The Slik 505 QF is an advanced, heavy-duty tripod that has an all-metal build. To keep all three legs at the same angle all the time for maximum stability, there is a set of leg braces that are attached to the center column and can be locked in any position. This is a very convenient feature, should you need to set the tripod in a cramped space that does not allow the legs to be fully spread. Knurled rubber grip twist-release leg locks were incorporated for the tripod to handle video cameras up to 10 lbs.The geared center column has a tension control. The amount of friction (resistance to movement) in the center column can be adjusted to tailor its rise and fall to the weight of the camera being used. To change the tension, grasp the center column and turn to the right to increase and to the left to decrease tension.The 505 QF comes complete with an all-metal fluid pan head with separate pan and tilt control locks. The base of the head has a bubble level for accurate leveling of the tripod in any situation. The panhandle is long enough to give excellent leverage for smooth panning, and the angle of the panhandle is fully adjustable to accommodate a variety of cameras and working styles.

Slik video Tripod

I bought this tripod after using a friends at an event I videoed. I had a cheap walmart Tripod but this one with the Fluid head is awesome, it has full range of motion that the cheap ones didn't. I video motorsports with lots of quick action. So I needed one that had full motion, the up and down with out tipping the the tripod to catch the shot. I'd recommend it just becareful with small camcorders it is a heavier tripod.

Great tripod for videography

Bought this tripod on the basis of reviews. Arrived with the locking lever broken :( Took some time to source the spare part in Australia but now all good. Discovered it's actually an oldish model and rather overengineered for modern lightweight HD cameras. Still, it's solid apart from the locking lever! Works well. Should last a long time. By the way, I bought another locking lever just in case this new one breaks in due course.

I just sold my SLIK 505QF tripod for $100 after owning it for 15 years. It was still like new because I probably only used it 5 times, if that. Now I regret getting rid of it. The other tripods I have are nowhere near the quality of the SLIK tripod. Materials, design and craftsmanship are all flawless! Everything operates smoothly and it's extremely sturdy. This tripod will hold a heavy camcorder with no problem. If you can afford it, this is a great tripod. Worth every penny!
