My Favorite Star Wars Lego Set

I received this for my 11th Birthday. I'm a Star Wars Lego fan & this is the best set I've ever made.Pros: The inside is very interesting because you can fit soldiers and vehicles inside. The whole thing is detailed. The legs can move. Comes with 1,068 pieces. It looks like how it does in the movie. It's for ages 14+ and I could still build it.Cons: It's fragile. If you knock it over you have to put the body back onto the legs and fix the head (not too hard to fix). It takes 3 to 4 hours to build. It's also expensive.I highly recommend this toy for anyone who's 10 or older. I think you can build it yourself.

Great excuse for another Lego set if you have kids

I used Christmas as an excuse to buy myself this set and "gave" it to my son as a present. We had hours of fun putting it together and did some serious father-son bonding. A 5 year old is easily impressed by a 33 year old Lego Master. The set is definitely not for beginners nor will it stand up to the daily abuse a 5 year old calls play. As another dad mentioned, the head falls off WAY too easily. (A minor removal of two bricks from the neck helps the tiny stem that connects the head to the body give it a better grip. Helps, but doesn't solve the problem.) But that AT-AT looks really cool when placed along side his X-Wings, Tie Fighter and numerous other Star Wars pieces. It is a must for Star Wars Lego collectors of all ages.

Impressive but mostly for Star Wars fans

The other reviewer admonishes us to be sure to play with this set, but I have found that to be pretty difficult because the AT-AT model is kind of fragile. Don't get me wrong, this is a very, very cool looking set. But it is mostly for Star Wars fans and adult LEGO fans. And those of you know that you must have this set for your collection.

If you are looking for good LEGO sets to play with, then I would recommend the Make & Create line instead.

Beautiful Outfit - Bit Hard to Dress Though

A Model Life is from the high end collector BFMC series. The doll is a 'silkstone' - made of a vinyl plastic that is similar in weight and texture to porcelain. Since she is in the BFMC series, her clothing and accessories are of the highest quality. Most BFMC dolls also have vintage faces.The outfit in this set is quite lovely. The pink crepe silk undershirt is especially exquisite and quite lovely all by itself without the jacket! It has ruffles in the front and a beautiful large tie-bow at the waist. The suit is made of a nubby grey/black fabric and is fully lined with matching pink silk. One detractor on the suit coat is that (as with most coats/suits in the BFMC line) the jacket doesn't 'hang' normally and instead balloons out like a tent. The set comes with all the accessories suitable for a model. A real stand out in the set is a gorgeous pearl and diamond pin to place on the lapel of the coat.The doll is lovely though I'm not a fan of fuzzy bangs in the front. For me, the value in the set was that gorgeous pink top - one of my favorites to dress and display.One caution is that the outfit is fully lined - so it can be very tight in the arm holes and hard to get on. Since the doll is made of silkstone and not vinyl material, they are a tad more brittle than plastic. I broke a thumb off trying to get the suit on the doll as a result (and getting the suit on took over an hour!).In all, I do love the outfit and I'm glad I purchased it. I just wish it wasn't so hard to get it on her.

A fun toy for infants to preschoolers

I have 3 children ages 1, 3, and 5 who love this toy. Not only does it get used with the Little People but it also is used with other toys. My 1 year old loves the sounds and is able to put the people into the cars. It is so sturdy that it withstands his climbing all over it and it does not tip over on those occasions when he decides to stand up and hold onto it. My 3 year old daughter loves to play with the Little People that came with it and she loves the video that came with ours. My 5 year old likes to use it for staging battles with his green Army men and their planes and it occasionally becomes a hideout for the Superfriends action figures or Matchbox cars.

It has just enough electronic sounds to be fun but not to take away from the kids' imaginations. With such a wide appeal and so many ways to use it, this toy is a great value! Way to go Fisher-Price.

Little People Once Again A Big Hit!

I bought this toy for my son's 2nd birthday since he loves his Little People toys so much - the farm, zoo, bus, and other Little People play sets just to name a few. Little People play sets seem to be some of his favorite toys and keep him happily engaged and focused for such an extensive period of time. This toy is no exception! This is a crawl-around-on-your-knees, keep-those-toddler-hands-moving, sound-making, smile-producing wonder of a toy!

This garage is the best of all the LP garages previously

I have owned three Little People garages over the years, and this is by far the best! This set has so much more to do and think about when driving and repairing a car. It even has a vacuum station, a diagnosic center (similar to the really old style- only much sturdier), and a cute news stand. The base has several places for sounds to come out- even more than the previous garage model.

The only drawback is the "snapping" of the pieces together before you can give it to the child to play with. I had a difficult time getting the two ramps to snap in place. But the nice part, when it is all put together, it is VERY sturdy. FP thought ahead this time and put in a track support along with a post that reinforces the whole toy much better. My two year old even fell on it once (accident) and it didn't hurt the toy at all.

Overall I give it 5 stars- a perfect Christmas present for your toddler/preschooler!

good clean fun

this was a really fun play set. i play this with my niece all the time. it took a bit of time to put together tho. everything stays put together, nothing has broke. the stroler is even big enough for the Kelly doll!! really fun, combine it with the nursery set and your all ready for Midge to have her baby! just be sure to call Dr. Barbie if Midge's water breaks in the store!

Not Worth It

I've had this set for a few months now and it is not my favorite Barbie Product.Here's Why:

*Not very durable. The displays fall over too much and therefore didn't add much to the set. The stickers tend to fall off, also.

*Hard to put together. It took me ages to put the purple stroller together, and I'm 12 years old! The shopping cart and other things gave me trouble also.

Overall, this is not a very good playset. It took forever for me to put it together and altogether wasn't really worth the 14 or 15 dollars I spent on it. If you want a quality Happy Family set, check out the Happy Family Baby Nursery, which is very fun and durable.

Great play set

I bought this item and a kelly club doll for the price on one swan lake barbie. Anyways this is a great set up. The tree is rubber so you know its going to last and not break. all the pieces that need to fit together fit to gether and they wont fall out so you dont need to keep putting things back into place. The other thing that is cute is the swan you turn the mushroom and the swan swims around on the little pond. The only thing that I dont like are the silly forks and knifes and spoons those are the first things to get lost. I love this set it is so cute and durable. I highly suggest getting it.

Great Play Set

But has lots of small pieces. I got this for my neice for Christmas as part of a bundle that came with the carriage. It took the 2 of us over an hour to put all the pieces together, which was great in that we did it together, but there were lots of small pieces, so not for children who still put things in their mouth. She has not stopped playing with these items since she got them under the tree.

My daughter would love this

toy if you would make the parts bigger...Yes I know this is geared for older children. I however have a daughter who is will be 4 next April...She wants toys like this but has a sister who won't be 2 even until next February...My daughter cannot and does not get toys like this because for one she is irresponsible about picking up toys like this and for two because her younger sister loves all this barbie and swan lake stuff as well too...It would be extrememly nice if the manufacturer of mattel and barbie products would start making toys similar to the swan lake and barbie, etc, etc...for toddlers and preschoolers to be able to enjoy as well...I don't need any choking happening so I refuse to purchase this toy, let alone hearing the arguments and tantrums that will come of it...For me and parents like myself this would cause only headache is unfair to the younger who are also fans of barbie and barbie accessories as well.....

This is a big, beautiful model!

Whew! I built the Lego Hailfire Droid last night, and it is a monster. It has almost 700 pieces, and it took me over four hours to build. Definitely a good buy for anyone who likes the construction aspects of Lego. The model has a variety of interestingly-shaped pieces--I had to resist the temptation to cannibalize it for other creations before I was finished! You may not agree with the five-star education rating unless you're a gearhead. It is by far the most intricate set I've come across. Even in larger sets with more pieces I've never seen such a mind-bendingly complex design. The instructions are easy to follow (as usual)--it's the surprising ways in which the subunits combine that make this such a joy to build. Make sure you have plenty of table space!

I call this a 'model' and not a 'toy' for a couple of reasons. The first is the complexity of the design. Almost all of the pieces are normal or modified Technic pieces--lots of girders and snap tubes, very few flat bricks. The Hailfire Droid verges on the complexity of the Ultimate Model kits.

I also call it a model because, once built, you may not actually play with it much. Not that it doesn't have play value--it actually rolls on those huge wheels, which is VERY cool, and there is a big spring-action laser cannon that pops out from below the fuselage. The problem is that there is no good place to grab the thing! That might be a plus rather than a minus if you are looking for a model rather than a toy--the entire surface is crammed with cool machinery and loads of detail, but that does make it difficult to hold securely. Also, the completed vehicle is not fragile, but it is . . . rickety. Iit will NOT fall apart, unless you drop it or maybe hurl it across the room--in fact, I was pleasantly surprised at how securely the different subunits bolted together. But it does creak and squeak and even flex a little bit, as you might expect from a big, skeletal Technic vehicle. Think of it as Lego's B-52: huge, gorgeous, and sturdy--but more flexible than you might expect.

If you have a Mindstorms set, you might want to pick up a Hailfire Droid just to see if you can motorize it--my favorite Lego fantasy since I finished building mine! For everyone else, this set is still a great value: hours of fun construction, and a very big, very cool finished product.
