Best bird feeder yet

I have tried many many bird feeders. All of them have eventually broken and been thrown away. The wooden ones decay from the weather and quickly become unsightly. None of them have had enough capacity for bird seed.Yes, this bird feeder is extremely expensive, but if you're looking for a modern minimal looking bird feeder with a massive capacity then there is nothing else like this out there. I was shocked at how much bird seed this can handle. I am not having to fill the feeder nearly as often as before. I have a very modern house and all of the other bird feeders out there just looked too rustic. I have researched feeders all over the internet and have been looking at this one for a while, but was prevented from buying it due to the price. I finally decided to take the plunge and purchase it. Eva Solo is an established Danish design company with many beautiful products with a minimalist aesthetic. What I've noticed about this feeder is that the birds are easily able to perch on the edge. This feeder definitely goes by the rules of form follows function! There are so many bird products out there that seem to be designed by people with no knowledge of what it requires to function for birds.I do recommend that you study the installation brochure very carefully. You will need a mallet or a small rock to drive the metal stake into the ground. Start by twisting it into the ground by hand as far as you can go then finish with pounding it in. I used a rock and it worked perfectly. Also, they suggest wetting the ground around the stake once it is in, and then compressing the earth around it and then letting it dry. Stomp on the wet soil with your feet. This is essential so that the pole is not wiggling around in the earth. It will make it much more secure if you do this. Definitely measure the distance of the stake that is protruding from the ground and compare it with the measurement in the brochure. This is imperative if you want it to have the stability that is needed to hold the glass vessel which is huge and heavy. Next you will need to pound the black platform onto the stake. If you try to twist it on by hand it will not go far enough down onto the stake as it is a very tight fit and you risk having the glass and platform tumble off. Now you're ready to go!If you are as obsessed with birds as I am and are willing to spend the crazy money on this then I can't highly recommend the Eva Solo large bird feeder highly enough.

I am all about modern design, and this is the most beautiful modern looking bird feeder I have ever found. It also works well. My neighborhood birds love it ;) A tip here: this is NOT squirrel proof, so place it away from branches or places from which squirrels can jump onto the top of the feeder. I have seen squirrels climb up via the stainless steel suppor rod. But, I beat these smart squirrels ;) - I smeared olive oil on the rod, and squirrels couldn't climb up the slippery rod ;) !! It was quite entertaining to see squirrels trying to climb up and fell on their attempts. No - squirrels were not hurt ;) just disappointed!
