A Fantastic Extra Gadget

I recently bought an Induro tripod and this clamphead is a great gadget to have. You can clamp it to your tripod and use it for many things, like a 2nd camera, speedlite or I used it to install a digital video recorder, which I can record an event and also take pictures at the same time. "Great Product"

I purchased this a few years ago, and I must admit, it's one of the most used clamps I own. When I am out on jobs, I can clamp this to any pipe or railing or tree, etc. and mount my flash to it, so I can add extra light to my photos.If it is clamped to something rock solid, like a beefy handrail, it is rock solid and I trust it to hold my camera and a medium-sized lens.The clamp will fit any sized pipe from ¾ EMT (electrical conduit), all the way up to 1¾" (outside diameter) pipe or tree-branch. It will even fit similar sized table legs, floor lamps and I even clamped it to a bicycle frame once for use with my small point'n'shoot on video-mode. Worked great in every application.It's made of very durable light-weight metal, with rubber pads on the clamp area. The head can be articulated in many ways to achieve a level surface, however, if you wish to gain true-level, you'll need to bring a bubble level extra.After the few years I've used this, I am impressed with its resilience. I definitely could use another one... maybe two. :)

I bought this to attach a light weight video camera to my tripod leg to capture live video to my computer which sits on a tray on top of the tripod. The clamp is beefy. The screw you see farthest from the head unscrews completely to allow the clamp to open up like pliers. I slip the clamp around the tripod leg screw it up tight and I'm done. The head screw allows the head to rotate 360 degrees around the end of the clamp and flip 180 degrees from up like you see in the picture to down under the clamp. I would be totally comfortable putting any consumer video camcorder on it as well as a SLR without a telephoto lens. I'm just shooting a fixed video scene (basball hitting and pitching). If you need to pan, you need a real pan head and I don't think this would be a good choice. For teathered shooting with a heavy cameras/lens, I think you need to go with something like the manfrotto horizonal bar with two heads, or mount the camera on top of the tripod and attach the computer to the tripod with a superclamp/magic arm setup. Either way, it's more than twice as expensive and more stuff to haul around.
