This phoTOGS Convertible Jacket and lining are made of 100% cotton, pigment dyed and prewashed for a soft weathered look and feel. Zip out sleeves convert the jacket to a vest for more comfort. Best Jacket I Ever Owned...Three Times!

The Domke Photogs Jacket is the best jacket I have ever owned! Trust me, I have owned three of them! You might ask "If the jacket is so great why have you had to buy three of them?" Because that was over a period of almost 20 years! I bought my first in 1990 and wore it while on duty in the Middle East. I wore the heck out of it and it was my constant companion, like an old friend. After eight years of almost daily wear, it had finally started to show the expected frays and stains one would expect after that much wear and tear for that long. I had to be begged by my then girlfriend to stop wearing it because of its stains and frays. I bought my second Photogs Jacket in 1998 and wore it primarily in the U.S. Pacific Northwest where it withstood constant wind and great amounts of rain and sandblasting along the pacific coast. Again, it was my constant companion and I wore it till 2005 when it began to develop a few understandable rips in high stress areas such as the hand pockets. I went without my beloved jacket for about 4 years as I searched in vain for a replacement. When I did find stores that carried them they were always a size too small for me. Finally, this year (2009) I found an XXL Domke Photogs Jacket listed on Amazon.com and for an incredible price! I couldn't believe my luck and ordered it that moment! I would have paid at least twice the asking price and did when I had purchased my first one, which had been $250! I was only worried it would somehow get lost in shipping! When it arrived I was elated and put it on as soon as I took it out of the box. It was like hugging an old lost friend, found again! I know, all that over a jacket?! Yes, it is that good!!! The zippered removeable sleeves make the jacket amazingly versatile and there is never a shortage of pockets. It is warm enough for most situations and with a fleece shirt underneath is warm enough even for moderate snow. It is also light enough to wear in balmy temps and the cotton breathes making it feel like wearing good shade in the desert sun. The jacket is amazingly comfortable to wear, even brand new, and gets more and more comfortable as you "break" it in. I have many times slept comfortably in the jacket and it feels like being wrapped in linen bed sheets. The zip out hood is good for most rain showers and is excellent for keeping the wind at bay. I just hope that Domke keeps producing this jacket as I am likely to need a new one in another 10 years. I plan to wear the heck out of this one too! I give this jacket my highest 20 year rating! Get one, while you still can!

This is the second camera vest/jacket I've bought.First I would like to commend whoever chose the material. It just feels really really good. Wish I had sheets made out of this stuff. There was another guy on one of the workshops I was on...he had one and said the same thing..loved his jacket..just feels good to put it on, really comfortable.Second, zip out sleeves are a very nice feature. Twice I needed them in the morning and then took them off and stored them in the back pocket as the day warmed up. Very nice. Worth the money IMO.Third, has plenty of inside/outside pockets and places to store stuff. No complaints.I'm a big guy and this XX was the right size.Strongly recommended.

I've used Domke photo vests for over thirty years. I find them good for the purpose. I had to trash the last one I owned because it was really showing its age. Also, in the colder weather I have here, I got tired wearing a heavy sweater for shoots. I've always thought about a photo jacket and decided now was the time. This Domke jacket is excellent. Plenty of pocket space, a hood and two way zipper. It's a must for a working photographer, and I'm happy I was able to get one.
