vegas I owned, but 100% hard wood. Stained black to match anything.Overall these speakers sound as crisp and clean from the treble all the way down below as any I have ever heard. And trust me, I have been around this stuff for a long time. Don't be fooled by the book shelf systems and such that are small and expensive but promise big sound. If you are one to demand big sound over being stylish, these speakers are made for you...

5Great sound and bass
By G. Moore
I have had these for 4 months and they are excellent in sound reproduction, the 15 inch bass woofer, produces nice bass, and most the time i dont even have to use my subwoofer at all. Very well constructed. Be sure to uderstand that the price is for only one speaker, Amazon shows a pair, but that price is for each one, not a pair, but still its a excellant buy, compared to higher name brands. Only con is that try to find a online store that uses Fed Ex, I had one speaker shipped by UPS and the carton was tore, and the top of the speaker had lite damage. The other speaker I bought to match I had shipped by Fed EX with no damage.Trick is to find a closer vender to you with less freight handling from mulitple trucks. Happy listening. You will be very happy.

5Love These Speakers!!!!!!
By Monty Smith
I have an older amplifier that doesn't have a subwoofer output. I couldn't find any speakers locally that had 15" woofers like my orginal sonys (and sony doesn't make them any more). I did find some speakers with 12" woofers but they were cheap and I blew the midranges in 2 days.Took a chance on these and have no regrets. The midranges and the tweeters are crisp and clear and the bass rocks the house. I love them so much that I have 4 of them for my right and left front channels. There is also protection built in to prevent damage when I get too wild.

5Awesome Speakers!
By Music Man
I bought these speakers initially for upgrading my 5.1 home theater system to 7.1 especially for their power handling, bass response level and past experience with BIC America products. My room wasn't the right layout for these speakers, so I immediately decided to use them outdoors to replace my worn Bose 151s on the deck. A quick swap of the grilles to the outdoor set included and they were in business. These Adatto DV52si completely blow away the Bose 151. Superb dynamic range from high to low. We're talking WOW! Even though the speakers are mounted on the house, the base shook my deck. You simply cannot buy better outdoor speakers at any price or overhyped brand!UPDATE:Its now five years later since (2006 - 2011) I first purchased these speakers and I just bought another pair to replace the originals that have served us well outdoors on the patio & deck. These speakers while never directly exposed to rain and snow, have endured high humidity, temperatures into the 100s and extreme cold including days of of sub-zero temperatures. I haven't seen any direct wear or damage on the speaker cones of the originals, but I do note some slight distortion now when I crank them up. Low volume still fine. Thus the new pair. I'm keeping the old ones and will test them out on equipment indoors. Before buying these again, I reconsidered Bose outdoor speakers, along with JBLs, Infinity, Polk and Klipsh and Yamaha. We can afford any of these, but the purpose of buying speakers is for their sound. I'm sorry but none of those brands, while appearing to have higher sales volume, actually out perform these BICs in sound quality. It's important to have reasonable expectations of what you'll get from a speaker designed for outdoor use. Most come in very small enclosures and you can only get so much bass from these types of units. That said, the bass on these relative to the other brands and sizes is very impressive. Check out the ratings of all these outdoor speakers at Best Buy.com in addition to Amazon. Note the shortfalls of all the other brands, then compare to these.Just hooked up the replacement pair and they handle all types of music throughout the volume range without distortion, just as the originals did as new. In my book these continue to be the best option and value on the market for outdoor speakers. I notice that others on Amazon think so too. These are the only outdoor speakers that have 100% 5-star ratings.Noted the warranty on these as well. 7 years for indoor use (Better than Bose), and 2 years for outdoor use. Most brands except Bose have 1 year warranties for outdoor use. Think about it... the original pair lasted for the duration of the Bose warranty and exceeded BIC's by three. They sound better than the other options and the combined price for the originals and the replacements 5 years later are still less than half the price of Bose's cheapest outdoor speakers.

5Great sound,great price!
By William Bacigalupi
Bought these speakers for outside based on several reviews from Amazon and ecoustic. I have them connected to a Onkyo Tx-sr705(also bought from Amazon) and set to zone2. I bought a pair of inexpensive swivel mounts from Frys,no need to buy the overpriced ones. They sound great for their size and can handle the power easily. Don't let their price fool you, you are getting great speakers at half the price of other "name brand" speakers.

5solid Lego toy
By H. Metz
my kid went to a Lego camp where they used these, and he loved the camp. So I went and bought all 4 versions of it (they're out of production already for a while, but you can get them from new to damaged for okay money), and he now plays with them every now and then. I wish Lego would move more into a compatible sub-components direction, where you could use for instance these spybot motorblocks and the remote inside a Technic series car or the like - that would be great. But of course, it would mean less money for Lego, so I can see why they're not doing it. and in the end, there'd always be the option to build something all your own with those parts...

5A little different from the film version, but I'm perfectly fine with that.
By ManWithGoodTasteSays:
I was given this set as a gift about 7 years ago, and I still have it. And now, I decided to write a review of sorts.Let's start with the obvious: this Lego version of the original Slave 1 (named by Jango himself... small SW fact) is different from the ship you saw in Episode 2; not TOO much however :) The nose is shorter, and the wings (are they wings?) lower, placed at the middle of the ship, when in "flying" position. The engines also look different. But the differences end there; it is still quite similar to the film counterpart. Now to what this ship has and does... It can drop bombs from the back, the bottom guns are moveable, there are two machine guns that come out from the sides, the nose hides rockets (which you fire with your imagination :) The ship holds a container (put stuff in it!) in the middle (right under the pilot seat) for... some reason. But its true purpose is holding the pilot seat in place, and removing the container will make the seat and wing's rotation a bit off. But it is unlikely you will want to remove it anyway. It will take someone x-perienced about half an hour to build this, but any child over 7 could do it as well (just not as fast). The ship is FAIRLY durable and holds together more or less, but, I should remind you, that most of the bigger Lego SW sets are not for active playing. Be careful with the model; it needs your love to remain in your collection for many years. Are you a child who wants a kool Lego SW ship? Or are you a Lego fan or a collector? A fan of both Lego and Star Wars ships?? Either way, this set is a nice purchase, just make sure you find an affordable copy (since it is a rather old set).P.S. Jango and Boba both look very nice, no complaints there.

4Ideal Addition to any System
By P. McGrath
I picked up the Sony 8" (SA-WM250 100-Watt) Active Subwoofer recently, and it's quite nice (especially the price at under $100.00). But this smaller system can't hold a candle to the Yahama. This 10" system pumps out clean, crisp base and its cut-off option allows the user to limit the higher frequency response of the sub-woofer (and let your mid-range speakers do the job). The result - a pretty massive, well defined bottom that can be as subtle or as "in your face" as you like it and which will nicely compliment just about any existing audio/visual system.Because I use a pair of smaller AAD speakers, I keep the volume level for the subwoofer at below 50%, but the frequency cut-off a bit higher (110 hz out of max 140hz) for a nicely balanced, very full sound. Another nice feature is a bass button selection for either (i) music, or (ii) movies. The latter provides maximum bass response - suitable for achieving something similar to what you get in movie theatres - the rumbling bass that lodges in your stomach. The former, music option, is ideal and very complimentary to my existing stereo arrangement. If you're unhappy with the response of your shelf speakers (want more oomph?), you'll love this Yamaha subwoofer. It'll add depth to your existing system, and add real luster to your audio-video setup. I recently re-watched "The Two Towers" on DVD using the Yahama - the experience was truly like a return to the theatre.

Although I have purchased subs from different manufacturers in the past, I have found that Yamaha subs give the biggest bang (or thump) for the buck. The YST-SW315 is a perfect example of Yamaha's ability to deliver serious bass frequencies from a rather simple, low cost device.I purchased the YST-SW315 for my home office, to provide extra depth for the surround system that I have connected to my computer and other A/V equipment. The SW315 subwoofer sits on the floor, hidden below a corner desk unit. This sub enclosure measures 13-3/4" (W) x 16-15/16" (H) x 15-1/16" (D), and weighs roughly 42 lbs. Although it's not extremely small, this sub really doesn't take up that much room. It is a fairly square shaped box with a flat surface, so you can always sit something on top of it if you desire. I have the sub hooked to my surround receiver via the line level inputs. However, there are also speaker level inputs and outputs, for those that wish to connect the subwoofer inline, between their stereo amplifier and stereo speakers. It is magnetically shielded, so this subwoofer can be placed next to anything without worry of magnetic interference from the speaker itself. The YST-SW315 subwoofer utilizes two technologies that are unique to Yamaha.* Advanced YST - Advanced Yamaha Active Servo Technology is a unique system in which the speaker and amplifier work together to cancel out impedance so the speaker unit has a perfectly linear motion. Advanced YST helps to ensure the highest levels of sound pressure and overall performance.* QD-Bass Technology - Quatre Dispersion Bass technology uses down-firing drivers with square, pyramid-shaped reflective plates to radiate the sound efficiently in four horizontal directions. The reflective plates negate any effects caused by the floor surface and reduce resonance between sound waves reflected from the floor and the unit.I don't know much about Advanced YST and QD-Bass Technology, but I do know this subwoofer sounds great. Although relatively small, this little speaker box packs quite a punch, and fills the room with deep sound that you can feel as well as hear. I use this subwoofer for a combination of listening to music, for computer game play and for watching movies. There is a button, on the subwoofer control panel, that lets you select "Movie" or "Music" mode. There is a noticeable sound difference between the two modes, so a user would definitely want to utilize this button when switching between watching movies and listening to music. The control panel, which is located on the front side of the subwoofer cube, also contains a volume knob, an auto standby (on/off) switch, a high cut filter (on/off) switch, and a high cut filter adjustment knob. The auto standby feature is very handy, as it allows the subwoofer to power itself up when it receives sound and goes into standby (sleep) mode when no sound is present after about 5 minutes. Power consumption, while in standby mode, is only 0.5 watts, so I personally love the convenience and energy efficiency of the auto standby feature. If you prefer to power the subwoofer on and off manually, the main power switch is located on the back of the unit, rather than on the control panel itself. Next to the on/off power switch is also a Phase Control switch, so you can select whether you want the sub to work in normal or reverse phase. I will not go into what phase changing does to the sound, but audiophiles will understand that reversing the phase would be the same as reversing the positive and negative wire connections on the back of a loudspeaker. It simply changes whether the speaker cone moves inward or outward to produce sound waves. The high cut filter adjustment control works very well, allowing you to determine the high-end frequency cutoff of the speaker. Obviously a subwoofer is meant to produce very low frequency sounds, so being able to cut out somewhat higher frequencies can produce much cleaner, punchier bass sound. This control allows you to customize the bass sound, to best match the speakers that you have producing the higher frequencies. When set correctly you should experience a full bodied sound, without any dropouts in the frequency range between the main speakers and the subwoofer. Here are some technical specs of the YST-SW315:* Advanced YST Technology* QD Bass Technology* High Efficiency Power Amplifier: 250-watts nominal / 270-watts dynamic power* Multi-Range Driver: 10" Cone* Magnetic Shielding* Phase Control Switch: Normal or Reverse* High Cut Filter: 40 - 140 Hz* Auto Standby* Bass Action Selector System: Movie Mode or Music Mode* Inputs: Line-level in (RCA phono x 2), Speaker-level in (heavy-duty post x 2)* Outputs: Speaker-level pass-through (heavy-duty post x 2)* Frequency Response: 20 - 160 Hz (-10 dB)* Power Consumption: 80-Watts (operation) / 0.5-Watts (stand-by)* Warranty: 2 years (parts & labor)Overall I have been extremely pleased with the Yamaha YST-SW315 subwoofer. The flat-black cabinet fits in well with most of today's stereo equipment, and this model is also available in silver and glossy piano-black finishes as well. It is small enough to hide behind a piece of furniture but looks good enough to leave out in plain view. There is an air outlet port on one side, so you will want to make sure to place the cabinet in an area where the air can escape without restriction, otherwise the sound will be affected in a negative way. A few inches of clearance should prove adequate for the air to move freely. The speaker cone itself is located on the bottom of the cabinet, which fires down toward the floor and therefore doesn't require any special clearance. The bass produced by the YST-SW315 subwoofer is very solid and punchy, and gives very little audible distortion at even high volume levels. I feel that this subwoofer is excellent for a mid-sized family room or living room, but may not be well suited for an extremely large room, unless you added a second subwoofer (one for each channel - left & right). My home office measures roughly 16' x 18', and this subwoofer is able to fill that room with gut-rumbling bass very well. I leave the SW315 in auto standby mode at all times, as I find this feature to work very well. It should be noted, however, that there is about a 6-second delay before the subwoofer begins working, after it receives a signal from your audio source. This may prove annoying for those that use the subwoofer for music. But for movie watching it really isn't an issue since the sub only misses the first few seconds of the opening music score (usually a movie preview that comes on before the actual movie begins).Although I cannot guarantee that this subwoofer will prove to be perfection for every consumer, I honestly cannot find one fault in this device. I have pushed this speaker pretty hard in the past, and I have yet to notice any serious distortion or the typical overpowering boomy sound that many subs produce. The YST-SW315 produces clean, punchy bass at just about any volume level, and when adjusted correctly will not overpower the rest of your audio. It has a powerful built-in amplifier and looks, feels, and sounds very well made. Since this subwoofer has exceeded my expectations, and is an incredible value for the price, I am giving the Yamaha YST-SW315 10-inch Digital Pro Series Subwoofer 5-stars. I highly recommend it for anyone that is looking to add solid low-end frequencies to their stereo or home theater audio system.

Maybe I'm bias because I really like Yamaha, maybe, because I have kinda' good ears or, it's the fat check sitting on my table from Yamaha; but what ever it is I realllllllly like this sub-woofer. I looked around a long time for the right sub, and, I like to think I got a good one here. You want power? Ok, it's only 250 watts -not 1,000 watts like Velodyne, but in my room (30 by 18ish with a 25 foot ceiling) it ROCKS.I love music, all kinds; loud or quiet no matter I like both, but I do like depth more than volume. However, I believe if you are going to listen to something real loud, being able to feel the music is as important as being able to here it.And let me say you can FEEL music if you want to. one of the things I love most about this sub is it's range; it can (maybe) reach 20 hertz. 20 hertz! that is astounding.20Hz is the lowest frequency the human ear can hear, in fact it's starting into the range of sounds that are felt more than heard.Maybe I have good ears and maybe I don't, but to hear rich airy low-end, and, bass notes. yes! bass NOTES! bass is not one big boomy lump of noise, it's huge, open, grazing pasture of distinct sounds! In short, music sounds great, even hip-hop (which I don't like) sounds, well, better. Also, their is no need to turn the volume way up to hear a improvement; at very quiet levels too, you can hear good clean bass notes. But, if you do a lot of quite listening, we're talking back ground music levels: disable the auto-on feature and manually turn it on and off, because if you happen to be listening to something quiet, even if you still can here low notes from this, it does not seem to be enough signal to keep the auto-on, well... on.It improves movies as well, take something with a lot of dynamics like, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" or, "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" there are a lot of sudden loud, and very low sounds in those movie's and the Yamaha handles it all with aplomb. With most of the controls are on the front set-up is and tweaking is made easy, and if you are wondering about the "BASS" button: if the button is in the "music" position you will have to turn the volume to a higher level to shake the termites out of the walls than if its set to the "movie" position (I think "music" is a flatter frequency response). As this review seems to be getting a bit long I'll some it up:yes, there are far better subwoofers out there (like from B&W), but I don't have the money for those, and if someone gave me a 1,000 watt Velodyne I would take it in a heartbeat- but, I wouldn't want to give this one up too. It's a absolute pleasure to listen to.Update: I have run some test tones on this subwoofer, and well, it can not reach 20Hz. 38Hz seems to be the limit for usable bass, although it is still audible to around 32Hz, 20Hz is a stretch. If 38Hz sounds to high: their are not many movie's or CD's that have any sounds below 35Hz. And very, very few have sound below 25Hz.Although it does not go as low as I would have hoped, it is still a good sub for the money, and still worth a five star review.
