Beautiful IPhone 5 case

This case is hands down the nicest iPhone 5 case I have seen. It has gorgeous leather, protects wonderfully and looks incredibly elegant. I get asked all the time where I found it and just ordered one for my mother-in-law directly from the company. Pile Frama is harder to order from, so I prefer to order through Amazon if you can find one available. For a professional, this is a perfect gift!

I like it very much, but not perfect...

2012-Dec-11Almost three years ago I bought a Piel Frama case for my iPhone3. It lived in my jeans pocket the entire time without any noticeable degradation of fit or finish. I wear jeans or cargo shorts almost exclusively, and the only "care" the case received was to not put it in the same pocket with coins or keys.I just this moment received a Piel Frama 595 Black Crocodile Magnetic Leather Case for Apple iPhone 5. I bought a plain leather case, not croc.It has the same beautiful leather as my old case. It fits the iPhone5 very snugly. Beautiful! I look forward to it being very happy in my pocket.Not-so-beautiful: the metal fitting to receive a screw for a clip, or a screw-in flat metal cover, bulges the back. I hope it doesn't ding or crack the back of the phone. I look forward to the cover, which protrudes just a bitsy, becoming lost in the near future.I recommend, highly even. Just have to put up with a couple minor flaws... Don't put it next to credit cards, either.[Stupid Amazon review system... it asked me to review the case I bought, but there isn't a proper "insert a product link" to the thing I bought!]. For 6 months I searched for an elegant and inexpensive case for my new iPhone. Almost every case assumes the user will be sliding the iPhone into their jeans or their purse. My office is strictly a coat and tie affair, and as a man over 40 I try to carry a purse as infrequently as possible. The Piel Frama is a truly beautiful and expensive solution to my needs which would have been a lot less expensive if I had bought it first.The beauty flows directly from the design. The flap design allows full access to the audio jack and lightning connection. The speakers are covered by perforated leather. Yes you must fold back a leather flap and hold it when using the phone and the flap does get in the way when taking pictures. However, the face of the iPhone is fully protected at all other times. The cover gives a clean and finished look to the iPhone that "holsters" and sliders can't match. Take the time to look closely at the alternatives, which I did, and you'll see what I mean. (I don't suggest you buy four others which I also did.) The competitors are generally either plastic or crafted from lower quality leather. Their designs are mostly pedestrian and the iPhone is generally hard to get to when you need it. Grasping a $500 product with two fingers and flipping it around quickly to answer a call always made me feel uncomfortable.All of which brings me to the Piel Frama solution - the belt clip. Over the years I have tried many holster and belt clip cases. I always find the Piel Frama connection to be the best. The clip allows the iPhone to swing freely and yet remain securely attached to the belt clip and the belt clip remains securely attached to your belt - in all postures. (Gentlemen experiencing expanding prosperity know what I'm talking about.) Despite the solid connections between iPhone, clip and belt, with a push of the thumb the iPhone is released into your hand and can be grasped firmly. You will not drop the iPhone! When your done, the iPhone slides back onto the clip with a reassuring click.The button on the back of the case which makes the hole system work does come with tradeoffs. It keeps you from being able to fold the flap flat against the back of the case making the iPhone larger in your hand then you might expect. The button also leaves an imperceptible indent in the padded leather front of the flap. Also, to lay the iPhone flat, you must place it facedown on a table or desk. I have not found these tradeoffs to be burdensome. However, Piel Frama's design allows you to remove the button should you wish to slide the iPhone into your jeans for weekends or, God forbid, business meetings in jeans.All in all, an expensive leather case that is worth every dollar or euro.
