5amazing knife
By jeremy sandusky
I own several global knives and this one did not disappoint. I compete in kcbs bbq contest and must have a sharp knife for making delicate cuts on very soft tender meat for the judges. this knife does it and does it well. this works on roasts as well as brisket pork butts and yes even fish.

5Global...absolutely the best!
By C. Cresta
I love cooking because I am the ultimate foodie & child of a professional cook. I've owned several knife sets in the last 30+ years, but in the last 6 I've had Global, which are the absolute best. I now own at least 15 of their knives, they are weighted to perfection, razor sharp, specifically designed according to the job at hand & to top it off look sleek & contemporary. Keep your Global knives perfect by buying the proper sharpener, but don't worry if you're not handy with the ceramic whetstone & the correct angle to sharpen your knives as MinoSharp make great little sharpening tools, which are specifically suited to Global knives & take the stress out of sharpening. You cannot put these beautiful knives in the dishwasher though, they are professional grade chef's knives & must be washed by hand & dried immediately. I don't store my knives in drawers as they are so sharp, instead I have a long strong magnetic wall holder, but Global also have chef's blocks to keep them in. Global knives are jewels in my kitchen & are a huge contribution to my joy in cooking.

4My 26 month old son has never complained
By sean j
My son has had this bed for about 4-5 months. He sleeps on it at night and during the day (noon nap). He stands on he bed (now his 14mo sister is in on the act) and the bed is sturdy. none of the problems mentioned by the parents who bought the dora the explorer version. One thing that stops it from getting 5 stars is that it was a pain to put it together correctly and i suspect those who complain about the sturdiness have not put it together like it should be.

4SB TODDLER BED

My child loved this bed when he first saw it. He loves to sleep in it. It wasn't that easy to put together though-needs 2 people to do this. Pretty sturdy as my 2yo likes to jump and stand on his bed.

5Great Case for Casual or Business Traveler
By A Conrad
When I was shopping for a notebook case that was not too bulky for everyday use. I only needed to bring my notebook and power cord, and an occasional file or two. This Samsonite L35 laptop carrying case is exactly what I need for both everyday and travel use. I have it for each of my laptops. Not only does it carry all the necessary notebook requirements (power cable, ethernet cable, files, etc.), but everything else such as my wallet, phone, and sometimes a slim external hard drive. The added padding protected my laptop from its demise after a few accidental mishaps. Thanks, Samsonite!!!For my personal laptop, I have a Sony VAIO with a 13.3" screen, and it carries all of the necessities, which include a wireless optical mouse. For my work laptop, I have an HP (Mobile Centrino) with a 15" screen, and it fits it perfectly! I carry more things, which include a wireless optic mouse, a wireless USB network adapter (to supplement/increase the gain of the internal wireless card on my notebook), and a CD wallet case. The other great thing about this case is the "flap" that can fit onto my carry-on luggage pull handle. If one didn't know what this was for, it can be easily mistaken for an external compartment with a "design flaw" of having the bottom of the pocket open. I am a professor at a medical university, and I travel at least once a month to give lectures in Universities and Scientific Conferences, so this is a definitely a big design advantage for travelers. Conclusion: It is small enough to be conveniently used for everything I need it for, yet big enough to carry everything that I need.Because the Samsonite L35 is doing its job as a notebook carrying case, I gave it 5 stars. I use the L35 when I just need to carry the notebook and the power cord. I also have the Samsonite XT530, which can hold more things, such as files and cables and peripherals portable drives. The XT530 is what I use when I need to bring more stuff.

1Good for light laptops only......... hinges tear off easily
By N. Wong
When I first got this bag, it worked great. After about 3 months of regular use of bringing my laptop to school, I noticed the fake leather over the hinges for the shoulder strap started to tear, and eventually, they both broke off. I basically dropped my laptop the first time this happened and was not in a good mood. I hooked the straps on to the handle hinges which seemed to be a little sturdier, but they just tore off also. The construction of the hinges to the bag are not very good, as they rely upon the fake leather and a little (too small) of a a bolt that just goes into the bag (no washer on the inside to deter the bolt from pulling off the bag). The laptop I have is an older IBM T20 with an AC adapter and an extra battery. I'm guessing this is too heavy for the bag, even though the laptop is relatively light. I would never buy this model again.

5Nice Case For The Essentials
By Baxter
Update 7/2006: within a few months the handle rivet gave out. Given the low price I didn't even bother trying to get it repaired. This is a fatal flaw and if I could remove stars I would give it a zero.-------------The case is well-built and seems rugged. It is all nylon, good-looking and devoid of any leather accents. The shoulder strap is padded and has webbing on one side for slip-resistance; the zippers and handle have a comfortable rubberized feel though I think the handle could be a little stiffer. All the metal parts have a nice satin finish. My 15" screened HP ze4900 series laptop fits perfectly into the padded pocket in the main compartment. This pocket doesn't allow you to open the laptop while it is inside the case and can impede removal of the computer when the bag is partially unzipped (slightly inconvenient at an airport security station or while on a plane) but it does offer good protection. There is a velcro strap to secure the computer inside the pocket but it is too short to be useful and the case is snug enough that I don't use it at all. There are two additional pockets in the main compartment for accessories and a larger pocket for files. Filling the accessory pockets with a mouse and charger does create some bulging but I feel this is acceptable when compared to the Kensington case which has a bigger footprint and was too big for this computer. The file pocket can only handle a half-inch worth of papers with the computer and accessories loaded. The front pocket has space for a PDA or cell phone, pens and business cards, maybe a pair of sunglasses and travel documents. With regard to the rear pocket, it is really not a pocket but a sleeve that allows the case to be slipped over a rolling suitcase handle. I didn't think much of it until I used it and now I think it is the best feature of this case -- wonderful for travel, looks slick, and is quite secure. And if you are using a black Samsonite suitcase so much the better for overall appearance. This sleeve also has a zippered compartment but I haven't used it because it is small and its contents are subject to bending if you are using the sleeve with a suitcase.Overall a good case if you like compact size, simplicity, and style over tremendous capacity.

5A new favorite in my workshop
By A Customer
I own several woodworking machines by Delta, Powermatic and others. This is one machine, however, that I really felt compelled to write a review on. I recently upgraded to this machine from a Delta 37-195 6" Professional Jointer which I was, for the most part, very happy with. I made the switch for two reasons; length of the infeed/outfeed tables and weight of the unit. At only 200+ pounds, the 6" jointer had a tendency of not staying in its place when edge jointing larger boards and securing it permanently to the floor in my basement shop was not an option. The only real issue with the DJ-20 was getting it into a basement workshop based on its bulky size and overall weight of around 500lbs. This was done with 3 people and a large capacity appliance dolly. With minimal setup time, I was absolutely amazed at the difference between this jointer and the 6" Delta I was used to. Overall, depth adjustments are much simpler and more accurate, due to the smoothness at which the infeed table moves. The accuracy and power of this machine makes even face jointing 8" hardwood stock a simple task. The amount of chipout as compared to other jointers is minimal. I am amazed at how quickly I can square up a board to a near perfect 90 degrees EVERY time no matter how rough the stock initially was. The bottom line is that I purchased this mahcine for its weight and infeed/outfeed length, but ended up with the larger capacity and an entirely new level of accuracy. The possibilities that this jointer have opened up to me will bring my woodworking to the next level. The free mobile base (mail in coupon included with the unit) is a great feature as well.

5This is a superior jointer
By Woodsmithy
I waited a long time for Powermatic to redesign their 8" jointer like they did with the 6", but I was dispointed. The new Powermatic 8" jointer's lower price does not offset the fit, finish, and features of this Delta 8" DJ20.The Delta lever actuated depth of cut adjustment is fast, smooth, and accurate. The fence is easy to adjust and holds square. I have run a lot of figured wood over it and have not experienced burning or tear out, unless I abuse it or don't pay attention to grain direction.I previously owned a 6" Jet jointer. If you are on a budget look at the 8" Grizley long bed, the Jet 8" on sale, or the Powermatic 6" long bed.Assembly of this jointer is relatively easy. I did it myself in about 6 hour using alot of leverage and some strong sawhorses. I would not recommend this to everyone. Unless your a 250 weightlifter get some help putting it onto the stand. The rest is easy.Note added after over 2 years of heavy use:I have since changed out the cutter head to a Byrd Shellex carbide segmented unit. This change has vastly improved an already great jointer. It was an easy change over, which took about 4-6 hours. It's advisable to change the bearings at the same time, keeping in mind that if the bearings go, it can damage the new $500 head. You can get generic bearing for less than $20 a set, which is cheap insurance. Be careful when installing the Byrd head, the segments may not look like it but they are extermly sharp. The jointer is now quiter and provides a cleaner cut on almost all woods. The small pattern can easily be sanded out with 220 grit.I also added a Delta mobile base and 3" high wood riser blocks to clear my tablesaw top and move it around to work with longer stock.Other than thinking about changing the short electric cord that Delta supplied, out to a longer one; I am very happy with this jointer.

4I should have bought this jointer in the first place!
By David W. Broere
This jointer is priced at the high end of the 8" class - a fact I had to come to terms with before I finally made the "plunge". In my mind, I've always downplayed the role of a good jointer until I started serious woodworking last year. When I set up my shop I purchased a 6" jointer with a short bed, in an attempt to save some money. I've wanted a larger, more precise jointer ever since then. After quite a bit of deliberation, I finally decided not to risk another disapointment and purchased the X5.

Be ware - watch who you listen to. A salesperson at one of the local woodworking stores told me that the X5 units were made in the USA to tighter tolerances than the standard units. I can't speak for the tolerances but, my X5 was not made in the USA and it turned out that their floor model wasn't either!

The main jointer casting was crated and packed extremely well. The base was cardboard boxed with little packing, making the sheet metal easily subject to shipping damage. Fortunately, mine made it through the shipping process just fine.

I did have to work out one problem: I noticed a large "knot" at drive belt, at the seam/joint when I first assembled the unit. The knot in the belt contributed to an extremely high vibration. I installed one of those red link belts. I'd read about their ability to drastically reduce vibration and folks who use them, swear by them. Again - I'm a believer! Nearly all the vibration went away after installing the new belt.

As I said, I haven't measured the tolerances but I am pleased with how this jointer operates. In my mind, it's been worth the cost to move up to this unit.

5The food processor SHOW DOWN: A comparison of 14 cup stainless Cuisinart food processors
By Chandler
When I buy a new kitchen or household item with lots of competitors I do loads of comparison/contrasting and research first if it's over a hundred bucks...Knowing it was time for a new food processor, I began comparing models. However, I found it a tad difficult to do with all the different blades, codes, etc. Therefore, once I had completed my own shopping and comparisons, I thought it might be helpful for anyone else in the same situation if I posted my own comparisons here.I'll start by saying I decided to order the Cuisinart Limited Edition Metal 14 cup food processor on Amazon. I found it to be the best value for my own needs and it was cheaper here than anywhere else I looked as of the time of my review. I chose Cuisinart because it's known to be the best but what made me decide on the limited edition may not be what you would want...this way you can compare and decide.I chose a 14 cup because I love soups and big batches of dough.I only looked at stainless because I only have 2 electronics on my countertops....this will be one. And it best match the appliances.So...that said...here we go: (these are all by Cuisinart)I compared The Custom 14 food processor DFP 14BCN.I will call this "C from now on.I compared it to the Limited Edition 14 cup MP-14NI will call this "LE" from now onI compared also the Elite Collection 14 cup FP 14DC(I will call this "E" from now on)and I compared the PowerPrep Plus 14 cup DLC-2014CHB(I will call this "PP" from now on)WARRANTY: I admit I equate this with how well it's built and how long Cuisinart expects it to last:C: 5 year motor, 3 year entire unitLE: 20 year motor warranty, 3 year entire unitE:20 year motor warranty, 3 year LIMITED warrantyPP:10 year motor warranty, 3 year entire unitCONTROLS:C: Two controls: On/off and pulse. All come with spatulas to scrape them down. All have parts that are dishwasher safe.Other:C: noneLE: also comes with attachable beater blades so you don't have to keep your mixer on the countertop or drag out two appliances for some mixing chores. Bowl is made so no food gets caught in grooves or corners. Cord can be wrapped underneath machine.E: also comes with attachable 11 cup and 4.5 cup bowls with pour spouts and measurement markings for small chores. These nest inside the 14 cup bowl. Some have complained that the narrow base and wide top, which makes the nestling bowls fit in, don't allow as smooth of mixing and also that food gets caught in a rim making this bowl harder to clean after mixing things that get trapped like shredded cheese and fine nuts. This is the only one that comes with an accessory storage case with a lock...nice to keep blades away from kids. You can also wrap cord under unit on this one.PP:noneConclusion:What I wanted in my food processor may be different from you so I'll note a few things. For me, the Limited Edition was what I purchased because it was far higher priced everywhere else on the internet including the Cuisinart site itself so I thought it good value and its price on Amazon, it's warranty was the best and it had the most powerful motor of all of them so, since I use it often, this was a plus. Also because of its powerful motor it is best for doughs as was the solid metal dough blade. I have a huge kitchenaid mixer that I don't keep on the counter so having the beater blade attachment was great for quick mixing when I don't wish to drag it out of the pantry. Because most of my slicing is the 4mm and I never do any fine shredding, the adjustable blades weren't needed for me (and I can buy them later if I want them...all parts are interchangeable on the 14 cup Cuisinart food processors.) BUT if you are someone who wants a variety of bowl sizes and blades, then I'd say the Elite would be the best choice. It's also nice that that one comes with an accessory storage case. However, I find having to unstack the small bowls housed inside the large one and get food out that gets trapped in the seams were an annoyance I wished to avoid. I found the custom to be too simple with a lesser motor and poor warranty and no mode specifically for dough. And the powerprep is fine but more basic as well with a lesser warranty and motor for almost the same price as the uber food processor...(the limited edition). Might be ok for those who rarely use the machine who know they won't wear out the motor. Also, Cuisinart is really going "old school" on this model to include a VHS tape with it...rather than the DVD included in the newer models. Still it's got an induction motor which is still better than the Custom and the Elite...(but the Elite has more wattage to it's motor inspite of the fact it's not an induction motor.) Final thought is for the price, the parts, the mega motor, the commercial grade and the warranty of the Limited Edition along with its ease of cleaning and stremlined look... it just pulled out ahead of the game for me.I'm very happy with my purchase...my old food processor was working fine but had the small chute and didn't offer near what this new one does and it looks impressive on the counter even though I'm very picky about anything out on the counter in my kitchen as my kitchen is open to the living room so I have to keep it neat. The metal is attractive, the motor is SO quiet for what it is, and the chopping power is tremendous...I did a couple batches of dough already too and it makes some FINE pizza in no time because of it!Negatives: Some complain about the new food processors having safety mechanisms that won't allow the machine to start unless everything is aligned perfectly. For me this is not a negative because the newer machines with the commercial induction motors being loose would easily chop off your head. ' And that's a kitchen mess none of us want. They aren't your mama's old school food processors that whir at a low speed...these things do all but chop logs and they'd probably do that too. I want nothing loose when this baby starts!p.s. If you buy shredded cheese, try shredding your own in the food processor instead...not only will you save lots of cash to help pay for the food processor, :-) but shredded cheese is coated so it won't stick together. If you shred your own it actually tastes soooo much better and fresher, and it melts better. Same with meat...except of course for the melting part!

5Impressive Performance
By Robert Brian Lamm
I've had a Cuisinart DLC-11 for the past 20 years and it still works.I decided to purchase this one based upon its larger capacity. It is superior to the older one in almost every way. Cuisinart has managed to improve the cover latching system, without making it cumbersome and hard to use (like on the KitchenAid that I tried at Williams-Sonoma).The "dough" button appears to direct more torque to the blade, and the metal dough blade performs better than the former plastic one (although the old plastic blade has whipped up many a batch of pizza dough). This unit also has a set of wire beaters, something that I do not believe I will get much use out of, since I am a mixer junkie and have 3 stand mixers (KitchenAid, Kenwood and DeLonghi). I think I'll leave the whipping to them. The discs with the detachable stem perform admirably, as does the feed chute on this unit. I recommend purchasing the disc storage units from Cuisinart - if not for safety, certainly to keep the discs organized and ready to go to work. My DLC-11 discs were scattered throughout the drawers in the kitchen, making it easier to get a knife and a cutting board and chop, rather than conduct a treasure hunt through the kitchen to find the particular disc I needed. Keeping things organized in the kitchen is important - it makes it more fun to cook. This unit is powerful and quiet, and intelligently designed.

5A stellar performer from a stellar comany
By Havens South
I just ordered and received, from Amazon.com, a Cuisinart MP-14 (Limited Edition Metal 14-cup Food Processor. This new Cuisinart replaces my original 1977 Cuisinart, bought to make baby food for my infant daughter. Of course, as anyone who has ever used a high quality food processor knows, by 1978 that Cuisinart had seen a lot more, and a lot heavier duty than mere baby food pureeing!

That original Cuisinart is still going strong, but resides with my daughter, now an adult and newly married. She laid claim to the Cuisinart somewhere during her high school baking and breadmaking phase, and instead of registering for a new model during her wedding, she happily absconded with mine when she set up her household and I took off for life in SW Florida.

After a year without my Cuisinart, and making do with a small, outdated Oster mini processor, I gave myself a Valentine's gift an bought the Cuisinart MP-14.

Why?-Because I am tired of hand making the bread doughs I love to grill as pizza or flat bread over the open flame of our outdoor grill.-Because I am tired of scraped knuckles and sliced fingers from hand graters and razor sharp mandolines when shredding or thin slicing veggies for slaws, tempuras, or Potatoes Anna.-Because I like to grate hard and soft cheeses in bulk for adding to lasagnas, topping pizzas, or blending into savory shortbreads and hor d'oeuvre pastries.-Because I like to make my own chopped pork and beef mixture for Swedish meatballs.-Because I love the speed and ease of a food processor in making bread crumbs, apple crisp and pie crumb toppings, chopping chocolate and nuts, and mincing and blending large quantities of garlic or herbs for dips, herb butters and spreads, or pestos.-Because my daughter also laid claim to my heavy duty KitchenAid mixer, and it looks like this whisk attachment is going to be fine for mixing cheesecake batters, whipping cream or putting the final whip finish on mashed potatoes, as well as frothing the egg custard foundations to chocolate mousses and flourless cakes.-Because I believe in the Cuisinart product line, which has proven itself to me for decades. I believe my newest Cuisinart will to be worth every penny, and perform flawlessly and efficiently for generations to come!-And because maybe, just maybe -- in the not too distant future -my new MP-14 will whip up even more wickedly wonderful batchs of baby foods!

Cuisinart - I love you, and I adore this new 14 cup heavy duty MP 14 with whisk attachment, bread dough mixing blade and the dough setting to prevent overheating the dough. You are making my Valentine's Day very sweet indeed!

An updated version of that traditional classic–paper dolls–the Woodkins Ballet Dancer kit comes with everything you need to get this little ballerina ready for her next performance. Kit includes a wooden board with a girl painted on the front. Her body's outline is partially cut out of the wood to create a space where pieces of fabric can be tucked in to change the outfit depending on her mood. Clothes are held in place by liftable top board. Comes with 8 fabric pieces; 4 interchangeable heads with different expressions; and clear vinyl tote bag with pink trim. Imported.

5Grandaughter loves this toy!
By lovelabs
My 3 yr. old grandaughter loves this toy. She can play with someone or by herself. Even her 5 and 7 year old brothers will play with it with her. I wish they made them for boys too.
