Good workhorse for relatively short use

I bought five of these for my office; they lasted for about three or four years and then the motors burned out of three of them. They are strong performers and are worth the money since they compare to higher-end staplers. Cons are that they are not designed for more than 20 pages, they jam too often, and most annoyingly, when one gets to the end of the staple "row" the stapler always jams without fail, leaving the last three or four staples stuck in the "lip" of the stapler. One can avoid this last problem by removing the last of the staples before using them when the red "low staple" light comes on, but it is a waste to discard unused staples. In addition, a new employee will not know that and will inevitably jam the unit.I believe this model has been discontinued by Swingline but may be wrong. I never see it anywhere except Amazon and other online retailers, which leads me to believe these retailers are blowing out old stock. There is nothing wrong with this, since this 51110 model is built a little heavier-duty than most lower-end current Swingline models. One last note -- the transformer is built-in, so all that extrudes from the unit is a cord and plug, rather than a transformer that can wiggle loose at the other end where it plugs into the stapler. Accordingly, there is never a power "short" at the stapler end.

Great bang for your buck

If you staple a lot, this is for you. Great price on Amazon. Staples with a very satisfying "Whuket!" sound. You can adjust the distance from the edge of the page where the staple will occur. Staple 2 papers together or 2 dozen. If you have arthritis, this makes stapling a breeze. Once you go electric, you'll look at those still stapling manually and think to yourself, "If they only knew, if they only knew..."

...but it finally crashed. I was very happy to find that I could replace it. But soon I was very disappointed when the new one arrived DOA!!! (after paying for second day shipping too!) Oh well, I looked up Swingline customer service's phone number instead of bothering Amazon... and Swingline CS was just that... full of service. I've been promised a new one and I'm certain enough that it will arrive as promised that I thought that I would express my appreciation for being taken care of promptly. It's been a great machine in our office and I didn't want to lose it for even a day. gP.S. New replacement arrived in 3-4 days at most, well ahead of promised date.
