This phono pre-amp was recommended to me by one of the most well known analogue critics in the business. I happen to know him personally through a mutual friend and at this price point, he recommended this. It works as expected and sounds better than my previous set up. I did expedited shipping and it came in a miraculously short amount of time, like 4 days from Japan to New York. It was necessary as I got a new Sony receiver recently and it didn't have a built in phono pre-amp, and I'm a fan of vinyl. But an outboard phono pre-amp is usually better anyway, than the built in ones. Though I was skeptical of the baseline $30 phono preamps you see anywhere- I assumed they weren't good- don't know from experience. This one sounds very clean and very meaty.
